From: Void Singer now are we talking ugly, no effort to make a nice av, or ugly, gone to great lengths to make a rather disgusting (but believable) av?
personally, I think the latter is awesome. People who's AVs are ugly on purpose is one category, its possible you might judge them creative. People who's Avs are ugly who think they look "Hawt" is another. Also called "Most People" OOOPS Okay well some people.

I picked my name because I was lucky enough to be given the option of my favourite colour (black is the absence of colour, so it doesn't count apparently) As for being creative with names, I always thought that Plastic Duck aka Gene Replacement was pretty good double-score for a single person, even if some of the Lindens hated him...

What's in a Name?
02-09-2008 11:09
What's in a name? A rose by a any other rose would smell as sweet.... One thing I have found is that Shakespeare never met SL! I, too, find the name wordplay to be one of the reasons I will do a double take, check a profile and speak to a new person. It was certainly a first step in meeting my partner As far as my own name...I think we make our own destiny and I like to sing! Destinee

From: Toy Halfpint I often ask people I happen to meet, that have numbers in their names such as XXX21, Do you happen to know where the other 20 XXX's are? An rl friend wanted to use her rl name, (actually a variation of it), but it wasn't available. Rather than just using the next name number combo that was available, she took four separate numbers that represent things in her rl. When asked about it, she either tells them that it took that many versions to get her 'right' or that she wanted to use her rl name but just using '5762' wasn't available. I chose to use the obvious movie reference because I was trying to get my wife to come on to sl, and I wanted her to be able to figure out who I was without to much trouble (we generally refer to our son as Damien). I won't tell her what it is, nor will I let her tell me the name she would make up. Hopefully she will try sl one of these days.

If I was to sign up again I'd probably take more time to consider a name. Mine came from looking around my room and seeing Gone With The Wind in my DVD stand... Melnik was the only name in the list I could pronounce!
Thing is, when you first sign up, I don't think many people really invisage they will be staying in SL for a long period of time and I don't think many newbies realise that the name they chose will be their avatars permanent name. I was just signing up to have a nosy about and see what all the fuss was about. I suppose I could create an alt with a more interesting name but, franky, I'm just too freaking lazy.

Speaking of stupid names Trout, Any way to change my last name? I have been told Hotshot is cool, but I feel it is concieted beyond even me. I just got tired of looking for a cool one. Can you change mine to Recreant?

From: Deunan Pink (black is the absence of colour, so it doesn't count apparently) ah they lied to you... black is the accumulation of all colors, white is the absense of color. Black is the absense of light though, and white the combination of of all colors of light.

Black is the colour of an object that does not reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum. A black object absorbs all the colours of the visible spectrum and reflects none of them. This has been confused with black being called 'a mixture of all colours', but that is not the case. In fact, an object emitting or reflecting all colours is perceived as white. White is the combination of all the colours of the visible light spectrum. Technically white is achromatic and not regarded as a colour. For SL builders an impression of white light can be achieved by a process called additive mixing, that is the mixing of appropriate intensities of the primary colours of light — red, green and blue. Okay so I'm a physicist, and I do like accurate definitions...sorry!! Astrid

I as wondering about that. The post struck me as off. I had thought black was more the absorption of all colors and white was the reflection of all colors. But Im not a physicist so I didnt want to say anything. thank you for the clarification.

Try having a name that is a commonly used abbreviation for "thank you". I get confused sometimes by local conversations, thinking someone is calling my name.

My name became due to perserverance....another form of my moxie. I've only ever used two names online. My first being MoonKitty. Haha oh the undue attention that one brought me! It was short lived. Moxie it's been for the last 10 years. However, the name has become rather popular, and since has derived to MoxZ. Fecking copycatters!
In RL I am a poet, and my writing tends to lend towards the alliterated wordies. So MoxZ Mokeev just rang my bell.
If you're going to use numbers and lowercase letters in your nick, make it shine people!
