I am actually on an obscure satellite television station today, weaving silk from moth cocoons. No joke. I soo seriously would love to see that! Do you mean spinning silk from the cocoons? Or weaving the spun silk? I have always wanted to both spin and weave though not so ambitious as to dream past wool ![]() ![]() _____________________

From what I can see it is a political discussion. Honey is evidently interested in Phil's Stimulus Package. Hopefully he at least kisses first - we are all already royally screwed with this one ![]() _____________________

I soo seriously would love to see that! Do you mean spinning silk from the cocoons? Or weaving the spun silk? I have always wanted to both spin and weave though not so ambitious as to dream past wool ![]() ![]() Both. The cocoons are dumped into a cauldron of scalding water and the silk is spun off the sad little buggers as they are parboiled. It was a fascinating business, apart from the fact that my fingers were peeling for weeks after: one person spins while the other has to watch the cocoons and snatch dead insects out of the water so they don't get tangled up in the thread. That was my job and I wasn't very dexterous as I went about it. I got to work on a loom also and wove about 2 millimetres of fabric before I damn near broke the thing. Anyways, I only mentioned it because it was curiously synchronous that the subject came up on this forum of all places today. PS The Drop Spun Dog Hairs would make a great name for an alternative folk group. (I'm trying to avoid imagining what it was you crocheted with it.) |

I've had several people voice the opinion that newbies are more of a relationship risk because they haven't had enough time to experience all that SL has to offer. I agree. My answer is: To them, yes. To you, no. |

People are people, whether new or veteran. Being a noob doesn't mean your intentions are any less or any more nefarious than being a veteran and vice versa.
You just have to get to know the person before you make the leap. Just because their a newb to SL, or a veteran, it doesn't make them a newb to life. |

Hey! Give me a chance. I may be a super-stud, but I'm not a miracle workeer. I haven't had time to royally screw all of you yet - or is some upstart trying to move in on my speciality??? O wait, but you have!!!! Remember that you are a botlord which is the SL equivalent to a RL slumlord ![]() Jesse's Law: As an SL forum thread which includes Phil grows longer, the probability that bots will be mentioned approaches one." EDIT: Luvs you anyways ![]() _____________________

People are people, whether new or veteran. Being a noob doesn't mean your intentions are any less or any more nefarious than being a veteran and vice versa. Speaking to my own post, I did not mean nefarious. I was not thinking of that sort of thing but as someone said about the potential for being hurt. That, to me, is 'risk'. The risk of being 'played' would always be equal, although perhaps those with more experience in a given environment might have the advantage there, intentions and intelligence otherwise being equal. But lack of experience in an environment, to me, sets one up more to be hurt. Sort of like the first romance in one's life vs. being around the block a few times. One tends to leave oneself less open perhaps. At least so it seems hearing these 'first heartbreak' stories about SL online and in this very forum. As someone else put it, I don't think 'noobs' will know what hit them, the first time someone in SL breaks their pixelly hearts. |

Yeah, that's the rough one....the intensity of emotions in SL being what they are, I'm glad that this is one thing I don't have to worry about! ![]() _____________________

Oh, if this forum would accept a big enough post, I'd list them, but it won't. It's reassuring to know that you are not one of them, Babybear ![]() Nope, definitely not Phil ![]() _____________________

![]() As far as the OP. I think anyone is a risk pretty much. No matter how new or old they may be. Just have to use your head I guess ,take it slow and watch for signs of flakiness. _____________________
