Either that or they are trying to make us keep our U$D balance kept online so users can later use it to pay for their land ownership fees every month.

Why does LindeX not give you the lowest price available? I have searched for a way to buy from specific price ranges also and can not find a way to do that.

In GOM it was easy, you filled out how many blocks you wished and it filled from the cheapest on up.

I clearly see that LindeX says it has lindens at L$262/$1 with L$142,313 in the bank. Yet I want to buy just $20 worth and it quotes me at L$258/$1 not the cheapest.

Lawrence it's awesome as a sack of baby possums to see all your replies here... :)

Beryl Greenacre and I—and more!—were wondering, could the Transaction Fees please be listed MORE CLEARLY on the web menu for LindeX? They are in a place a lot of my friends are missing, and as a result, we have to keep asking around and it's inefficient and a digital tragedy.

Like, on the lefthand side of the screen, when you click CURRENCY, it expands to show this:

buy linden dollars
sell linden dollars
view market data
transaction history

Could "transaction fees" be a 5th option there too? It seems pretty straightforward and would be clearer. Thanxorama.

You know what, though, Torley... what I think would make it clearer to people is if it said "Withdrawal Information" (or something similar) on the link instead of "Transaction Fees." What seems intuitive to me is for a user to ask him/herself, "Gee, now how do I get my money out of LindeX," so it would make more sense to me if Lindens would make a link with those withdrawal instructions and then include the transaction fees on that same page.

Just my $.02. :D

Okay let's go for it!

WITHDRAWAL INFO

And add to that, is there a LindeX FAQ up compiled from this thread, or is it not out yet?

The reason it quotes a higher price is because the US$0.30 purchasing fee is taken into the equation.

That makes sense, but would be more clear if you were able to see exactly how much you were buying L$ for and THEN add the $0.30 to that and then a total owed.

Still Waiting :(((

Yesterday was my first exchange on LindeX, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how painless and quick it was. Everything sold same-day, for a decent rate, and was in my PayPal account by 10am today, even though I sent the withdrawl request well after business hours last night.

Once the withdrawl requests are automated and those fees lowered, I think it will be great.

Well Here I am still waiting on my money to hit PayPal. No repsonse at all form LL and no money either. It has hardly been smooth thus far. Where is my money??

Unfortunately our finance people don't work on the weekend, but your request should be processed today. I've updated this page to try to clarify several things, including how long a Paypal withdrawal may take.

How about something more encompassing than "Withdrawal Info" that could include the fees info as well? Any suggestions?

No, I haven't had a chance to compile a FAQ yet... that too is on my todo list. However, this week I'm the "grid monkey" which means I'm on-call 24/7, so I may not be able to make a lot of progress on LindeX updates this week. I will be focusing on getting Paypal Mass Payment setup so that we can increase our responsiveness, and lower the Paypal fees.

I just updated the fees page itself to try to make things clearer, also linking it to the transaction history page. Looking for an appropriate name for it if I'm to make it a menu item.

I always does give you the best price available... the estimated rate includes the $0.30 buyer-side fee. For example, try entering L$1, it should cost $US0.31 and give you an estimated rate of something like L$3/US$1.00.

At some point in the future I want to break the fees out more clearly on those screens when you use the advanced interface mode.

How about just changing it to LindX?

It sounds the same, but in writing it doesnt look that much like a cheap swedish clothing chain. :) Lindex is probably the cheapest clothing chain in the Scandinavian market, with outlets in almost every city.

Or maybe LinEx? I think LindX is better.

But I think SLExchange would have been the best name. :) Why not just buy them out and integrate their shopping site in the client while you're at it? :D

I agree re:SLExchange, they sure did pick a good name. LindX isn't a bad alternative.

I don't have any ideas past this at the moment regarding what to label it (apart from the aforementioned "transaction info", since that's what the page itself is called)—but I just am tickled pink to see how LindeX has been growing organically... and I feel that your replies here, Lawrence, have made a YUGE difference insofar as communication goes. Resis inworld have said how kewl it is you're so on it here. I think this is a historical first too—besides LindeX, the very thing of so many Linden replies in a single thread... hahaha! :D

Lawrence, pending code complete, I think you should call people when sell orders are executed. My cell phone number is 954-555-1212. Please give me a ring as my orders are filled. You can leave a voice mail if I don't answer.

I call, but you never return my voicemail. ;)

From: Buster Peel
P.S. how about adding the $US per 1000 L$ to the "todays statistics" panel? GOM had it both ways, why not Lindex?

I'll give that a definite maybe... I'm not convinced that adding US$/L$1000 to everywhere it it can be displayed along side L$/US$1.00 will be a net win. I'd rather expend the energy creating some data download pages so that Residents can roll their own graphs and spreadsheets.

From: Buster Peel
Number of trades would be useful too, so we can get a feel for the average trade size. (Or, just the average trade size.)

That's part of the output of the daily summarization code, so once the data is downloadable you should have access to that info.

Lawrence

I didn't realize until just now that this thread about LindeX is where the action is. I won't commit the sin of double posting, but instead point you all at the post of mine about above market buy orders. Please consider it included here.

Limit buy orders are pretty high on my priority list. First I need to get the Paypal mass payment automation going, and resolve completly what our billing process for limit buy orders should be.

The *easy* and seemingly safest route for billing would be to only allow people with a sufficient US$ balance to be able to place a limit buy order. At the moment the order is placed than LindeX would start to holds the US$ in the same way LindeX hold the L$ today for limit sell orders.

The *best* way from my perspective is to integrate all LindeX US$ billing into the normal nightly billing cycle where we'd hit people's credit cards at most once a day for whatever balance is due at that time. However, I have to audit all the fraud controls before we can do that which is a process I'm not willing to rush.

The *other* way to do it would be to disallow partial fills on limit buy orders. I'm not too keen on this and I think that would be confusing.

So for the near term we may go the easy way, and as time allows work toward doing things that best way.

Wow - that *IS* action! Thanks for the super-quick reply!

Speaking personally, as a occasional buyer of L$, the *easy* path would be fine for me.

I'm not sure there is an emergency need for limit buy orders.

Limit buy orders are more a traders tool, and it's not entirely clear that you want traders in this market.

OK that is great and I am glad your sorting this out but first it took days to get processed and then I just now have received this lovely treat that you guys sent me an eCheck?? So now I must wait 3 to 4 more days before my funds will clear.

So how are people getting instant payment and I am getitng an eCheck?

per PayPal:
This eCheck payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds clear from the sender's account, which usually takes 3-4 business days......

I think your idea for the best way might be over complicating things. Perhaps it would be easier to use a withdraw and deposit to the US$ balance like GOM did. Where people can add funds instantly with deposit, and withdraw once a day using their desired method. You can then only allow people to place limit buy orders by instantly debiting the overall balance and crediting a "holding" balance for open orders. I think letting the person wait to the end of the day to have the credit card charged is just asking someone to try to buy more than their credit card can handle. Just my opinions though, it is your baby. :)

I got that too with my withdrawal. I sure hope this eCheck thing is temporary until they get mass pay hooked up. 3-4 days extra wait (on top of just getting the withdrawal processed) is a bit much.

That's strange. My PayPal payment didn't come as an ECheck, or need any time to clear. It went through the next morning with no problems, no wait at all. All I did was send the email saying "I would like to withdraw $XXX to my PayPal account, at XXX@XXX.XXX."

Yep that's what I wrote too in my request email basically. I wonder why they were processed differently.
