I find it amazing how many people were born in 1969! Must been that free hippy love.

There was a miniature baby boom 1968-1971 in many countries.

Basically it was due to the fact the first and largest group of the Baby Boomers (born in 1945-1947) started having babies in those years.

Thats why the high school classes of 1987-1989 were so much larger than those before.

Dear Isabeau Imako:

Your name isn't strange at all. In fact, it's sort of pretty. We like it. Unfortunately, as part of our secret conspiracy to ruin your SL experience, we can't let on to that fact. As a result, we are terminating all of your alts as soon as we transfer the majority of your inventory to the cornfield. Please report to the nearest Infohub for out-processing.

In addition to persecuting your alts, we have sent a memo to the servers requesting that they initiate Lag Procedure 428843-C every time you teleport in. Unfortunately, the servers don't speak English. They appear to speak in some sort of code made up entirely of ones and zeroes. Our researchers are baffled. However, as soon as we teach them English, you can expect to receive only the finest in mistreatment from them.

Please accept our heartfelt apologies. You are a lovely person and deserve none of this, but let's face it, we're bored. It's Friday; there's nothing to do, and if Jack Linden shows us one more goddamn Yo-Yo trick we're going to go postal. That isn't even entertaining when it's Tommy Smothers. Conspiring against you is all we have.

Sncerely,

Snidely Linden.
Minister of Secret Conspiracies.

LoL, who knew a simple fish could be so creative. If I ever need to send a politely worded bad-news letter to anyone, I know who to ask for help...

Barbie was never the sub. Anyone who played with her knows that. Ken was merely a neutered accessory to her fabulous life :D

I think Barbie might have been a closet lesbian.

Look at the facts.

Ken always was clothed in the sitting in the dream house.

While all the Barbies of various types ended up naked with tangled hair. And since you had to keep your room clean, all gathered up in a pile and put in a drawer together.

Lol - you have no idea. Some of the letters I write for my RL job are brutal. Always polite, but at the same time, just awful. I hate myself sometimes. At any rate, Letters from the Lindens is a fun gag. I should do it more often.

Where's Oryx? I'm pretty sure Oryxes are edible as well. At least if you're a lion. Oryx, BTW is an excellent word for Scrabble. you have the "y" and the "x" and if you can fit it over a triple word value tile, you're talking mega-humongo points.

When I signed up for SL, I didn't know the account name was the avatar name and I was hungry. I think one of the cool thing about a semi clever name is that people will IM out of the blue just to comment on the name.

Also people assume many things about a name and I don't think it is just related to having a play on words.

Ham

lol, it's a great name ... hm, maybe I'm just hungry too...

Dearest Cristalle:

We can't help but notice that you spelled Crystal wrong in your name. As part of our ongoing effort to attract corporate customers to SL, we have instituted a policy banning misspellings...or mispellings...hmm. we'll have to look that one up. Where were we? Oh, right! You are hereby ordered to immediately change your name to Crystal Karami. You may do so by filing a support ticket, which will be denied because we do not allow name changes. Additionally, we're concerned because asbestos is a crystalline formation and, as an American company, we are bound by the laws of the United States which, as our lawyers inform us, make asbestos a controlled substance, like cocaine, methamphetamine or Pixie Stix (tm).

Incidentally, while on the subject of America, we noticed that you support "affordable housing". Listen, we're as progressive as the next group of internet visionaries. Heck, we live in San Francisco! OK, we only do that because Phil is addicted to Chinese food, otherwise we'd move to Silicon Valley where the real playas have their cribs. But, our point is that we can't allow your particular brand of communism to continue. Dirty Commie. Get a haircut. You're lucky you're pretty, or we'd smash you like Ronald Reagan smashed the Berlin Wall!

Please be advised that unless you change your politics, assure us you aren't made out of Oxycodone (tm) and heroin, and change your name to Crystal, we will take the corrective action of banning all of Isabeau's alts and sending her inventory to the cornfield.

Until then, we remain,

Truly Yours,

UncleJoe Linden
Minister of UnAmerican Activities

Dear Mr. Recreant,

First off, we DO read the forums.

In our review of fishy Second Life names, you have come to our notice. After careful study of your account, postings and inworld behavior *squints at paper* ... hmmm yesssss, spanking minors, loitering, collecting dirty pictures .... we believe that your contribution to SL's online community is far greater in the forums than inworld.

Accordingly, for the past 3 weeks we have taken the liberty of delaying the build of your new computer. (After all, Silicon Valley is only 30 miles down the street.) Unaccountably, it slipped through our fingers earlier this week ... however, in view of this thread we have coordinated a delicately timed pile-on of grid monkeys for Monday afternoon on I5 at the Interstate Bridge, so it is our belief that your new computer will be rolling over the bar at Astoria and out to sea on Tuesday morning.

Our sincere regrets. We feel this step is necessary to preserve our online community from the depredations of depraved legal staff.

Enjoy your memories of Second Life.

Sincerely,

Sin Linden

Aggh! Hoisted by my own petard.

The spanking was an accident. I'm guilty of the other stuff, but I'm not sure what I do here or in-world can rightly be considered a "contribution".

I'll just get my friend Sturgeon Recreant to fish my computer out of the Columbia. Some paper towels, a hair dryer and couple handiwipes and it should be just fine. It's only about a 150 foot drop from the bridge to the water, so as long as they packed it in lots of foam peanuts, the fall from the bridge shouldn't hurt it.

not to be an ass on top of an ass, but i'd hate to be associated with stupidity and white trash just because i chose a one-dimensional name named after a tv character, but that's just me.

Wow, look at all the mean spirited prejudism that the name Jethro drew out of you. I guess it's a really good thing that I didn't choose use the name Tennessee Stubbs otherwise you might really tell us how you feel.

Just because I live in a house without a working bathroom doesn't mean I'm stupid. ;)

Maybe I was attempting to be humerous as the abreviated version of 1969 has other connotations.

Dang, I missed that. I was born in 72. ;)

And some people mistake me for a guy.

Especially those who have switched forum avatar pics off. :D

I live in a house where we don't HAVE a bathroom. Just a shower in the kitchen, a bath tub in a room that used to be a kitchen, and the loo on the landing between floors.

Seriously.

We got ourselves a Honey Pot. We had to lay planks to it from the house to avoid the holes the dogs done dug. Them holes are all full of water from the rain. We don't got no curtains on the winders, nor no couch neither, cept for them plastic patio chairs. But we do got ourselves one o them Big Screen TEEvees. My ma comes over from her place a few blocks down to watch her soaps on it. We give her the patio chair that ain't broke.

LOLOLOLOL seriously? for real? you just called my ironic post about your prejudice prejudiced? didn't you just say:
From: someone
I have to admit that when it comes to first names, I can be very prejudiced.

So is this just me? Or do others hold the same or similar prejudices when it comes to peoples first name choices.

and when i showed you how immature and shallow it was, you called ME prejudice? LOLOLOL well, if that ain't a pot n kettle, i dunno what is.

and if you ever have to wonder what i am thinking, you are not only the very first person on earth to have such an issue, by announcing it you are revealing your IQ, Jethro. maybe the nickname apple don't fall so far from the RL tree.

Well some may find that Peter in every last name available has been taken by bots then And Peter1-58 are gone then Peter 59 seems right. Some may use Paul24 using their RL age but not realise they can't change to Paul25 next year.

hey Jethro I like your name just fine and since you asked if others gave into wether or not they had first impressions and NOT wether or not it was shallow..yea I guess we all do from time to time.

Great OP by the way (watch out for derailment)
