This was a really lame thing to do and definitely not something I'd brag about. It's also not fair to drag Anshe in to it. When someone buys land should they have to research the history of it and make sure no one's feelings will be hurt or no one's getting stepped on by the sale? It's not the buyer's fault. This loophole definitely needs to be closed. That someone other than the person who paid for the land can sell it out from under the group is bad news. Cyanide, whatever it is that makes you think these people deserved it, you've just proven you're no better. Well done.

I wasn't saying Anshe was bad for buying it, even if she did check the history and she had some spark of morality and didn't buy it, someone else would of. Just saying that she HAS done stuff like that before. _____________________

Hang on I gotta go in world and check out who the most talented builders and scripters in SL are
![]() As for the rest.. I think it would suit your soon to be reputation if you changed the group name to 'turdwranglers'. Nothin to be proud of here.... _____________________

Just saying that she HAS done stuff like that before. Could you be more specific please? What kind of stuff has she done? When did she do it? Have you seen it yourself? |

Ask around, I'd be surprised if you didn't find more than a few negative firsthand stories. I could tell you a few myself, but I have a feeling they'd all be denounced. _____________________

I agree with Artemis. Trust is invaluable especially in a group situation like SL where there are no checks and balances in group ownership. This is a lesson I learned well from Xaphon Mendicant in March of this year. He was an officer, and Fred was a member of a failed group of mine in Jessie. Being my first group I trusted Xaphon somewhat prematurely, gave him officer status in the group, and gave him land to build upon. Fred and Xaphon were quite the regulars on that land for awhile. Fred scripting his heart out while Xaphon happily blasted everything in site. It was fun for awhile.
I had to leave the game for about a month for family reasons, when I came back Xaphon had taken the land from the group. When I asked him about it he said it would be returned. Next thing I knew he had sold it off for 10K linden. I learned my lesson, bought my land back from Clint Cartier (very reasonably). Xaphon had left the group. I disbanded the group, kicked Xaphon out of Opfor and went on with the game. I should thank Xaphon really for not relieving me of the lot of it, and for the lesson. It made me appreciate the cats in Opfor that much more. The really funny thing about all the above is, well, Fred knew all about it. Now, I am not saying Fred had anything to do with it, but he know about it. Then upon making the Monkey's he allowed Xaphon officer status. Fred is not to blame, but man, you certainly didn't cover your ass. Fred's a good scriptor, decent guy, sorry this happened to him. Cyanide is Cyanide. Xaphon is a chronic group land thief, and a rich one at this point. |

yes i remembered your inncident the second it happened to me...sadly we werent lucky enough to be able to buy our land back...and its not like we'd pay thoose ijits anyways.
i wonder if more press would be interested in the roughly $400 USD* the lindens are letting people steal in an online game...hmmmmm. (notices none of them have bothered to comment) *based on current e-bay prices |

Hi everyone-
I'm the scripter of XLS. I'd like to say that I haven't even logged onto Second Life in the past few days, so as it is clear, this was NOT a unanimous group decision. I make no claim to even be a "great" scripter, let alone the best in the game. I don't know where Xaphon got the idea that we were the best. We don't even have merchandise for sale yet (though we will soon, and I think it's pretty good stuff- but then again, I'm a bit biased ). |

Lance. I can understand your position. It sounds more like Two Guys Being 'Clever'.
'Never underestimate the power of stupid people on large groups' and all that. I don't claim to be much of a scripter either. Also, scripter to scripter, watch your ass with those two. You might end up getting [Edited by Jeska: Burke! Shame on you!] |

No, I trust them- for a couple reasons.
Firstly, I know Cyanide outside of Second Life. Secondly, I can see why Xaphon took the land from Fred. I won't go into the details due to the forum regulations. IM me in-world some time and I'll tell you. I wouldn't have done it, but I can see why. Also, I think it should be noted that Fred is certainly no great shakes as a scripter. The gun script in his guns were originally made by Valforath (Spelling?) Grimm- right click one and click "Properties". I also had the chance to look inside "his" script, and I can clearly see where his modifications were made- it's where the spagetti code begins. |

Hehe. I use modded gun code too. I'm a nitpicker so I usually reduce the amount of code in my stuff. I'm working on a decent anti-sheild round to deal with arseholes that don't understand the words 'no shooting'. I'm SO glad that I have my own lot to use as a workspace, because now I can do... pretty much anything I wanted to a person that started acting a fool on my lot.

Ah, anti-shield rounds are deceptively simple. IM me in-world sometime and I'll tell you how.

I am having a hard time trying to figure out where any of this can be justified. Forum rules or not, the facts are pretty straight fucking forward. Xaphon comes up with some reason to convince others, maybe even himself, for stealing land from a group. He then steals the land NOT TO MAKE STATEMENT, but rather to sell the property for gobs of linden. If the story is as straight forward as claimed, Cy was blocked from Jessie by Monkey scripts, so Xaphon stole the land to put an end to it. Statement made, give the land back. What is being missed here is that Cyanide is a member of WWii, and has been for as long as I have known him. If he was blocked from group land in Jessie, getting back in is as easy a mailing a Linden and being patient. As stated before, Xaphon came up with a reason to steal our group land while I was away. he could have held onto it until I came back but chose rather to go for the Linden instead of his 'principle'. The point here m8 is that there is no principle behind stealing 100K worth of Linden land no matter how you try to justify it. And as for Fred's guns, I don't know where the script originated, nor do I care. I can tell you that he shared scripts and guns fairly openly in group. If the code was pasta, so what, his weapons worked pretty damn well from what I saw. I am really happy you see a bit of a flaw in Xaphon's conduct, but I think you are lame for stating "I am not with them", followed by a glaring retraction. |

I made no retraction, and I never said "I am not with them". I have said I am not with them in THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, but I understand why they did it. As for Fred's code- my point is that while I have never seen him say it was his code, he lets people believe that he wrote it from scratch. Also, as for the functionality of the code- get a few people firing it at once in a sim, and watch the FPS. I'm willing to bet it'll drop a bit. _____________________

You gave out copy/mod copies- I'm pretty sure there's precedent for this, and besides- it's not like I'm selling anything with your scripts in it.... why would I WANT to, anyways?

I've already explained how the script isn't stolen. What other "toys" are you talking about?
Besides, I've just about finished up a superior, more effecient script. It would be done, but I kinda accidentally saved over it and lost a few hours.. but whichever. _____________________

This thread is patently ridiculous.
The lindens shouldn't have meddled in this squabbling, if you ask me; it sets a dangerous precedent of babysitting. If one group member fucks the other, well, maybe they should be a smidge more careful about their business partners. I can count on one hand the people I truly trust in SL, and it's only through months (sometimes years) of knowing them before I can fully invest in their trust. People knowingly bringing enemies into their organization (if I read correctly, they had been orbiting cyanide around Jessie before this all happened) are getting what's coming to them, honestly. And I mean... Jessie, for Chrissakes. It's SUPPOSED to be anarchy in the streets, that's the intention of the damn Sim! This is all a bunch of adolescent chest-thumping and poo-slinging. You all are going to get what's coming to you. LF _____________________
