And if mastercard called you on a SUNDAY, I call you a liar. That's their day off.

Archie: Your efforts, fury, bile and venom are misdirected.

Losing your rag here isn't going to achieve anything except make people argue with you over details. This is not a support channel, you are not going to get an official Linden response from posting in here.

You need to find the Billing support email address for LL and email them directly, and also get on the phone to support tomorrow. (But remember, Support are in the US, so don't call them first thing UK time as they won't be there)

Blowing up here and demanding that something be done is not going to make anything constructive happen. Arguing your point with us is time you're not spending complaining to the people who can actually do anything for you.

Did Mastercard the credit card company call you? Or did your credit card division of your bank call you? Neither Mastercard nor my bank has called me...........and I have two (Mastercard and Visa) with my bank. I would imagine if the bank was concerned both my cards would be blocked from LL transactions.........and neither are. :)

It may be Bank Holiday weekend in the UK right now, but it's not for the Indian sweatshops which handle our customer service issues. ;)

Btw., i just switched my payment method to use my HBOS Mastercard, and it won't let me buy Lindens with it for the same reason it wouldn't let me use my Visa card other day: LL ain't asking for a cardholder name anymore, and that's required for UK based credit card transactions.

Ah well, back to the buggy Paypal method.

They think Linden labs is a porn site

From: someone
LINDEN LABS IS AUTOMATICALLY BLOCKED AS A POTENTIAL FRAUD SITE

From: someone
This site is used by villains to launder stolen credit card cash back into dollars.

What a load of doubletalking BS.

Here is what you do, You call and speak with a representative of Linden Labs and they will personally contact your card issuing bank. Then you call your bank manager and verify that they spoke with a reprsentative of Linden Labs and try to workout a resolution. Posting here does nothing especailly when there are thousands of users that have MasterCard as their current payment information.

In many places around the world, people in all sorts of lines of work, work weekends, many banks are open, and so on. You're apparently living in the past?

Look guys, he is upset, maybe a bit too upset, but, are you really ready to call him a liar?

We don't have all the facts, and I think that he may be confusing mastercard with the bank, so let's give him a chance to calm down and explain it a bit more, if he has the necessary info to do so.

Archie?

Yes banks freeze cards!
05-06-2007 14:52
Archie,
and All

I use a Major bank Visa for payment and have had my card frozen twice, as a prevention for possible unauthorized card usge. It seems that the bank is concerned about large online purchases to game sites. This only happens when I try to buy more than $500 dollars US of Lindens at a time (always because I want to buy some piece of property).
The cure is to call the bank and authorize the atttempted purchase as having been done by me, and YES the bank does call on Sundays, it's an automated computer call from the fraud department and one can press the appropiate button to respond to the authorizaton menu.

So it seems it is probably the bank calling him...........Not Mastercard (or Visa). That's sort of what I think too.

I think you and the others who are jumping all over him enjoy it more than he does.

I'm told there's also a cure for belligerence.

Mastercard is a membership organization consisting of some 30,000 financial institutions who issue the card. Mastercard does not have the capacity to "block" payments to a particular entity. The individual financial institution who issued the card to you are the people you need to be speaking to. They're the ones who are blocking the payment. Not Mastercard and not Linden Lab.

Try and be nice to the rest of the folks here. Even I do that on occasion and it makes me happy.

Had he posted ONE thread.... I would have taken some serious interest in his issue. Had he posted 2 threads, I would have casually noted the fact, and basically ignored him. But to have this person posting... "I am surgically qualified to remove testicles"..... and post THREE threads on the same subject... he's lost all credibility now.

He doesn't want a discussion, he wants an argument.

"This isn't up for debate, its a fact and I've just discussed it with the Royal bank of Scotland."

"Two banks called me on a Sunday. They think Linden labs is a porn site My wife thinks this is a porn site my daughters think I am a pervert."

"I am surgically qualified to remove the Lindens testicles."

Three threads of this... in 30 minutes, and you're defending this guy?

Frankly, the troll here is the OP. blowing up the story in huge exaggerated terms "my daughters think I am a pervert".... if his daughters think that an adult, choosing to access adult materials on an adult online service is "perverted" then he's done a damned lousy job of parenting. If his wife knows so little about this 'game' he's been playing for 4+ months now that she thinks it's "a porn site".. then either he's a damned lousy spouse, or else maybe his daughters are right. :D

As regards the technicalities of this issue, and whether or not the claim that Mastercard has blocked all payments worldwide to Linden Labs.. I can't comment personally. What I can (and chose to) comment on, was the simple fact that this guy couldn't get a rise with one thread, so he posted another.. and when he couldn't get a rise there, he posted another.

To the OP: You do yourself a great disservice when you post in the fit of panic and anger. When you exaggerate your circumstances, you only lessen your credibility. I am reminded of the person who suffered an inventory loss the day before her wedding.. and rather than asking for help pulling some things together in time, she chose to waste that energy wailing about how LL had ruined her life.

IN the end, we were able to cut through the random fires and flaming that went back and forth... but see how much energy you've wasted.. arguing with people who don't beleive that two banks phoned you on a Sunday regarding your attempt to pay LL with your Mastercard? you've actually LOST the sympathy of people who routinely jump in and try to help people (myself I count as one of them).

If you had taken that 30 minutes to form a question to ask... rather than to climb atop a chair and shout in outrage.. and then climb a table, then a wall...

Peggy,

The the Visa credit card is issued by a bank and yes it's the issuing bank's fraud departmet that calls.

Archie,

You just need to call the number on the back of your card and there will be a record of the attempted purchase and a way to authorize it , Usually all automated without needed to talk to a customer rep.

As to how to prevent this from happening? I guess you either have to stick to mutiple small pruchases or call the bank and see if they can avoid the freeze before hand knowing that you are going to make a large purchase to this game site.

There may be some truth to this. I have 2 transactions from 5/2 and 2 from 5/4 which are still listed as "Pending Authorizations" on my credit card's website. I have never seen anything pending like this. It is a Mastercard issued by a major US bank. If it's still there in the morning, I'm going to call my bank and see what they say.

So, you're solution is to rewrite his quotes (trolling for a response)?

I hope it makes you feel better about yourself to try and humiliate him more. Do you have esteem issues which cause you to act out as such? Or is it just the fact that it's ever so much easier to insult and ridicule from a position of anonimity than to try and get to the bottom of the issue and help solve it? What are you adding to the conversation besides cynicism, sarcasm and ridicule?

He started multiple threads because trolls like you kept peppering him with sarcasm and calling him a liar.

Honestly, there are about a dozen or so of you on here who just can't resist any possible opportunity to take a swipe at someone, anytime they bring an issue forward.

Larisa,
I suggest you call the number on the back of your card right now and I bet that those attempted purchases will be listed as needing authorization ,you should be able to press a number in response to a menu to authenticate the attempted purchases as having been made by you.
