I have given up on the aspiring part. Combination Bug Hunter/Beta Tester/Scripter who normally wears jeans unless I am in a Tinie mood would probably prompt a negative rating :(

Prime Directive Number 1 at Troutlabs, Inc. = "There is no such thing as a negative rating."

Prime Directive Number 2 is something about not messing with the thermostat at the Troutlabs or cleaning the old lunches out of fridge every once in a while. I can't remember exactly.

I keep meaning to get rated again. I think I have a lousy 5.5. I strive for at least an 8 damn it.

Trout is able to see the inner beauty in all women, regardless of what they wear -- in his ratings, there are no negatives.

/me really really needs to finish those pics and get her own rating.

I have a 0.5. So it was close. (the picture he rated is the one that is my forum picture; "all women" - he did not know my gender when he gave me that 0.5).

I'm going to post a reply, I'm new to SL and new to the forums.

Although I'm a "newbie" to SL, I'm not a "Newbie" to these sorts of sims. That also needs to be taken into account. I've been in WoW, City of Heroes, Final Fantasy XI, and various other MMORPGS, plus RPGs.

The new "shineys" are just things I've seen before but in different sims and games. I know how to conduct myself and talk to other SLers because it's generally the same universally. It's slightly different because this is , essentially, a second life. People are serious about it and it's important for me to respect that.

I am careful not to be the newb that is constantly yelping for assistance. I look up FAQs and read notecards and how tos. Check out "picks" in profiles of established SLers because that seems to result in the best stuff for me.

I pay attention to what I read and where I go. Although I'm still learning...I think my previous experiences with other interactive games gives me a jump on most newbies.

So, as for a relationship risk, the person's experiences also play a big part. I'm not a "risk" as I'm not in SL for a relationship. BTW, where is that thread anyway? An older SLer pointed me to these forums and I didn't catch the thead that he was pointing to.

You don't usually need experience to jump on most newbies . . .

What thread? This *is* the "newbs relationship risks" thread, but maybe you are looking for the Undying Thread, or the Deviants Thread?

haha. Funny stuff.

However, I'm not in the market to get into a SL relationship. It's a line I will not cross under any circumstance.

As for the thread I was talking about, it was the SL and RL relationships and how they affect eachother and such. Don't remember the actual title of the thread. Oh well. I found this one and thought to add my own thoughts on the subject.

Eh...if someone learns something from it, it can't be bad, right? :)

Exactly. the way I see this, anyone is a relationship risk. "Older" Av's come with baggage. Newbies come with not knowing much. Which one is worse? Couldn't tell ya. All I can say is if things feel right, jump in and take the chance.

Do you find newbies to be any more or less a relationship risk than someone who's been inworld for 3 years?

He is NOT a risk if he is a decent man.

I found my partner - ProfessorKindly Kline - at Mahulu Telehub 10 minutes after he landed in sl. He proclaimed that he was an academic interested in the workings of sl. I told him I didnt trust or sleep with academics here or anywhere else. He typed "Errrrrr ..." I smiled in real. I friended him, teleported him home with me, left my dalliant partner of sorts (the Lycanthrope) and the Prof. and we have been together ever since. That was in late 2006 early 2007.

Newbs are not really "new". They are real people in "personas" or masks. If you find a commonality or can talk freely with each other then you have found the right person. My relationship with "Hal" (I changed his name coz I couldn't get passionate with a man called "ProfessorKindly";) has been a rewarding one. He has been at my side these years and months in sl, but he has also influenced my reality. He knows "of" me and can provide me with experience and a sense of scale to my issues. One advantage I find is that he is 64. So he can tell me some pretty amazing stories about when he was a young man in London in the 1960s. I trust him; friend or lover, sl or real, that is the most important factor.

I might add that when we travel and check in to hotels or whatever, turning on the computer and accessing SL to chat with a friend is a nice way to end anyone' day.

So take a chance with life, and have fun.
