Try telling that to a software company, digital artist/author, or anyone else selling 1's and 0's. IP has REAL value even if you think it doesn't. What will you do when the world's economy runs entirely on 1's and 0's? Will you cast it aside and live the way we did thousands of years ago (hunting and gathering)?

If you want to play a hunting and gathering game, go play World of Warcraft (you'll still have to pay for it). SL is not a GAME.

If you believe in a Singularity you might get your wish in another 50 years (+ or -). We are not that advanced yet, and an economy based on the transfer of goods and services for $ or barter is the best thing we have at the moment.

They put a few hours into making something and they expect a "meal ticket" forever! I have never seen such Greed. I am not sure if they sell their own iteams or have taken someones full permission freebie and sell them. I am not saying names but we know who they are.............

I must be doing something wrong. Most of the things I create here take time and effort. Often hours and hours of work. Can you clue me in on how to make things with "no effort"?



Since the existance of money and (some) intellectual property protections is established in the user agreement between each player and Linden Labs, and Linden Labs promotes such in its advertisting, I take it you believe that Linden Labs should go back on its word--lie.

Most religions and ethical systems believe lying and breaking ones word are sources of evil. I take it you disagree. Or are a hypocrite?



And once you have "only good people" left, how does Linden Labs make money? Oh right--that's the root of all evil. Obviously Linden Labs should produce the game free--and host it free. After all the SL world is "imaginary" and was created with "no effort". I wonder if the electricity it takes to run the servers--and the rent on the servers--and the money they have to pay their employees to live on is also "imaginary"?

Now I am done.

What is established by responses is this:

It takes effort to make this game. People use time and skill over long periods to make quality things for us to play with in our imaginary world. They are real people doing real work to support our play. Thier imagination fuels the creative act.

Then I tell you what I find truly evil.

It is truly evil to deny the creators of these things thier rightful reward. I look at cost of buying linden and I feel people who make thing in game ask for so little form individuals. Even most expensive toys and clothes are not so much to ask.

It evil that people laugh as linden become less value. It evil lto say pay game greator also reward creative people because it does not!

I note no one of that side come to defend me when I say same thing as them only more bluntly. I think they know they do evil thing but make belive they have reason to "deserve" the effort of other for no pay.

I say thank you to all who have made the things I play with in the game. I buy what I can from trade maket to get more linden so I can reward more creators. One day maybe I learn to create and be among those who have bring value to the time I play in game.

I have such respect for those who can make song that express thing I feel better than I ever might manage. I find it honor to pay to hear them play.

Well then we agree, except we might have differing views on reality. When I hear someone play and say "Can you play this" and they play it, um, that's uh, reality... doesn't quite matter if it's on the phone calling into a radio station, IMing a live TV show, or gesturizing in a floppyshinyland where we can fly we can fly we can fly.

What about the creative people who make your sl life more entertaining and rewarding? Without people creating and imagining ... well lets all get comfy on our empty unterraformed sim. Screw that I can use yahoo if all I want to do is chat.

I am a dramatic sort of woman it would seem.

I hereby transfer all of my SL assets to the rock outside my door. Since imagination takes no effort the rock should be beaming with new ideas (if only it had a hand).

no offense but it seems you were trying to make a point in a very roundabout confusing way. You start off saying money is evil and no one is doing any REAL effort... then you say we should take care of content creators? What exactly are you trying to say?

I think it important to make mention here of answers to people who do the shameful things:

I am understand that not all thing in game are of value to you. That is natural and I make no demand that you reward those who not make thing that make your play more fun.

The linden you get for pay premium is prehaps contractual obligation. I say it should not be offered again to anyone, but stay live up to obligation.

I say it good that people get linden no more for no pay as Robin make known. Now it important to change culture that say buy linden is bad, this culture is sickness. To buy linden for reward of creators of things we like is wellness.

I see I have done more harm than good. I try to make clear:

I attempt to make pont by blunty saying things I see many to say here. Except I put it plainly. There is much lack respect for effort and skill of creators. There is evil laughing at fact they are seeing value of ther reward fall away. They cover and shine away thier evil by make claim of deserving to not reward the people who make thing they want. I say the claim plainly in first writing, it game and nothing in game to have real value.

This is insult to all who make valuable thing. If you do not see value in anything other do then you will not need linden. Is simple. If there is value in only single thing in game, then you need small linden to give in return for what they give you. If many, many thing then you need many linden.

Linden become life money on trade market, life money used to improve life of creator. It maybe pay for land creatur use in game. It maybe they pay for internet. It maybe they buy a food treat.

I relish that I maybe help someone who gave me the beautiful hair I wear in game extra life money to get something that make thier life happier. It make me sad to know others belive the makers efforts mean nothing to some people who have same hair. Why do they have the hair if they did not value it?

I hope this write make me more clear to you.

I am a premium member who pays Linden Labs money for Premium and Tier. I do not earn any money in SL. I cant build and dont know the script language. However I do give a nice amount of dollars to Linden Labs and I am greedy?
