From: Moopf Murray Wow, you went out of your way to take a quote of me out of context from page 2 of this thread for the sole purpose of making a derogatory and inflamatory comment about me? Sheesh. I think he was just illustrating that you were overly emphatic and cynical. Please tell me when what page someone was referring to had any bearing on anything.

From: Moopf Murray Well if I knew what it was I'd be able to decide if I could stop it or not. What is it? Cheese! Or Waffles, take your pick. *hugs to ALL*

From: Moopf Murray He could of just said that, couldn't he. Certainly. He chose to use an analogy though. That happens a lot around here.

From: Nolan Nash Please tell me when what page someone was referring to had any bearing on anything. Because I always get the feeling that people are either (a) not bothering to read the full discourse or (b) just picking something out to be inflamatory for the sake of it. I always find it odd when people feel the need to quote from way back in a thread, just to bring things back to the surface, generally so they can use it to make a dig.

I have both been a victim and a purveyor of that which you describe. He probably should have directly engaged you, although I have a feeling his message would have been much the same, in either case.

I think it is safe to say lessons were learned on all sides. We cannot live our lives thinking "what if". Let's all stand up as adults and say "yes this happened, yes we recognize the improprieties, yes we all dealt with it. Lets not fall into the trap of beating these issues to death, shooting the messenger, idolizing the perpetrators or the victim. Let's all take a deep breath and go back to our sl's all the wiser for this experience. I appreciate the fact that Path stood up and did the right thing, regardless of the reasons. This however does not make him a hero, nor does it Prok. Now lets let it go knowing we are the wiser for knowing the truth. Cat

Personally speaking I applaud the guy for saying what the rest of Linden Labs were probably thinking.

*Nods curtly to Pathfinder*.
*Not smiling*
This is the second such apology, Pathfinder.
The first was over Nolan Nash, and letting his RL disclosures sit on the forums, and administering a wrist-slap, and not acting swiftly and effectively at that moment when it was required, to limit the damage and to punish the offender for a clear-cut TOS violation.
The second was for behaving inappropriately in the IRC channel and seeming to chime-in on a gang-bang against another resident.
Does being a Linden mean always having to say you're sorry, but never having to enforce the TOS when it counts, when others violate it with impunity?
When you can more credibly enforce the TOS across the board for all, and have it affect without fear or favor the members of the Feted Inner Core, then you'll find people join you in the laudable effort of cleaning up forums, making the community a nicer place, creating a better impression for newbies.
But the TOS aren't enforced fairly and some people are merely made victims of a "selective prosecution" policy. Worse, the AR system itself becomes the plaything of the FIC when people like Kex Godel and Nicole Linden can jack it up to ban someone on a fake trumped-up PG swearing violation merely because they hate their ideas on the forums, and their fighting back vehemently -- against people who violate the TOS and engage in personal insult and invective *first*.
The AR system on the forums here becomes utterly lacking in credibility when people like pandastrong Fairplay and Cienna Samiam can jack up the system after baiting mercillessly their latest prey, and insulting them first, and then sitting back to let them fry. Cienna can publish the most heinous insults, lies, and falsehoods, coupled with RL disclosures, and clearly *has not even received an informal warning because she goes on doing the same thing*. This is utterly appalling.
I'm not sending back the bear or the calling card this time because I continue to believe in you. I hope it will be better some day.
I'm just terribly disenchanted and disillusioned right now, above all, by the knowledge that you are not a new person, a fresh set of intelligent eyes this situation, but an old player, and old player with networks, an already-existing FIC, who got turned into a Linden. That system itself seems to me what spawns the highly, highly unbalanced and selective enforcement of the TOS, and makes it a non-credible instrument for this community.

That was the longest and most stupid hug that I have ever seen.

Gee, Random / Prok, perhaps you could apologize for one thing ever and show Pathfinder how sincere you can be?

From: someone Gee, Random / Prok, perhaps you could apologize for one thing ever and show Pathfinder how sincere you can be? I didn't do anything wrong. I have nothing to apologize. They didn't enforce the TOS months ago when it needed to be enforced against the 20 junk-yard dogs on here that engaged in personal insult and humiliation routinely. They didn't enforce the TOS against clear-cult release of RL information. They didn't do this first. So if I fight back, if this leads to skating on thin ice on the TOS, and that leads to selecting prosecution, well, so be it. Let them enforce their TOS fairly across the board against those who use personal insult and the release of RL information to advance their agendas on the forums. My sincerity to Pathfinder is absolute, and I am keeping his bear and his calling card and hoping there will always be an open channel of communication between me and Pathfinder.

From: Hiro Pendragon Gee, Random / Prok, perhaps you could apologize for one thing ever and show Pathfinder how sincere you can be? Hard to apologize when you're insistant you've done nothing wrong, as demonstrated by the post above... ah well, the 'Just Don't Get It' club must be really proud of their newest member.
