Is there a easy way to identify the oldest (earliest established) places in SL?

I seem to remember somewhere on Torley Linden's website that there is a picture of what is THOUGHT to be the oldest standing object in SL...it's a statue.
I believe someone found a couple pieces of wall on Governor Linden's mansion that are days older than the statue...but not the entire structure. _____________________

It's "The Man" statue. I seem to recall it's not far from the Ivory Tower of Primitives. The Man is from the original beat, I believe. Also, Gov. Linden's Mansion is up there in age, too.

is there a way to see the 'date/time' stamp on a prim? Yeah, just edit it and look at the general info on it. What about the oldest active av? I've seen some old school cats in SL before...and I'm starting to be in that category myself. I'd be curious to see that info...maybe have an "SL Book of InWorld Records" or something? That would be sweet!! _____________________

I know several from Mid 2003 that still show up hehe, but the oldest are from 2002. |

Yeah, I've seen one from 2003 and that's about as old as I've seen. But I want to know names!!! Maybe one of these fake news blogs for SL could do an "oldest person alive in SL" article and interview the person. Fake news, anyone? _____________________

You may see prim details now by using the "inspect" function on the pie.
Stellar Sunshine was the original SL resident and she's around still. Her beanstalk rocks. _____________________

We won't really know the oldest parcel in SL until the parcel age verification program takes effect.

How could we forget the Shangri-La build in Dore and the Old West build in Oak Grove? Both date back to beta.
Edit: Its not really a build, but the Freebie Bazaar in Stillman also goes back to beta. If you have never been there, check it out. Its like a big ol' junky time capsule. ![]() _____________________

Hey this is a nice thread. Maybe others could post pics too from way back. That (almost) first map is great to see how sl has evolved in such a short time.

Here is a cool site I found. Kinda outdated it seems but it has some cool records to look at. Trying to figure out a way to make my name relevant in the site. Unfortunately I do nothing of value to SL.

Dagon Grimm was made in 2002, he was my first avatar but I can't reactivate him not sure if he even exist in the search data base but I know there were people older then he was then. I made him shortly after TSO went public.
I wish I could remember where my home was in 2002. LOL |

The general shape of SL was already in place when I came aboard, and my generation is usually not part of whatever may pass for insiders around here. Not that it matters; each iteration must make its own space. But I'd be very very curious to get a list of when different last names were issued, which would tend to date certain avatars. Not to be snoopy or anything. _____________________

Okay, so people who don't play "Vampire: The Masquerade won't get that". Still, I rarely see people older than even me, and I'm only just approaching my first birthday. Have the oldies dropped out or are they slumbering in some underground cavern somewhere, awaiting the end of the world to emerge and consume us? |
