From: Cocoanut Koala That's right, DNA. You didn't mention my name. You merely referenced a post I made in another thread. That doesn't get you off in my book. It doesn't automatically make me not mad. But you know that. The question is, why does it automatically make you mad in the first place? I know it hasn't been in the least easy for you on these forums. Still, I simply do not see the use in answering every last barb sent your way. Seems to me a huge waste of time for you. There are always going to be people who dislike you, or dislike things about you, or things you do. Whether they came to this decision in right or wrong ways, for just or unjust reasons, for rational cause or emotional reaction, makes not a whit of difference, and you know it. It's one thing to stand up for yourself and what you belive in, another to get caught in every petty little quarrel.

You are right, of course, and Aimee gave me the same advice. And it provides some people entirely too much fun. I guess it's because I don't use any of the other things you can do when this sort of thing goes on. Reporting the post. Or doing a personal attack back. Will not report posts, even for harrassment, will not call names back. (Although I just did; I'll edit that out.) Yet, I can't allow a smear campaign to continue either. And I already ignore a lot. So I've been thinking, I need to come up with a clever phrase, a shorthand sort of thing, that I could reply with for those times when I'm sick to death of it, rather than raving. I'll give that some thought, and when I come up with it, I'll report back on this thread. coco

And try to understand sometimes someone has a bad day or they've had a bad experience. Sometimes even phrasing my response in a different way as in "I can see how you would feel that way but". Maybe I'm silly but I think everyone has a valid reason for posting. While posting is quick and easy and sometimes done in haste or anger, it doesn't invalidate the reason behind it. Plus I think everyone could use a hug. I know that sounds so corny, but try to find someone to hug today. The act of hugging itself releases so many good feelings. I try to hug one extra person a day. Or even a smile. I have this thing where I smile at people in public, of course I wouldn't try this in NYC, but my city is relatively small. When someone returns that smile, it's an awesome feeling. Oops sorry, I went off on a tangent.

NYC - you can smile everywhere in public there! When I lived there, I used to have this co-worker who drove me NUTS smiling all over the office. A wonderful person she was, and gorgeous, and offbeat, and I swear, smiled at everybody all the time. Not during conversations, but as she passed your cubicle, all that. New Yorkers are the most wonderful people in the world. Even the cranky looking ones, I'd smile at them and discover softies on the inside. Where I live now - Atlanta - same thing. I don't think it's a big city thing. coco
