Well this is it, the announcement of the winning team of the Numbakulla Island Project competition is upon us....
It gives me great pleasure to announce 'The Pot Healer' team the winner of the competition to develop and launch an attraction on Numbakulla for 6 months. This team consists of Caliandris Pendragon (team leader), Ambyance Anubis, Baron Grayson, Cierrah Blair, Ratt Foo, Santana Lumiere, Sky Everett, Strife Onizuka, Slade Onizuka and Zapoteth Zaius.
Here's a little extract of what's going to be in store:
"The Pot Healers is an experimental game development team. Our objective is to offer an immersive game that challenges and enchants the player, as well as challenge current SL limitations in modeling, environmental interactivity while maintaining a low lag experience.
Our focus, at the gamers level, is to give each player a fully explorable and immersive environment that will challenge and enchant. Each step will flawlessly meld mental challenge, beauty, and intricate detail to draw one into a new world. "
And that's all I'm at liberty to say at the moment I'm afraid. Suffice to say that the proposal is very exciting. Watch this space!
I would like to finish by saying thank you to all the seven teams who entered proposals for this competition. The quality of all was good and the judging panel had a difficult decision coming up with the winner. I'd like to wish all the teams good luck in their future endeavors and I hope that their project plans see the light of day through another means.

Well from Midnight PST tonight Numbakulla will no longer be a sandbox and will be handed over to the team. I'll update this thread with more information soon.

Ah Moopf... glad to hear this decision has been arrived at. Pot healers? Pot heals, alright! *puff puff* Seriously though, congratulations to the Pot Healers team. I know some of you already, and have a feeling I will get to know the rest of you in due time. I look forward to your game. This oughta be fun. If it's like Myst or Longest Journey in it's atmosphere... muhahaha... I will get ravenous!

Numbakulla is now closed. It's still visible but, because Estate tools on joined islands don't actually work the way they should (suprise, suprise), I've had to use a scripted security system to limit access to the project team.
It will give unauthorised people an instant message and teleport them home. I've parceled up the teleporter as well so that you won't get the annoying not authorised messages if you teleport there by accident. I'll make any improvements to the handling of teleporting home I can over the next few days, I just wanted to warn people, and if anybody has any advice on best practice for this or improvements I could make just let me know.
I don't want to annoy people with this but, unfortuatnely, I've had to resort to it because of the *cough*buggy nature*cough* of estate tools when islands are joined.

Hey Moopf, just fyi...Robin came to Mae's island the other day to discuss some bugs, we mentioned all the problems we've been having, estate tools included, and they are supposed to be checking into them more in depth for us. So hopefully, things will get better soon. And congrats Pot Healers! Welcome to Oceana! We can't wait to see what you're building.

Well let's hope that they sort out the fact that I have my teleporter now at the farthest point away from Fairchang Island (North-west corner of Numbakulla) yet if people go to their events they still end up at my teleporter - except because of the other bugs I've had to set the security scripts to return people home if they come in at the teleporter. It's absolutely bloody ridiculous to be honest. So yes, I hope that Robin sorts things out but my guess is she'll pass it on to Jeska, who'll discuss it with the developers, who'll end up telling her that it's the way it's currently designed. Farce. No other word for it.

From: Princess Medici I havent' been in world since Thursday...I didn't know you moved the teleporter and are *still* having problems. That is ridiculous. Well I moved it on Thursday to the middle of the sim then I found out today from Garth that the problem was still happening so moved it to the North-west corner. Logged on later and Garth said it was still happening - this is the furthest I can get it away from Fairchang! It wouldn't be such an issue if I hadn't had to introduce scripted security because the Estate land access tools don't actually work on joined islands - so to limit access to the group members I'm having to teleport home others, which means the people who end up at my telehub for Fairchang events are getting booted home again. The whole thing is an ill thought out fudge, poorly designed and poorly implemented. It is, you're absolutely correct, ridiculous. Fortuantely the winning team are cool as beans and working with me on it, even though it's making things difficult.

As are Garth and Pituca, I should add! Sorry, I re-read this and thought I should mention that they're being great about it. I believe that as a short-term solution they've moved their telehub to a different place in their sim (which I think has solved the problem), and they've been very understanding about it.
