If you use HUDs, AOs, Dance spheres or Chims, there's a recent and bad issue

I'm encouraged to see today there are 96 voters on the 6110 issue, thank you again folks!
Sadly, there is another person who lost their dances.
If folks here who have lost items this way would come over to the JIRA 6110 itself and post as many details as possible about the loss, it may help achieve a fix soon.

Lost my collar... it was a custom model too. One of a kind.

Basic Account? Don't hold your breath!
05-03-2008 15:01
Just a little update; Basic Account holders can not get Linden Lab support for lost inventory. I attempted to file a support ticket today, and this was the result: From: My Support Ticket Summary: VWR6110 issue - LOST ATTACHMENT Ticket Type: Technical Issue Technical issue: I've logged in, but there is a problem Inworld Issue: Inventory Details: I've tried relogging, I've tried clearing Cache, I've even tried the trick with logging into the beta grid, finding the object in inventory, then logging back onto the main grid, and it's simply not coming back.
The item missing: KDC Posture Collar Low (ER Mod)
This was a custom built model, with custom animations, and is worth well over 2000L to replace the components neccessary to simply replace it's functionality (the model, is lost forever, it was unique and filled with no-copy items.)
I'm told that there's some sort of inventory recovery utility that can be run by Linden Lab in this situation. The item DOES exist in my inventory on the Beta Grid (if that helps).
From: Automated email from Linden Lab Hello!
Our system shows that you submitted this ticket from either a Basic account or with Guest Access. Basic account holders and guests may only submit tickets using the ticket type "Special Questions - Basic account or Guest Login". You did not select that ticket type, so the ticket will not be reviewed.
If your issue is one of the ones we offer support to, please submit another ticket with the information corrected.
Worse still.. I can log into the Beta Grid, and it's still there. So I can look at the wonderful custom model... but that's about it.

That is just seriously freaking lame In other words, many people will lose items and be unable to get support, basically being penalized for not finding anything compelling about premium membership until the one rare time they need support. Sorry to hear about that.

Thanks for posting this thread Phoenixa.....
I had my 'huddles' filled with approximately 6000L worth of no-copy anims... I detached it earlier on and it's now gone from my inventory.....certainly not as bad as your loss but it hurts like hell, I actually felt sick. I've put in my vote on the jira and I've also submitted a ticket.
By the way, does anyone know if 'live chat' is still there....I couldn't find the link for it....?

Pocket, I'm sad to see that you've had a loss, just as I am for each and every person who has lost something.
I feel extremely fortunate that I'm *not* missing anything due to this recent issue... thanks to Keiki's blog and happenstance heads up. (oh, I would have had a HUGE loss of dance sphere with 163 dances in it, and all 8 full HUDDLES quick pose HUDs I'm wearing at 20 dances per... as I had a habit of being silly sometimes and suddenly dragging my phoenix avi folder onto my avi which removes every attachment)
Being as serious as this is, I really felt a strong urge to get the word out about this so that others could be warned as well.
I just dont dare take any of my HUDs or my dance sphere off, or drag a folder to my avi and I also avoid that area with RELEASE KEYS button like the plague.
I hope they fix this immediately. It's encouraging to see some folks getting theirs back (I hope you'll be one of them and soon!) and also that the number of votes is now 100.

It's on the right side of the main Support page...from top to bottom, it has a box for 'Submit a Ticket,' the Billing phone numbers, and then 'Live Chat.' Also, when you submit a ticket as a Basic account, it doesn't actually seem to require the subtopics under the main 'Special Questions' ticket type. I'd suggest trying to submit without changing those and see what happens.

From: Winter Ventura Just a little update;
Basic Account holders can not get Linden Lab support for lost inventory. I attempted to file a support ticket today, and this was the result... Here's something to add to the eccentricities of the LL support system: I'm also a Basic Account holder and filed a support ticket several months ago for my lost inventory. I got the same response. THEN, recently, I get this: ~ ~ ~ We have solved your issue Solution: Hello Czari, Thank you for contacting Linden Lab support regarding your issue. I have attached an article explaining how to get your inventory back. Please do a search in the knowledge base for inventory recovery. There is an article that explains how to do it. Regards, (Name of LL employee) Linden Lab support ~ ~ ~ Okkkaaayyyy...so somehow my ticket *was* responded to after being told it wouldn't be, but with totally useless info as I also explained that I had gone through all those procedures in my ticket. Curiouser and curiouser!

Missing Owenimation Chimera and Sine-Wave AO
05-04-2008 11:53
This morning, just as I've done hundreds of times, I detached my Owenimations chimera (worn on my spine). Later, when I wante to wear it, it was gone from inventory. A few days ago, something simlar happened to a Sine Wave AO HUD, which disappeared from inventory after I detached it. I thought that was just a little glitch or bug because the same thing happened a week earlier with the same Sine Wave app. Fortunately, Sine Wave replaced my missing animations. This is a serious issue. I've opened a support ticket, and hope the Lindens can do something to fix the problem.

Can you send it to the creator on the beta grid? Maybe if s/he actually has it in hand, s/he can easily recreate it for you on the main grid? Of course you would want to compensate them for the time, but if it's really special ... Just a thought. .

Just a thought. . I did the model work. I could sit down and copy the numbers down prim for prim... and then I could manually rebuild it in the man grid from the numbers... but I have better things to do with 2 days of my life.

Is it just 1.19.1.4 users who are being affected, as per the JIRS issue, or are some of you using other viewers? Since it seems LL can recover the items in a lot of instances, I was just wondering if it might be a software glitch rather than an asset server problem.

Gordon and Alea, I hope you'll come to the JIRA 6110 and post the details about losing your items. If you read through the comments, you'll see some folks have had a recovery with help from a Linden with an inventory fix. One successful recipient said the Linden staff person had said they're watching the issue comments. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6110

From: Winter Ventura I did the model work. I could sit down and copy the numbers down prim for prim... and then I could manually rebuild it in the man grid from the numbers... but I have better things to do with 2 days of my life. Hmmm. Not sure if SecondInventory would help here (nor if you could get access to it in the Beta grid while your collar was still there--I suspect not), but a simple prim-cloning script might be hacked pretty quickly to spit out text of what the prim parameters are, and then that text copied to the Main Grid and pushed back into the other half of the cloner. Again, just a thought. (No idea about textures, though: are texture keys the same across grids?) And of course the collar scripts would have to come whence the scripts came originally. It's really annoying that the background inventory loss rate is so high, making it difficult to tell if there's a pattern here. Collars, like AOs, both take controls and animate the wearer. (Do chims take controls? I'd guess so, just so they can work on no-script parcels.) Most of the reports have been about AOs and chims, but those may well be the most common attachments in use. It's interesting that (AFAIK) nobody has reported loss of the plain vanilla ZHAO or ZHAO 2, which must be the most common AO base, and would be the most difficult to replace when they contain anims from all over and customized settings. (On the other hand, maybe most ZHAO users are like me, and simply *never* take it off.)

From: Qie Niangao (On the other hand, maybe most ZHAO users are like me, and simply *never* take it off.) For those who say they never take it off... I will say that I am almost never without my dance huds either, (although, a couple of them do get rotated, but 3 of them are never off my screen). Though I've not taken a daily count over the last year or so, there have been some times I've logged in that something has preceded my arrival and mysteriously removes attachments. Occasionally it's several of them, but usually 1 or 2. If I were to guess, this might be once a month or every 2 months. The times I've had this happen, the item is in my inventory, so I mutter curses under my breath and put it back on. However.. not too long ago, one of my boot bases was off my avi. I tried to put it back on, as it was in the folder with the rest of the boot parts which all showed up as "worn" where this one didn't. I couldn't reattach it, and the error box claimed it was not found in the database. I waited a couple weeks thinking 'hmm, SL issue again'. Then I finally contacted the creator who was a real dear and sent another full set in a folder, instead of just the one base replacement I'd asked for. I say this.. I truly pray that they fix this 6110 issue before the next round of "why is my ______ not on my avi?"

More victims of the loss. Lots of voters (thank you all) and still... UNASSIGNED? I realize as I read through the JIRA, there are a lot of issues, but the more I hear in world of folks losing stuff, the more I wonder why no one has even been assigned, or why they've not put something in the blog about this to cut down on the losses until a fix can be found. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6110

This would actually be a legitimate use of a copybot(variation). Aren't there programs out there specifically geared to that; reading the parameters of your own objects and storing them for later recreation, as a backup?

I lost my backup Amethyst collar now too. Thing is, I know WHEN it happened, I was taking things off.. and I DID NOT remove the collar! I was changing outfits, and while I suppose it's POSSIBLE that I wore something that kicked it off, the fact is that I didn't intentionally remove it. A search of my inventory, and YEAP.. another lost collar.
Luckily, Amethyst replaced it for me, But my original collar is gone, and it makes me really sad.
I really wish things like this were copyable. Yes, I know it "harshes" on the realism of "being owned"...
It's at the point that I'm considering writing my own collar scripts. Obviously models aren't my problem, and most commercial collars are full of freebie animations... But I just spent 5-600L$ on another collar last night, and I just feel like it wasn't worth the effort or time.. much less the money. (maker withheld)

From: Winter Ventura I know WHEN it happened, I was taking things off.. and I DID NOT remove the collar! I was changing outfits, and while I suppose it's POSSIBLE that I wore something that kicked it off, the fact is that I didn't intentionally remove it. If you could be reasonably sure that you didn't attach anything to the same attachment point at which the collar resided, it would be some support for a hunch I have that *something* has changed in the way llTakeControls and the Release Controls button works. I swear that I've worn two items that take controls, removed one, and seen that Release Controls button "blink"... so it wouldn't seem too far a stretch to imagine that removing any control-taking attachment might bump to oblivion some other control-taking attachment, given the right bug. Again, this is just a hunch, and I've been paying way more attention to the side-effects of llTakeControls lately, so maybe I'm just seeing the same old behavior in finer-grain detail than before. But I really suspect something is wrong there.
