Sometime in the last few days Simons club was bombed and completely wiped out. Wheelies was one of the feel good stories of SL. Unfortunately it seems like there will be little help From LL. By starting this thread I'm hoping to show Simon how much support he has for his fellow SL's. And hopefully get the attention of a Linden willing to go out of there way to help. I know that sounds impossible, but I'm sure there are a few Lindens that give a damn about us residents. Please post replies to show support for Wheelies, any ideas on ways to help are appreciated. Also let the lindens know we want more response from them in these cases.

I'm not doubting, I'm just confused by your post. How can a club be "wiped out" by bombing. Second Life weapons don't destroy land or buildings.

Thank you. I didn't understand that part either.

from what i under stand they found a glitch to make it happen. Most of all items were wiped out. Im not a PC wiz, but i saw the after effects.

If that's what really happened the owner should contact LL immediately, that would be a major exploit.

I've seen stationary, non-physical prims wiped out by nukes.
I'm not sure how it works or how much nuking it takes, but it happens.
After club was attacked, it was missing a few cubes that make up the floor, and a couple of cube-shaped vendors. It probably took several nukes to achieve that... but still its kinda scary and puzzling.
Has anyone else seen this before?

I have no idea about weapons, but in the past it was possible that if you were near the prim limit and rezzed something that would put you over the limit, then instead of the new object failing to rez, much older prims got returned instead (ie someone described driving a vehicle up to their house, the vehicle makes it on the parcel but parts of the house simply vanished).

I think that was fixed in a rolling update just before 1.13 though.

I'm sorry to hear Simon's club was damaged. SL is a fantastic platform for people with disabilities. And Simon, if you're reading this, don't give up. It's great to hear about people doing positive things in SL. Keep on keeping on.

I've heard there is a nuke that creates a large crater and creates the "appearance" that the building is gone... but that is a special effect and the building & land revert to normal after a brief time. I've heard this one from a reputable source.

I've also heard (not from a reputable source) there is another nuke that "returns" the items to the owner. I don't believe that one because that would require the user to have landowner rights ["Return object"].

There is no object, so far as i know, that can "delete objects"... again, that requires landowner rights.

If your friend's club is gone, i would ask:
[1] did he own the land, or was he merely renting?
[2] if he owned, was the land group? And did he check with the other group officers?
A group founder sets the rights an officer has. This can include return/delete.
[3] if group, did he check the rights he gave his vip's??? did he accidently give them the right to return/delete?
[4] this may seem like a silly question, but was the club actually his? Or were the prims owned by someone else? Or was he merely the person in charge at the club (a manager)?

I saw something similar to what you describe happen at another club. It turned out to be a disgruntled group officer.

The damage I saw was probably around version 1.10
So that might be a clue. Thanks.

I'm confused too how any grief action could physically 'destroy' a club, save for some sort of exploit. As Ralph said above, if this is the case, I'd make sure that Linden is involved - perhaps contact the consierge Lindens for assistance.

Simon - if grief has been a chronic issue for you at Wheelies, consider checking out BanLink - its a free tool that makes it easier for folks to group together & share their parcel banlists. It does a decent job of blocking the flavor of griefer that travels from site to site sharing their wrath.

Hope this is useful! :)

You'd be amazed at some of the recent "exploit and bug" activity used by griefers. I had one that actually dispite being banned from the land and across a sim boarder...gave them the ability to do something with thier gun that can clear out a sim all avatars without using push at all. When I told LL...they just seemingly rolled thier eyes. Infact the griefer still bombs our place nightly but hasn't or can't use that effect again. How they could in the first place is beyond me.

PS yes I know it's vauge..and yes it's for a reason. Don't hand griefers ammo. ^_^

I've heard of this exploit, and it's a problem all right - but take comfort in the fact that the Lindens are extremely well aware of this particular exploit, and are working as quickly as they can to nerf it.

Kalel - what exactly are they doing? And what is the nature of the exploit?

I know they know. I've kept telling them the last three days about it if nothing else. If you are right I pray we are talking the same one. Otherwise it could suck badly if this is a new one. >_<

Gillian it is best not to give details as the griefers and troubled souls read this forum and they will attempt to use it to full extent if they can.

Absent more evidence, this seems rather dubious.

Unless the griefers are using alien technology!

My situation had about...6 people at once and all IMed me with the same answer as the only words being exactly the problem.

I just checked it out, and assuming I had the right location, it is indeed not there. Only 172 prims on the parcel.

Assuming it is indeed foul play, it would be really cool if a Lindon would restore it from a backup for him.

(Hint, hint.)

Isn't it also Possible that the owner got Fed up with the griefing, and just wiped the club Himself?

Anyway, Nothing in SL is gone forever, all the owner needs to do is Contact the Lindens, and have his land rolled back 24 hours, and Boom, the club will be back, No Problem.

Angel.

I know that estate owners on island sims can request such rollbacks. Whether it is possible on the mainland is another matter altogether. Torley, are you reading this thread? How's about a rollback for Simon?

Yes simon. Get banlink. You will need it now that your advertized. Advertizements = Targets! Also i have to say Sorry about what happened. SL is a open platform which not only gives us to ability to express ourselves in ways we cannot do IRL, but it also allows griefers to do the same. IRL they would be imprisoned for life if they did something like bomd a club, or possibly risk execution. On here they can get away with it.

LL doesn't care. So this is why Banlink Exists. I share this system with a few trusted sims. It's great to have this around to prevent your sim from being hit. Chances are those griefers have already hit a sim using banlink and are already on it's lists. Once they enter your sim they get sent home and ejected. I know i might be typo'ing a lot, but that is MY handicap. I suffer from arthritus and asperger. This even effects my Second Life as well as first.

rollback has allready been refused. and he did not get sick of having a popular place. It was hit and taken out.
