We already know the software it's running on, Peggy. You can see it right now in the Blogs. No maybes about it.

And that makes it bad? I don't find the blogs so bad as I find them less familar than these forums. Geeze, one can't hold off judgement before something happens?

Oh drat! I thought I'd mentioned it in both thread, but both mentions are in this one :(

We seem to have a battle of the threads right now.

I'm not trying to play favorites with the list.

Second Survivor and Terror of thought are mostly dead.

SLU is the most active, but the Politics, Religion, Society (PRS) is not for the faint of heart.

SC is fairly active, but not a place that trolls who are used to people putting up with their crap can expect a nice welcome, as Pippy and Jummpeh discovered, although Lias/Blady seems to have entrenched there :p

I have no idea what the Forum Cartel one is like, so you'll have to take Phil's word for it, even if it might be full of bots :p

Good idea! It needs some bots posting to get it active :D

I suspect it will pick up some. It will basically be unmoderated, as long as people don't post a bunch of NSFW pics all over the place.

Sorry, Anglefire is ass, so I won't add that.

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's fine for people who thing they're still in the 90's, need poorly contrasting text, and horrid midi music!

But I'm not adding it. :p

It was a joke lol. As in that angelfire atrocity is the worst web page on the internet. But it is a bad design example to learn by. An example of feature overload with no added value.

Until you see that second craptastik site that looks like it came from Idiocracy. I fear SL will be turned into that second one.

I've no idea what NSFW pics are, but I hate them already :)

When it's easier to keep track of a thread by reading unread emails in my inbox instead of randomly scroll until I happen to find a post that looks like it might be something I didn't read yet then I personally think it's quite bad :p.

The way I read it, there will be a new forum, one which might even be better than this one.
I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it.

This.

See you all there!

Isablan, Conifer and I appear to be in the minority here. I suppose that's to be expected and I should not be surprised.

One thing I hope does change with this new forum. Having to basically defend yourself to a certain vocal (and sometimes obnoxous) group that take over almost every thread that runs contrary to what they believe is important. There's no such thing as a different view or opinion. Hell, we can't even take a "wait and see" attitude before we get vocal on this new direction LL has decided upon.

I prefer to beat the rush and be an Early Adopter.

You can rest easy Peggala. I won't be there to darken the mood. ;)

That's because many of us have already been using this "new direction" for months already.

You got an answer for everything don't you? I said WE cannot even take a wait and see attitude. I have stated that I have not, to my kinowledge, use a forum hosted or provided by Clearspace.........yes I've been on the blogs and I understand that's Clearspace. But, from the blog linked in this thread the forums will be different..............a forum, not a blog. I also said I don't have a problem with the SL Blogs...........other than these forums are more familar to me (hence, my preferrence for this place over that place). I can adapt to change.

But, here again, I have to explain (or defend) my opinion..........that's what I DO HOPE CHANGES in any new format. software or over method of communicating in an open and informative way.

Want to bet that among the categories LL will NOT migrate, will be any form of "Resident Answers"?

So, which categories do you think they will keep, and which will get castrated?

Peggy, we have SEEN what the new forums will look like already. Look at Second Life Answers. Look at the Commerce Forums. Look at the Merchant's Roundtable. That's it, hon. A Blog trying to be a Forum, and failing miserably because the application is woefully inadequate to the task.

They'll keep texturing, building and scripting forums. RA and Technical Issues will be combined and heavily moderated.

We've seen it in action Peggy, the commerce forums are the old Xstreet forums. Resident Answers looks like it has already been replaced with SL Answers, a place where Lexie tells people discussions aren't welcome.

If that's the case, I can adapt. I don't see a huge problem.

So, now someone ask me to defend that statement. :)

Oh, I'll probably manage to adapt, too. Just like I had to "adapt" when my employer slashed my health care benefits. Didn't mean I was happy about it, or that it was a good thing, but half a loaf is better than none, they say.

The XStreet SL Merchant's forum is already on Clearspace. It's not significantly different from the Blog.

As far a LL is concerned, it is perpetually October.

Technically "We" didn't. They won't have the consideration to make the announcement here.

I'm choosing none of the above. I am not going near anything with the "Offical" LL stamp on it, that's for sure. I'll probably lurk at SLU to keep an eye out for continuing Stupid Linden Tricks, but I only have so much online time to waste and despite LL's wish that we do everything outside of SL, I'll spend that available time inworld.
^^ This for me also I expect.
