Do we need more Landbot threads?

If you're sick of new landbot threads appearing, then please stop trying to get the ones we have closed. Although some of you may be sick of hearing about the issue and you may think we're just beating a dead horse, this issue is important to some of us and we'd like to be able to discuss it. If you don't like hearing about the issue, just skip over the thread. Why do you have to try to take away others' access to something just because you're sick of it? Thanks.

In world groups are great for discussing the issues. But then you get all that pesky spam.

I think it's an important issue as well.

However, you must admit that having six threads on the subject on the first page is a bit much.

(referring to yesterday's mess of course)

They're (bots) no longer simply monopolizing on virtual land; they're also monopolizing the forum, at the community's expense.

Meh. Just my 2L's.

As Strife likes to say, this is not a general discussion forum, and there are third party sites for that.

Reverend, I feel your pain, really I do. I used to have fun searching for bargain land myself, and it's kinda pointless now with all the landbots roaming the grid. But I think that the results from your poll on whether LL should allow landbots, with the majority voting for the option of "completely revamp the land buying system", indicates that many of the folks on the forum would like to throw out the land resellers along with the landbots.

As far as LL throttling land searches, has anyone tried to manually run a bunch of searches real quick? Seems throttled to me from the message it gives me in the client. Just wondering if this is a server side throttle or not.

What's most annoying to me is that it throttles it if I try to flip through the pages in the land search too fast. Sheesh, I have to count to five just to turn a page!

I agree that six threads was too much. But unlike landbots in world, you can simply ignore the threads in the forum. No one is forcing you to read them in order to read the other threads. In world, there's no way to deal with land buying without dealing at least to some extent with landbots.

Well, technically one could argue that all those landbot threads use server resources, and that people utilitizing the landbot threads are putting extra load on the servers that wouldn't otherwise be there, and that other resident answer questions aren't being addressed because people are spending their time on the landbot threads, etc. Not tryin' to be snarky, just pointing out another way to look at it.

And I would venture that some people in the forums don't give much of a hoot about buying land or landbots, they just smell blood in the water and want to put in their two cents.

I don't mind weeding through to read the others, my point was, having that many threads made on the same subject wasn't necessary, and only served to annoy many.

Think you missed the entire tangent derail. Or else saw it and only picked on me, which is crummy.

Generally for those who actually watch the whys, personal arguements in threads is the #1 reason threads are closed. Far and away above thread divergence.

Personally arguments often start from a misunderstanding where someone feels unjustly singled out. :(

Additionally THIS landbot thread wasnt the serious one - the original post is nonsensical. :p

Of course land bots are a serious issue. Id like for some sort of Linden acknowledgement though - Otherwise it seems mainly wheel spinning.

It seems a problem unsolvable without Linden involvement of some sort.

Unless someone is willing to serial grief the bots, or something.

throttle the "search" function used by the bots to find land, which hurts the legit players too.

I can't use the Next button to move to the next screen nearly fast enough to suit me now. There might be dozens of screens to go past before you get to the one you want.
