Could you fix the inventory folder flapping situation?

Please

I call it a memory cascade. Its been bug reported over 1000+ times by various residents.

This is what happens. I open up a folder - and lets say two other folders within that one. Then I close them all up.

Then maybe 20 mins later I'll do the same with another folder and so on. Then I'll close up every single folder I've EVER opened up. Either manually or with the Close All Folders thing.

Then I'll close the Inventory window. The next time I open it up: EVERY single folder I've ever accessed previously flaps open.

That my darlins is what most of us have been calling a huge pain in the rear end.

It gets worse the longer you stay logged on, and the more you access your inventory.

Can we please have it fixed so that when we shut folders and shut the inventory window they remain closed when we next open our inventories up?

I'll even give up my Simone folder. well ok maybe half of it. Well mebbe one outfit. ok two

but
Please
Please
can you fix it?

I can't tell you how much this bug creates actual PAIN for us to use SL.

Please.
I'm begging.

Please. Can you fix it?

I'll even stop ranting about philly on my blog. Well ok for a week at least.

Please fix?

ty for listenin

Argh yes I agree! It's -really- annoying to have to find the tabs to close all the previously opened folders. Argh again. ;-;

In one of the other threads the Lindens have been accused of killing puppies. :(

But yes, I'll throw in my hat for begging for an inventory fix anyway.

I didn't use the First Look viewer too extensively, but I didn't run into the bug there, so I think it's fixed. Unfortunately it has bugs in it that are even more annoying *sighs*.

I would love to see a new - regular - viewer with both the inventory and "Offer Teleport" issues fixed. Really can't believe it takes them this long to re-enable one silly button :(.

I'm not big on posting work arounds, but if yer an event host like me - being able to TP people is key.

First way is go to Client on top toolbar then scroll all the way down to Check Admin or whatever - its the last thing on the list - Admin something.

Then you'll be able to teleport people from their profiles. You'll have to renew that each time you log in however.

The second way is to use the copy Slurl to clipboard feature on the map. Select the telepad landing spot of your event place - then click the copy slurl button.

You can then paste it directly into a group or individual IM - the person can click on it and teleport to your location.

Hopefully this bug will get fixed soon and we won't have to work around it.

As for First look - not everyone can use that. I believe its not compatible with one of those popular vid cards.

so

please lindies - fix the folder sich please ....

There's a work-around for everything, that doesn't really make it any less annoying.

If you can't see the water (World/Region), if you can't tp to a sim (relog and enter it manually), if you're missing image (Client/Character/Rebake), if you end with attachments stuck up your behind (Relog), if your prim ends up with a 0.5 rotation (clear it manually), if your folders stay open (File/New Window before closing inventory), if you're invisible or no L$ balance (relog), if you rez something and it doesn't turn up (go look at 0,0,0), if your attachment won't rez (wear another on the same spot and switch back), and so on.

It would be nice if things just worked, without work-arounds, or if they stopped breaking functionality to begin with and then don't fix it the next update.

I hope those people are trying anyway and keep on piling up the bug reports because one of these days they will decide to push First Look as the one and only viewer :(.

I appreciate the thought, but I'm thinking its not a bug thing, but that the software that is used by LL for first look just doesn't work with whatever vid card it is.

So that would mean THEY are the ones that need to adjust accordingly. but yeah I'm pretty sure first look is gonna be the only look soon enough.

in the meantime... someone... please have pity on us...

please

fix the inventory folder situation
please?

This may be annoying, but the workaround is so simple that I can't really see the urgency in demanding this fix.

Open a new Inventory window. Voila -- all folders are closed.

Other than the auto current texture find function which is crucial, I tend to prefer interfaces
that do what I tell them to and only when I tell them to.

I am with you here Brace! And workarounds can be nice but shouldn't stuff just work the way it is supposed to? Not in SL.

This was fixed for about an update or so a few months back. Everyone was so excited until it got borked again.

Yes I've tried that too.

All it does is postpone the inevitable. And really it only works part of the time. In next to no time the new window is folder flapping away, catching memory and cascading from the previous one I guess. Since more folders flap open, than I'd opened up in the new window to begin with.

*sighs*

please

fix....

Teaching classes, looking for and handing out info/notecards/landmarks, changing clothing, setting up event spaces... and so on

maybe I use my inventory more than everyone else? Don't think so

help us...

I agree with good old Brace on this one. Every day it gets more annoying and using the "workarounds" only adds to the annoyance.

Someone somewhere fix this before I start sawing on my wrists!

There is no point in addressing problems with the program to Pony Linden.

Pony Linden has an attitude problem.

Pony Linden is a chronic neighsayer.

If it's just the inventory folder bug that's bothering you, then I recommend downloading and installing the First Look viewer.

http://secondlife.com/community/firstlook.phphttp://secondlife.com/community/firstlook.php

I am using a First Look viewer 1 version behind the newest one, and I haven't seen this folder staying open problem for a while. The newest version of First Look is 1.13.3.58390. It would seem they are discontinuing the regular viewers in an effort to reduce downtime. All versions of First Look are optional. Let me just warn you of 2 bugs in the new First Look; one is annoying and the other is more serious. The Esc button no longer returns the camera view to normal or closes the chat dialog box. Also, when purchasing something in world and the "you have paid so and so XXX amount of Lindens" window pops up, make sure to press the >>>> button to switch to the other blue window that says "accept, decline, ignore". Otherwise, both windows will close when pressing OK on the first window. That is one mean bug.

The newest viewer has

I think you are missing what we are saying. We don't want workarounds or having to use a different viewer. All we are asking for is that Linden Labs to fix this nightmare. :)

The first look viewer is going to be the new viewer for SL. So in other words, the fix is already done. They had planned on releasing it last Weds, but it wasn't ready for the big time yet. I would guess that this weds downtime will also bring the release of the first look viewer into the main viewer.

Well the First Look viewer will soon be THE viewer, so I would suggest anyone who hasn't yet, test it double quick to make sure you can even get on SL with the new viewer and that's it working to your expectations. And yes, the teleports, the water and the folder issues are all fixed in First Look. Although it does have other bugs...

I see someone posted the same thing above me.

Test it now...

Unfortunately, the blue box vendor bug is still being reported by users of the new First Look viewer. (1.13.3.58390) Does anyone else have this problem with the new one? This is the only FL viewer upgrade that I've skipped because the Esc key does not work anymore; and supposedly, the blue window bug is still being reported. I'm still using the previous version which has the same bug. (1.13.3.58185)
