Why would someone selling something (like land on an estate) be against empowering consumers to be able to optionally filter one type of land from the other? Hmm.

That's what I don't understand here, Flack....some of the posters seem to be taking an opportunity to bash mainland sellers for even voicing their opinions on the subject.

I agree, if estate land is so great, I don't see why people would be against filtering it in the search.

Yeah, I've certainly read the bashing you speak of in this thread, Snowflake. It appears to be a convenient way to sidestep the core issue.

Hopefully the Lindens will make a decision on filtering and/or distinguishing these types of land promptly.

I remember when concerns of a lack of ability to "distinguish between mainland/private sims" first came up and options like these were suggested back then, so... sounds like it's (beyond) about time.

I'm not in the land business so I have no clue about the fuss. Like alot of the people here I wish the island estate owners success with renting out their island sims-certainly island characteritics can be said to be very advantageous to home owners. However misconstruing rental properties as real estate sales I think does quite a disservice to the general population at large and creates a huge window of vulnerability for the game. Some others have suggested segregating the rental land from the mainland land and that I'd have to totally agree on. Buying a lot on an island is still renting no matter how people paint the picture.

Goood for Torley noticing the problem and with the vote proposal I had made, its nice to see the system does work when feature suggestions are made

I do not think this about land dealers vs other, mainland owner vs. island land owners. What people are simply asking for is options; options to filter.
I do not see what the harm would be, if default is all, and if you chose you can chosse to see only private sim land or maingrid land; same as with PG and mature.
I mean why would I have to look at the list at all mature land if I am sure I want PG land, same as why do I have to scroll through all private sim land if I have 1024sqm tier on my linden tier?

The pricing of mainland and private sim land is also in most cases way different. Now a newbie opens landlist to see what land is worth when he wants to sell his first land. He now sees amazing lots for 1L$/sq. m...oh well, my ugly 512sq. m cannot be more worth than 0.5L$/sq. m then,,,

Not teleported to buy any of these 1/sqm lots to see what kind of warning texts it actually tells you; if it makes it 100% clear to you , it is a different tier system, explains excatly what zoning rules are and if it informs me clearly if I can resell the land at anytime to anyone I wish.

In whole I think it is good private sim owners can list their land, the land list just do not need more clutter without more filters. It already has some 6000 lots in a holy mess ( making finding land very hard) add now the private sim land there and it will not be more easy to read. Next step is one can add imagenary land? Land I wish I had and wish I would be selling?

I got out of mainland because of people like Hulka, Dragon and you so I don't really care. The cut throat and plain ripping off is just well like I said before karma.
.

I have never ever seen Sarah Nerd rip anyone off. I have seen her, however, give a mistake right back to the owner. She does nothing but provide great prices (the lowest on the mainland) for quality land.

great post Raymond!

This has been beaten to death in other parts of the forum. Sarah Nerd in fact is known among many people (and this is based on what i've read, seen and heard) for being honest. Despite whom she may group or assosciate with... (and don't get me wrong, as far as i'm concerned those individual's 'evilness' is still up for much debate and I do not agree with all of this "swooper" tag garbage). If you haven't noticed, the people raising the biggest fuss in this forum are Estate Owners, not all, just some. Glory Takushi (?) and others have been pushing this Mainland vs. Estate land dealers junk all forum. From what I can see:

ALL THAT MOST OF THE MAINLAND DEALERS (AND SOME ESTATE OWNERS) ARE ASKING FOR IS A SEARCH FILTER. Mainland land is GREAT. Estate land is GREAT. But, they are different. PG/MATURE, FOR SALE/FIRST LAND/AUCTION -- C'mon! They are all Linden Servers sitting somewhere, but they all have some properties which make them different. SO DOES ESTATE LAND.

How can anyone argue that? Seriously? I mean -- THEY EVEN HAVE DIFFERENT NAMES!

lol

Currently, I see "L$1 for 4080sqm" and suchlike. I am in the "land purchase" search dialog, not the "rental advertisement" search dialog. This does not belong.

The flood of <L$2.0/sq.m estate land "rentals" in the land search is irrititating, as they are bound to show up almost no matter what you search for, but not a problem, per se. The problem is the flood of $L4+/sq.m estate land that is intermixed indistinguishably with sales from the mainland.

I like rezzing prims. To support my nasty prim addiction, I have to buy land. I am currently interested in buying more land, but I am currently NOT interested in buying estate land. Estate land and mainland have different purchase implications, but are not readily distinguishable from the search dialog interface. Looking to see if there's more land I'd like to buy is now much more tedious.

As a land buyer, I would strongly prefer the ability to filter out what I am not currently interested in buying, in this case, estate land. It is just that simple.

I see there is a proposal on this subject:

I hope the response is as rapid as the timely correction of the missing square meters in the "about land" box.
