I am collector or SL art...

I don't know who the first was, but Starax Statosky's art is the rarest because he left the game and doesn't sell his work anymore. I've got a few of his pieces on display in Da Boom...

Thanks Rock!
I look at my art collection and can see a real change in art movements here - and prices are shooting up.
It is best thing about sl. Well, that and my partners.

I would really like to see some houses "protected" for the future - my own houses were built by my ex-partner who was a Real Life architect and designer. They are truly lovely and thoughtful. I have seen many places here that need to be documented. Is anyone willing to do so?

Hey FD!! If you do ever reinstate Dagon Grimm you simply must walk around the first day with a box on his head .. for old times sake :D[/QUOTE

I will if I do.
Recently I made very tiny griefer doll with no pants and box on his head.
He is about under .500 give or take.
If I can find him I give you copy if you send me hello in world later, much later because I am going to sleep.
I will wear a box on my head as Dagon Grimm but I won't wonder around with no pants.
Took me weeks first time to figure out how to get dressed in beta.

The oldest AVs are a bit more than 3 years older than you.

I know several from Mid 2003 that still show up hehe, but the oldest are from 2002.

Search for the group "Early Beta Members". Lots of fossils in that group, including Phillip Linden hehe. :)

I am the 2nd oldest resident to post here. Robyn York is 11 days older.

I'm considering botox and maybe some work around my eyes.

I was trying to find the link to the old website... it's archived somewhere on the net. It looked very different and there were some great beta-looking screenshots. Lots of default Linden hair on those avatars. I think Linden hair should make a comeback.

If anyone can find it please post the link! Maybe some of you history buffs have it. Paging Eggy Lippman or Oz Spade!

maybe look up some of these people and ask them :)

Alpha started on March 2002, under the name Linden World. The first residents were Steller Sunshine and Paul Zeeman. Other notable Alpha members include Mac Beach, Flyk Escher, BuhBuhCuh Fairchild, and bUTTONpUSHER Jones.

I still say that interested parties should get together and organize an "historical group"; I am proud to own a beautiful house in Chaska designed by a real life architect that should be preserved. Many new people arrive each day with a genuine interest in SL. By the way, I will shortly be opening a museum/gallery that will display works by artists from across SL that will be free admission (NO tip boxes) - I just ask that people will donate a few dollars to a REAL charity of their choice afterwards. When gallery is finally up and running I shall note it in the forum. I think people should be aware that we have great artists here. I have enjoyed collecting the art - now it is time for everyone to enjoy the pieces too.

How bizarre... You wait almost 7 years to make your first post here, and it is to resurrect a thread that is almost 3 years old. Hey oldtimer. :^)

My land in Mimas is the site of the first nightclub in SL, owned by David Valentino. It's one of the first pieces of land ever made.

I recently met an Av with a birth date of 2017. Either the profile was borked or future SL residents have discovered time travel.

Can't be. We all know that the old Maya calender ends in December 2012. This of course includes SL, so when the Big Unrezzing of the Prims begins in a little less than three years from now, even this resident will face the inevitable account cancellation!

We won't really know the oldest parcel in SL until the parcel age verification program takes effect.

;)

Don't quite see your logic connection between the age of parcels and age verification, but, in all actuality, sims are older than parcels. In the early days, sims were not sub'd into parcels rather they were one 64k sq meter sim and that's it. Parcels came along because "prim hogs" were taking up all the prims in the sim, so a system to split up prims was devised (by creating parcels that received the appropriate amount of prims based on the size of the parcel), to stop prim hogs from soaking up all the prims in a sim.

The grid status page reports that some residents are experiencing problems with their humor detection systems. In rare cases, even the presence of a winking smiley icon will not trigger the humor event. Humor events have been known to be held in queues at least as far back as 05-15-2007, 06:05 PM .

Wow.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time i have seen you put out false information about what SL was or could do in the past.

We could always subdivide sims into Parcels.

*I* was the prim hog that sparked the prim war in November that ultimately led to parcel prim limits. http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Prim_hog & /invalid_link.html

*I* was one of a few who gave ideas on how to stop prim hogging, and my idea just happened to be in use still now. /invalid_link.html

The only thing accurate you did say is that 1 person - like me - could come into a sim and hog the majority of the prims from everyone else - and back then we only had 10,000 per sim, not 15,000.

And once again - YOU COULD SUBDIVIDE SIMS INTO PARCELS EXACTLY LIKE TODAY.

Stop giving off your bad 411 guy.

I have some group land in the old Shipley sim.
The Claim Date in the About Land is given as December 2003 -- although the land was acquired in July 2008.
It was won at Auction, and it seems the claim date wasn't amended at it would be in a normal purchase.

I have some parcels in Jessie combat sim. The prims in the section of the old Outlands Jessie Wall on the Northern edge of the sim date back to October 2002.
The creator is Secret2 Linden with a rez date of July 2002, and an otherwise blank Profile.

pfft, like the stargazing mayans knew anything... everyone knows Dennis Ritchie was more of a visionary and that time ends in 2038 on tues, jan 19th at 3:14:07... then it starts anew in 1901 on fri dec 13th at 20:45:52... celebrated with an early weekend and an early christmas =)

SL is really a world of itself when people are discussing the first prim rezzed.

Such cool history.
