Aww how cute. It better have Ellen in it!

Hmm ok no Ellen, but there's Steve Zahn who ROCKS, and also characters named Fish Out of Water, Runt of the Litter, and Ugly Duckling!

Newer Residents to Second Life like myself stand to learn a LOT by listening to the "oldbies" and what they did the first time around last year with 1.2 ... I've been sitting down, eagerly hearing tales from our "honored SL veterans", and this all does seem quite redundant.

Next year, we'll be passing down the tales of these times to the next avatar generation. :)

Yep I agree Torley... and especially for people like ME too, who has seen stuff like this happen TIME and TIME again in various online VR worlds, games, etc. :p

. . .Seriously, I think that if many of the newer folk understood how dedicated Philip, Cory, Robin, et al are to making SL not just survive but thrive, they might be a bit less worried and more trusting that these changes will work out. The Lindens have the best interests of SL in mind, and they have the tools for monitoring and determining the best course of action. . .

Beryl, I so want to thank you for this comment. If I had a nickle for every time I told someone in-game that "LL is not trying to shoot themselves in the foot..." - well, let's just say I'd never worry about another L$ I spent!

Happy Birthday, Chicken Little! :D Though I wasn't here for your previous appearance, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us all NEXT YEAR!

Nikki, I probably have some atoning to do for worrying a bit over the last big SL change (1.2 in January 2004). I must admit, I was about as worried as many people are right now about that particular evolvement.

But, LL seemed to know what they were doing, and within a few months after 1.2's deployment, SL was experiencing higher new member enrollment than ever before. So, I'm maintaining an optimistic outlook and reserving final judgment on the most recent changes. I think I have good reason to be optimistic, given LL's track record.

It seems like just a year ago, we were at a similar place, people freaking out, gloom and doom, protests, signs, people burning themselves in effigy. The sky was also falling then, according to some yet here we stand a year later, perfectly fine, sky still firmly intact (and much prettier than it used to be, great job on the whole sunset thing LL). In honor of this new round of hysteria, I say to you Happy Birthday, Chicken Little! I know it is a bit belated, but I haven't seen you around since right before version 1.2. Welcome back, watch out for pieces of the sky falling on your cake.

Hehe...how cute Cris. You're so fuckin' adorable. *besos* :p

I swear to gawd, you people sound like you're one hundred and twenty years old, reminiscing about the Spanish-American War.

"Remember what you were doing when the fucking U.S.S. Maine blew up in Havana harbor?"

"Oh, yeah, I was slopping the pigs in backyard before I took Matilda to the Five and Dime for a soda, wow, those were the days...."

Pass on, already!

Admittedly, Beryl, I panicked at first. And I had a lot of friends (whom I love dearly) who were panicking alongside me, and we were all fueling each other's fires. ;)

But, after some time without anyone around me panicking (i.e., time out of SL) I had some time to really think about all of this. The one thing that persisted in my mind, and which Robin reinforced in Dore yesterday, was that IF this proves to be a mistake, LL will re-evaluate the situation and make changes again. And that, I believe, is the biggest difference between LL and certain *cough*There*cough* other 3D worlds. ;)

That's really the best you can come up with? A weak reference to your own addiction? Go back and sit in the shade, dude. It's "cooler" there.

lol, you sound like a Texan. Worst of the south and worst of the west. :D
