Being that none of us but you folks know what really went on, your confirmation doesn't mean much. Sorry, but that's my take on it.

If you want to know what happened, you should have read the interview.

Moreover if you don't know what happened, maybe you should be keeping your opinions to yourself.

I did read the interview. Now you're assuming. C'est la vie, I suppose.

I don't know you, and I only know of Cyanide because he has been around for a long time.

I am not calling you liars, I am simply stating that I do not know your group or the Monkeys group, or any of your two groups members beyond what I read on SLH. So you're saying I am supposed to take the word of an admitted double-crosser at face value just because you tell me I should? Not going to happen.

Now, I am not upset at your group or the Monkeys, I do not know any details beyond your claim that "they deserved this". Not enough "evidence" cited for me to form a real opinion about whether that is true, or what may have actually transpired. I started this thread to bring more attention to a gaping flaw in the group management tools, and to ask for people's feedback on it, not to argue with you. If you want to spar, find someone else, because I am not going to entertain you.

I do want to thank you, however. The more that this type of stuff goes on, the more the Lindens will notice, and hopefully expedite revisions to the group tools.

Linden Labs should do more
08-07-2005 17:20
i think Linden Labs could and should do more about things like this, the can see who has the land now and who had it and how much the person paid for it and could easly tell if it was stolen by what they paid for it. Its just an assholr act to do things like this and the people who did it should b publicly named floged over and over again and full banning for ip and card cos i hate to say it but thats just how a bunch of 16yo's act and i thought everyone was ment to be "overage" well guess i was wrong there.
and how could any group deserved that, your haveing a fight with 1 or 2 people in a group so u stuff up the whole group and make another person lose all the money they put into the land, grow up and come back when your the right ages to play

P.S. Nero you onley think space monkeys had it coming cos u got found out makeing other people work open source which was very low on your behalf, but now u have shown how u really are to the whole of second life, your not even the same worth as the scum that sits in the bottem of everyones toilet

its very cute that you say 'pwnt' it makes me laugh even that i thought i could trust you...i gave you control over my scripts, masamune gave u control over the land inadvertantly, and yet in spite of that you've stolen my scritps his land and rpetty much ruined months of my own eprsonal ahrd work after saying when asked about your intentions for this new group and saying (quote)"whatever i do i still want to work with you." this obiously was a good sly ploy to capture it all..im afraid you cant take jessie still. i will fight you in cities and the street, myself and i admit, i dowt i will be alone.

Ugh....

Trust. Is a valuable thing.

This is the reason why people have locks, barred windows, guns, and all those things that make the society steadily sliding down to a pit of distrust where a person eyes their friends with beady distrust.

What Xaphon, Sweet, and Cyanide did was absolutely dispicable, even if you had problems with the people it happened too, and even if it was completely legal by ToS standards.

I only hope that people will remember Xaphon, Sweet, and Cyanide for being completely untrustworthy bastards.

Cyanide, if I see you in Nexus Prime again, i'll orbit you myself.

Thanks for editing your post. It was rather humorous to see such a glaring error when you had just condemned others for their grammatical inferiority.

Can we please not have this turn into an XLS versus Space Monkey fisticuffs?

I would like to hear thoughts on whether or not people view this as a real problem, and if so, how they think LL should go about fixing it.

That does not include grammar policing, threats of street wars, or assertions that people should be permabanned for working within the rules.

Some of us may not like the fact that it was within the rules, but it was, so let's discuss how to fix it, rather than continuing some sort of Jessie gang war.

If you want to do that, I can go start a thread for you in off-topic.

more should be done

Linden Labs should do more, they can easly see that the land has been stolen(or sold to at a very low price) the can easly give the land back to the group that is ment to have it they just dont want to make more work, it could take them about 2 mins not even that to give the land back to where it is ment to be

LL fix something...hmmmmm.
i really wish they would, but they arent psychologists and they arent responsible for every griefer whackjob that plays online games. xaphon was let into the group treated like a brother. i expect stuff like this from cyanide..and sweet i dont even know well, except he does have skill building. so the only behavior that shocks me is xaphons, your untalented butt can stay closed.
kthxbye

i vote for rights of the lands when it comes to selling remain with the one that bought it. if he/she wants to give it away then he/she can. this way youre just getting wacked when u trust someone that suddenly turns his back and runs with your land for some lame reason.

Sounds like a good idea, having secondary primary owner land pieces, so that the person who's paying for it can sell it and that's it

votes dont allways work tho, like what of the person that paid for the land wants to leve the group then they lost the land they paid for, if someone paid for it and there onley holding a bit of the land tier in the group for it the it should b sold and the money split between the people "holding" the land the the person who paid for it, we would thinhk that everyone could b adult about this but as we have all seen thats just not going to happen.
So what nexr? dont trust anyone? dont make friends incase the turn there back on you later? i think some people just need to grow up and if the have probs with a cpl of people in a group take it up with them and not everyone

I agree completely that there should be more levels of group officers/members. 2 just doesnt cut it. I dont think there should necessarily be a vote for whether land can be sold or not, but I do think that the person who paid for it should have at least some influence, unless they have left the group. There REALLY need to be alot of changes in the group system. Trust is something we are incapable of in any situation, RL or SL. The only gaurantee we have are the laws and regulations that back us up as individuals. I am horrified at the thought that such criminals are protected under the TOS. Can you explain to me how they can steal 80,000L worth of land from me and walk away... but if I just shoot them once I can be banned? It just doesnt make any sense to me... More importantly, land is thereason we pay LL monthly fees. Our tiers are most likely a large portion of their income, and if we dont own land what income do they really have? What justification do we have to own land if we can't even protect the land we own and insure it as our property? I think I read another post about property rights, or maybe it was when i first signed up, there was a page talking about content protection. I was under the impression that my content was mine, and that LL understood how important it is that their products or property is protected. Who will own land if it isnt protected? Who will buy products or develop products if it isnt protected? I sure as hell know I will think twice about it all from now on...

Pwnt, is a fitting term here.
Was it wrong? Yes.
Was it clever and deserving of 'pwnt'? Yes.
Is it going to spark a war? We can only hope.

Really the best I can hope for is that the title of untrustworthy sticks to these people.

And Nolan is right. Xaphon has definately shown that he can look a bunch of friends right in the eyes and give them a smile, then when they turn around, stab them all in the backs. I wouldn't be surprised if he did it again.

All it takes is one fight in XLS and he might decide that the plan that woked now will work again.

Well yeah, Anshe Chung more than anyone in SL knows the importance of making money more than keeping morals.

Hehe
Not that I'd ever form a large group of scriptors, builders, gamers, etc, and them steamroll other groups like a darwinian blitzkreig or anything.

*puts on his glowing halo and grins*

No, I'd never do that. The three oddly name groups I belong to with closed membership and invisible rosters are nothing like that.
