I must say I agree with Moopf - what relevance does this have to the rest of SL?

Yes you can spell my name right, and for that I thank you ![]() The natural continuation of the political discussion was your project, yes I agree. You took those interested along with you as well, didn't you? You see I've thought about it, and I really could care less if you're doing this in your little part of the world with your own group of interested people. What you do in your own group is fine by me, but that's why you have a group forum, isn't it? Which brings me nicely back to my original point.... Moopf I like ya and I loved your shops..... but I remember you posting here about your new rollerskates a ways back....how is this different? |

Erm Talen, actually very different as /invalid_link.html (which is the only thread I think you're referring to, reason being it's the only thread that mentions my skates apparently) wasn't even started by me. So yeah, very different. _____________________

She isn't selling anything and I don't see the difference between someone telling us of happenings in SL and this. |

I am not really overly familiar with Ulrika, but I suspect there may be deeper friction against her or her project fueling the "You are in the wrong forum" arguement.
It would appear she is making a public offer to all SL users to get involved in a political project. That would make the General forum the right place to announce. It certainly seems more on topic than a lot of General posts. ![]() (bracing for impact) _____________________

It certainly seems more on topic than a lot of General posts. ![]() (bracing for impact) To be honest I've never really had much contact with Ulrika on the forums at all, and I don't really have an opinion of her either way, apart from knowing that she made a great video for the animation contest and that she's really interested in politics. The "you are in the wrong forum" argument comes from Linden Lab themselves making the rules, creating the specific little pidgeon holes that they do. Even if you don't agree with those pidgeon holes, it would be nice if people actually stuck to them, or if LL showed some consistency. What interests me most you're the only person who's posted in support so far that isn't actually a part of the Neultenburg group. Gwyneth, Talen and Pendari all appear to be from what I can make out, so it's hardly suprising that they won't find it off-topic. She's made this appeal several times before about getting people involved. Those that wanted to, did. I agree that it's a lot more on-topic that a lot of general posts, but I just happened to read this one, and still find it off-topic in view of the fact that they have their own group forum to do this. _____________________

Maybe so, but you *DID* start all of the following threads in the General Forum that are about the Numbakulla Island Project /120/08/26175/1.html /120/f6/25565/1.html /120/19/28744/1.html /120/41/28858/1.html And personally I enjoyed seeing and reading those threads on the General Forum. But in all honesty, I do not see them as *any* different than this thread by Ulrika. _____________________

I'm not part of it either and I have no trouble with a thread like this. It's an SL 1st by the sounds of it so why not.
Sure beats another poll about cheese or pecan pie. _____________________

Exactly, which is why this belongs in your group forum. If people are interested they'll go there and find out. If you can't respect the rules put in place by LL, I don't think much of an organized society created by you, eh? Mooph --How is the announcement any different than this? /120/19/28744/1.html |

If you read my posts you'll find that my complaint is because this project already has it's own, well used apparently, board on this forum. Does the Numbakulla Project? Nope. _____________________

The only problem I have with this being in the general forum is that new users may get confused. Talking about voting and government may bring people to believe this is for all of SecondLife.
I think the city is a great thing, but it should stay within it's member group, the confines of it's city limits, and within it's own forum section to prevent confusion. If an event that includes the entire world such as voting .. well that should be placed in the events section ![]() |

*Wonders whether to run for a seat on this assembly so as to, like Trotsky, 'bore from within'....then reconsiders, when it's always possible to 'bore from without' by writing long posts on the forums*

Actually I remember way back when I first joined, there was a mass notification if anyone wanted to be nominated for President of SL. Many sent in their nomations. This went on for weeks. Then shortly after, the voting began. Which went on for weeks. And I believe we have a President of SL. I dont think he or she ever does anything, writes anything, governs anything. And I think thats the way the majority of SL liked it - maybe it was a joke, a ruse, a thing to do at the time. So technically, serious or not, I believe that was SLs first democratic government vote. Thats because I beheaded the elected President of SL. Long live King Phillip I and King Shepp the Great *bow down you worthless peasants!!!* _____________________

And, yes, that was for fun, it was not real, so while democratic, it was not for a real political office. I would submit for consideration that this same reasoning could be applied to the N-berg Project. The only 'real' political office in SL is 'Linden Liason'. Any political office gained by any other method in SL is no more real than 'President of SL', even if the contributors to such an office take it more seriously. Good luck on the vote - will be interesting to see how the project develops afterwards. _____________________

The polls have opened for all citizens of Neualtenburg and will remain open for 48 hours. I just cast the first vote today with Jauani Wu following shortly thereafter!
SL can be so absolutely thrilling. Imagine a group of people building a city, defining a government, creating voting infrastructure, and then electing representatives. There is no other game like this one. Thanks SL! I'll never forget this! ![]() ~Ulrika~ _____________________
