I'm late getting in on this thread... I'm in Kingston (accross the Sound from Seattle). Right now I'm too busy prepping for the Gig Harbor Ren Faire (horse stuff) to get away to any distant meetups, however... On the July 22nd, a Saturday (two weeks from yesterday) I'll be dancing at Port Gamble from noon to 3:00 (four shows). We set up a little "gypsy" camp and entertain the passersby. For those who don't know, Port Gamble is a late 19th century Mill Town and a very cool place: http://www.portgamble.com/default.asp?ID=16Come on by and say "hi"! Better yet, come and hang with us! My web page w/ more info: http://www.home.earthlink.net/~nebbo/nabila/id3.htmlCheers, Nabila Nadir (Nawar in RL)

Haven't been there in quite some time Have a lot of friends as well as family on that edge of the sound. Went to North Kitsap High School myself. Living in Seattle currently, but this meetup sounds like a great idea!

It's actually quite shocking to find out just how many people - in my case in the seattle area - are in second life (and doing well!) Meetups in the region are fairly common, seems the social spirit is alive and well from BC on down to Northern CA. Meetups when planned well are fantastic It's the random ones that tend to cause problems We tend to hold our gatherings at well travelled times - ie New Years - Seafair - Tri Cities Cup - and of course Norwescon. Always easier than doing Hey let's meeet at some restaurant 100 miles away! etc etc etc. In any case, good luck!

From: Delpha Deckard I would definitely be interested in going to this! I would love to meet some of you I know in world. Eugene would be ideal, since I live in Coos Bay -- although Portland would be good also (Money, money, money..Mooooney). This would give me a chance to set Jaycatt's tail on fire...kidding! I thought my tail was burning! Or was that my ears? hehe

SL art show at Seattle's Bumbershoot
08-24-2006 17:17
I'm organizing an art show for Bumbershoot Arts festival in Seattle and it could end up being a get-together (of sorts) for Pacific NW SL users. The festival opens Fri Sept 1 and runs Sept 2, 3 and 4.
The show will include new virtual art projects made on an island called Sudo. It's supported by Bumbershoot Visual Arts and (in part) by the Frye Art Museum.
I'm looking for people to use SL in the exhibition space to show RL visitors the virtual projects on Sudo. There will be 3 computers and their screens will be projected onto three 7 x 10 foot rear projection screens showing the island from the point of view of your avatar -- or an alt avatar. Some understanding of contemporary art is great, but you don't have to lecture or anything. I'd like to have people that are comfortable having casual conversations about the project or basic issues regarding SL if people do ask you questions. However, it's up to you to select what questions you want to answer.
Some of the show will als be paintings, drawing and photos done by artists responding to SL.
I can give tickets to Bumbershoot Music festival in exchange for your participation. If you are interested please IM me and I can send you more info about the show.
You can see a little more info about the show here. sl-art-news.blogspot.com Look for the headlines that includes Bumbershoot & Frye Art Museum.

From: Corwin Weber ...they don't want to have to fight their way through the panhandlers? Seriously..... Belltown is one disturbing place. Yeap it is very over-rated and disturbing neighborhood. I am long time resident of Belltown, I am not sure if its worse now when it was just drug addicts and artist here or when the gangbangers, gentrification happen. Just saying hi

Eugene Area for me
02-07-2007 08:47
I see that the majority of the posts here are at least 6 months old, but I thought I'd jump in. I can't travel, but if anything does ever come of a Eugene area meet up, I'll attend. I liked the idea of Gateway Mall. All public and stuff

I'm always up for a Eugene meet up Odds are Frogg and I could even play a live show if it was close by. I live in Eugene and work in Springfield. Maybe we should do both a Oregon, and Washington one, people who can make both make both, for me it is always easier to go north than south. so both Portland and Seattle are easy but Eugene is not as easy. A more central to the valley (sorry to those who are in Oregon and not in the valley) is Salem. No not a major city but still a ok place to meet. Also there are various types of cons in the NW that people could do a meet up at. sakuracon in April, Kumoricon in September, orycon in November, and I don't know when rainfurist is going to be but there is that as well. think inside/outside/around the box.

Has anybody actually taken point on this?
03-12-2007 10:18
I'm in West Portland (on Burnside; technically I'm in SW by about eighty feet), and am willing to travel to Seattle if necessary for a big meet (family to stay with up there). If anybody is reading this thread and taking names, count me in as a "yes plus two" for any event. IM me inworld!
And may I suggest the Roxy diner near Powell's for a meet location?

SL Group = Portland Oregon SL Community
03-20-2007 12:03
FYI, there is a SL group "Portland Oregon SL Community" to support networking for those living or thinking of moving to the Portland metro area. The group is currently set up so that members can broadcast messages to the gorup.
