I hope you are the Iris or a lampost- cross species is cool but gender bending avies freak me out- don't jump all over me people- if the person is like that all the time meaning they perceive themselves of a different gender and choose to portray that in SL - fine and dandy- happy for them, I just really get upset over people trying to fool others for nefarious purposes by pretending otherwise.

Yes! This was a perfect description! Flirting does vary, from person to person, and from circumstance to circumstance. It's very much of a verbal and, in RL, visual dance between individuals, as one moves towards someone, then glides away a bit..and then moves in again...with each comment and/or glance. The dance may remain completely fun and enjoyable, with playful banter...or the dance's focus may change, and become more seduction than flirtation.

Absolutely not jumping all over me- I appreciate enlightenment- yes honestly- those were my first thoughts. Eitehr the person really is feeling like the opposite sex and is living out their correct gender in SL or they are out to fool someone. The thought never entered my mind that there may be wholesome reasons. That is not to say, that now that you have pointed out to me my error I will not entertain the concept. To any one then that is in fact trying out a different sex for what ever self explorations- my apologies- I was wrong and will widen my world view to encompass that.

In my initial stages of flirting, I may send an IM/PM but it might not have any real sexual connotation at all.

The initial date, to me, is still quite often flirting. I usually flirt for a good while, in group and one on one, before moving towards seduction.

I'm freaky. And I haven't attempted to fool anyone for nefarious or other purpose.

If I became a woman in RL, I'd end up a lesbian. I have no plans nor desire to be transformed through surgery into a female form. I have no problems with those that do. If we live life more than once, and we had some choice in it, I might try the female side. But I would want it from the beginning, not when I am 10, 20, 30, etc.

By the way, is that flirting? As I mentioned I am not good at flirting or picking up on it. Flirting could be a train, and I could be standing on the tracks as one was barreling down towards me and I would likely not realize what was going on (to put it another way, maybe I'm the train, and I'm on the tracks speeding towards a tunnel and . . . hey, why'd the movie suddenly start showing ducks flying?; maybe my thoughts are like a train and I've lost control of it, charging along unconcerned of where I might be going, or why).

See, now I try for mental images, and I create a train and traintracks and some doofus standing on them. heh.
