I'm a guarded person but I do like helping people. Would be happy to show you around SL anywhere you would like to go, a smut tour guide if you will. I can even get you into Zindra. But it will cost you a prim or two (joke. Prims are free).

Send me an IM in world. If you are going to write about SL you should really know something about being IN it. :)

If you need someone to demonstrate with, Clarissa, just give me a call . . .

Pep ( . . . and I'll round up the other three you need. ;) )

PS When is the Forum Cartel Secession Party? That might offer an opportunity for familiarisation.

Thanks to all of you who are at least willing to give me half the benefit of the doubt. (And yes, you made me laugh with that line about salacious and leering.) First of all, you're right, I suppose I could be just about anyone, with my aol address. But the fact is, the NYT Magazine staff, as opposed to the staff of the daily paper, doesn't have NYT addresses; I don't know why. There have always been more important things to think about, till now. One way we could do this: you could write to the address on my website (danielbergner.com), I'll reply, and that way you'd know for sure.

Second thing (and I have to ask your forgiveneness), I'm fairly technologically incompetent. If you're suggesting that I visit certain areas of SL, before you'd be willing to talk, you may need to tell me how to get there, though I'm going to set out on my own now.

Last thing: I am NOT looking for a scandal. And if any of you will speak with me you'll find that out pretty quickly, as I explain my current book project.

Thanks again.....

I'll make you a deal. Show up with the answers to this week's Crossword Puzzle and we'll talk. Just be warned, you may get a scandal anyway........ :p

I suspect that many here would be willing to give you a hand. Speaking from a professional voice (I've done some RL newspaper work too) it really *is* in your best interest to get the lay of the land. You'll get better material that way. Think of it as exploring a culture or country, rather than simply viewing it as "another web dating service" or some such.

I'm not involved in SL in a romantic or sexual way, so I cannot help too much on those aspects. Still, feel free to look me up inworld, and I'll do what I can to help. :)

I would have given him half a chance if he said he was with Fox News. (^_^)y

Yes, but what about Sky News? Report Mainz? ;)

OK, I asked Mr. Bergner about this at a different address, and can confirm that this is for real. So stop with the wacky conspiracy theories already!

No. This will just make them more wacky, therefore more entertaining.

PPPS Not a parrot - just differently focused.

Just - don't be an ex parrot. You keep things lively.

You're not suggesting that we should make up fantasies for the benefit of the press are you?

I hadn't thought of that. Lol. Well, that's one possibility though, that any journalist/survey taker has to watch out for isn't it. I'm thinking the forumites could probably make up some fairly scintillating tales, though, now you mention it - and some might even be true!

Any ladies want to take on a new make over project?

You know we all find a makeover irresistible, although why, I don't know.

Lol - three?

...I'm afraid to ask.

Marianne: One thing you might be able to speak to on Daniel's proposed topic is ageplay in SL such as for instance, how some people lump all child avatars into that mess, and punish them accordingly...

What is your focus/angle, Daniel?

I would advise you not to get too close to Mari, Daniel

But this is the Official Friday Thread, isn't it?

Pep (By definition, the request *is* in the nature of a proposd conspiracy. ;) )

PS Be careful throwing words like "ageplay" around in front of 'journalists', Clarissa!

I don't think that would relevant to his topic, to be honest. Judging from what he has said and his body of work, I suspect hew would be far more interested in folks like Ghosty and Elora. Hence why I indicated that my SL knowledge might be a bit limited for him: I can only relate second-hand relationship stories of the type he wants. :)

That's why I asked him what his angle was.

We COULD, if we wanted, put together a very brief tour for you, Mr. Bergner, sort of a quick intro to how couples live, and a little brush with the we're-here-for-sex subculture as well. Maybe take two hours, and get you up to speed quicker than just stumbling around.

Three or so houses from our recent home tour, a visit to a sex sim (I'm afraid my info there is out of date), a drop by a BDSM place (say, the Forum [no relation to this place], or Open Collar, or for a touch of the bizarre, the Gorean Hub), maybe drop in on Mari's fireworks, and a party at the Cartel or elsewhere, and he should be all set, don't you think?

That would work!

LOL! you really do have quite the talent for advertising, don't you?

(Pep is here only to entertain himself, Mr. Bergner, and at all times may be safely ignored, tho if you enjoy his comments, by all means. Just don't expect any of them to be actually true.)
