From: Brenda Connolly Considering it took 3 days for an official acknowledgment of the PayPal issue, I don't know what to think All I know is my premium is due on Sunday....
I even tried redownloading the software, but no joy ......I won't be able to log on for about 12 hours so that gives them plenty of time. Nope and it wouldn't work since it wasn't on your end. And it's acknowledged, because my hubby spent a few hours making SURE it got acknowledged. I'm giving them another hour before I try to log the hubby's account in. This 'bug' blew my mind, since I'm the one that is on the most and I'd never seen this kind of issue before.. oh, wait... I have! On the Beta Grid yesterday, I was on there, but the hubby was at work so he wasn't. Nearly everyone was ruthed and couldn't change it for the exact same reasons. There were very few people who could change or at least showed up in their regular avatars!

There is an update on the blog. They don't know what's wrong. There are two types of issues...

Not yet. I've been chatting with Char, in between doing some cooking, though. Good thing we have two comps, so I can still work in SL too. I left the hubby's account logged in, just in case. Seems like a partial connection rather than a full.
I really feel for the tech working on this one. Seems like a needle in a haystack! A HUGE haystack.

I made my RL take down all my vital statistics (from the sliders) on a piece of paper, so if I ever lose my shape it's recorded ready for repair!

Unfortunately, with this problem, even sliders don't work.

I am having a terrible day already.

I have copies of my hubby's shapes, because he's a RPer and likes to be able to shift to fit the moment. Right now, it's his female form that was affected, so at least it didn't surprise him that he had boobs. He makes his own or for the female, I make them and he tweaks them to suit his tastes.
*shrugs* He's not too bothered by this, since they are doing their best. I'm more just curious about what caused it and why.. since there doesn't seem to be a work around. If they get it fixed before he gets home, that will be great! If not, he's happy my account wasn't affected.

Well - thanks for the updates on the situation. I was supposed to be doing pictures tonight with my husband for our SL wedding (which was a month ago) but I don't want to be Ruth in our photos. I honestly can't bring myself to log on again like this.

More people who can login with the same problem, the easier it become to track it! She can't directly help, but she's been working as a proper liaison between the hubby's account and the techs.

I am not online but if you happen to talk to Char, perhaps you could point her to this thread or even give her my name - Gillian Waldman.
I also sent a support e-mail in.

A freind and I had the Ruth problem last night and I had it again today. All clothes, hair, skin in place, but over the Ruth shape.
We tried relogging in the normal way, but cured it by logging out, and logging in again to a very quiet sim. We used Plush Upsilon, but doubtless others would work just as well. Cure worked for me when it happened again today.

Sliders do not work, IF you can get appearance up. Inventory consists of empty folders. Although I'm glad it did work for you!

Not entirely on topic, but why is the default Ruth AV called Ruth? It seems to have always been called that since beta, but no one I've talked to can tell me why.

I logged on quickly to send a Help Request and no one has even responded...so maybe I should just hope it gets sorted through all your diligence, Raudf.
Incidentally, did your husband try to log-in from another real life location (ie not your house?).

No.. mostly because we don't have the access to do that. But if my account hasn't had problems, on either computer, then really, his shouldn't. Who knows? For all I know, there really is magic smoke that makes SL work!

Wonder if it makes sense to compare system specs to see if there is anything in common that would make this happen.
At any rate, I did eventually get a response from Help Request, which unfortunately said "char is working on urgent issues" and "you should read the blog." LOL. I wanted to make sure Char had my account name so she could look at any similarities between affected accounts.
Oh well.

I'll send on your name too, so she knows.
Both of the comps:
Mine: XP Home ATI Radeon X300 3.0 ghz processor 32 bit 1 gig ram
His: XP Media Center ATI Radeon X300 3.2 ghz processor 32 bit 1 gig of ram
Not the most powerful machines on the market. I've got my account logged in and standing next to his. I seem him exactly how he looks on his screen. *sigh*

No problem. I'm wondering how many people are suffering from it and can't/won't read the forums?

I saw today on the newest blog post that they recommend you start your avatar in a different region when logging in if you are showing up invisible or having other problems.

Gaybot - that is for invisible avatars who only recently were invisible due to load. This is very different.

Oh, so do they know what it is yet? It can't just be her husband. I've noticed quite a few similar complaints on the blog describing the exact same thing. I heard rumors of problems with the co-location in Texas, but I'm not sure. Synchronization problems?
