I would have to say no. I find the percentage of likable people inworld far higher than reality. It really depends where you go, what you do, and if you run a shop, what sort of shop is it? I have switched professions inworld so many times now, and I find that specific items have specific people that come with the package. And the grid is just a mirror of the current internet, scams and porn, and also intellegent things in the mix...somewhere.

I am just over two now, and have seen a lot of changes come and go. If you go to events with amazing people who are inworld to be creative and meet creative types, then you will have a good experience. There are the few who are inworld solely to create new realities, but they never make the Linden's lists. Go see the Greenies or the rezzables show, its on now, they are having a massive exhibit of some 100 artists on 4 sims. Go there for a few hours and it may change your mind.

Sorry, but this strikes me as just a bit pretentious.

A world of good comes from having a place like Second Life to "create new realities", and frankly, not all of it involves being "amazing, creative people" keen to get on the "Linden's lists".

I'm borderline ready to quit
I'm not trying to be mean, but in all honesty I really think you should just go ahead and do that.

After seeing the other comments you've left here, I do think that Second Life is not the place for you. I've met hundreds of good people here, but you seem to only see the negative, and only see those things you find disgusting, and it makes me wonder : Just what the hell are you still doing here?

I've been on SL for 4 years (2nd account) off and on. I've always come across people who lie. Wether it be about their age, their looks, their life, their occupation, even down to their genders.

I feel really lucky because I met my fiance from SL, and in this sea or cess pool rather, of dishonesty, filth, and cheap virtual hookers I met him. We discussed how we've both been lied to on SL, by people who supposedly cared about us, etc. Neither of us came to SL looking for relationships, but it happened that way. Both of us got lied to. It was neat to develop a friendship then meet and then develop a real relationship. So that is the ONE thing I'm thankful for in SL, is meeting my fiance.

But he's quit SL ages ago due to the reasons above, the liars, the freaks, the deviants. I'm borderline ready to quit. I mean why do you think the community lies so much? Men are women, women are men, kids are adults, adults are kids, the whole community is full of dishonesty, cheaters, liars.

I was surprised to see a poll on here a while back where most people said it was okay to have a RL and SL relationship, as long as the RL lover doesn't know. How sad is that?

Well the point of this is, do you think SL has gone downhill the more popular it gets, and I don't mean downhill because of lag, or scams, or anything, but the values of the community? When I first joined there was maybe 30 or so sims, I recall 2 of them having sexual things you could buy, nowadays it's almost every sim. There's predators and maniacs, pedos, beastiality, it's just like SL attracts many bad people from society. From compulsive liars to deviants.

Do you agree with any of this? Have you ever been lied to or found out someone you were friends with or even more, was really a creepy ass in real life?

I think your forum title is proper: Noxious.

Why do you stay in SL since your fiance has left? What do you have in common with a place that is filled with the worst of society from compulsive liars to 'deviants' (however you define that one).

I do not think "the community lies". I just think people like you play 'the victim of SL' role really well and see only the negative since you obviously associate so closely with it as to see all these negative things that many many people are not seeing and/or are not involved in.

If you don't think this sort of thing happens in real life every day, you haven't been living much. The only things unique about SL are the ability to change ones appearance and to remain somewhat anonymous. People have been lying and cheating and deviating since the dawn of time.

I definitely agree with this. All a virtual world does is give society's desires free reign. The dark as well as the wholesome.

Agreed and in order to be deviant there must be a norm to deviate from. News Flash OP: There is no normal! That is all, you can continue as you were now - if you still want to of course.

I would recommend the red pill myself ;)

Like others said, maybe you should leave after all. To equate role play and the like with "lying" tells me this sort of virtual environment might now be for you. I mean, I play a kid here. most everyone likely knows I'm an adult in real life -- but hey, that dragon to your left is really an accountant from Shegoygan, you know?

(IBTL... if we still had a L)

Salem.. Ya know, who really cares? this is second life. I personally have never partaken in any of those activities that that you mentioned, mainly , mostly, and cuz with me being still a newbie basically ( and the fact that i dont even have a penis yet lol), and this being "a second life" ..what did you expect?

imo, in world you are free to go where ever you want, if you stumble upon or see something or someone that goes that far against your moral fiber then go else where. or quit SL all together..its as simple as that. nobody is forcing you to do anything that is against your will.

the way i see it is like this..as long as nobody is getting hurt, and we all can play (relatively) well together, then what does it really matter in the larger scheme of things? just do what is right for you, and dont bother with what everyone else is doing. ...and thats all i have to say about that.

Someone send this man a penis, he needs to join the cesspool of morality. Sorry Forrest, I don't have one or else I would send it to you...chuckles.

Any man who finds the forums before he finds his first penis has got great things in store for him in SL I predict ;)

Stands to reason really if you think about it - dragons are experts at hoarding piles of gold ;)

The amazing creativity from the deviant freaks I know and love in SL fuels my enjoyment far more than the homogenous boring creeps I try to avoid on a daily basis when I am out and about in the real world.

OP needs to quit and go live in seclusion within the sanctity of the puritanical bonds of RL infallible peaches and cream relationship with perfect fiancee in the land of Nothing Bad Ever Happens To Me In My Perfect RL, and leave the rest of us weirdos to frolic in our fetishes and our corruption.

I think I know who'll be having more fun.

Bye bye, OP!
