It's been awhile, and I'm terrible with names, but I -believe- it was Garth Fairchild. It was in Americana, outside of his diner. He said Hi, and asked if I was new. Everybody knew everybody then. I had bought a pair of wings ( I was going for the fairy look back then) and they wern't attached correctly, so I asked him what was wrong and he showed me how to use edit to get things placed right.
Thanks again Garth! ![]() _____________________

Who was the first person in SL to help you when you first entered this world? Do you remember their name and how and what they taught you? Do you still keep in touch with that person? The first person I met was Stampshady Grimm. He was the first person I met and he helped show me a few basic things as in walking, focusing with camera angles and he showed me my first mall which was his and even gave me $500 lindens to have a spending spree ![]() The people whom helped me out was Baccara and Shadow weaver.. Baccara took me under her wing for the week of my free trial, showed me how to buy clothes and take them out of the boxes gave me some clothing and jewelry( i still have the diamond bracelet she gave me) she introduced me to sinatra and a few other members at this time i joined as SL was comming out of beta, there was nothing to do but shop ![]() ![]() _____________________

... there was this white ferry av on one of the landing pads. The ferry had a ghost lights attachment and wings. I was just amazed at the bueaty of the av against the sky background with the trees. I wish i had taken a picture. I was actually visualizing someone wearing the boat to Catalina for several minutes before I realized this was supposed to be 'fairy'! (Sorry, Strife - not meaning to knock the spelling!) I think I might make a ferry AV with ghost lights... it appeals. _____________________

Loki Pico. He's da man! Mah mentor fer sure! I ran into him many moons ago right after visiting the Ivory Tower for the first time... saw him standing over on his platform and flew over to say hi. It musta been the orange skin that caught my eye! (and NO, I did NOT make my avatar orange just because of Loki!
![]() I still see him around here and there, but it's been a while since I've made it a point to find him specifically... yea I know, BAD BAD Artillo! Last time we hung out together, we were beating the drum circle at Burning Life for like 3 hours! GOOD TIMES!!! A few others that come to mind that I met early on in-world would be FlipperPA Peregrine, Hudson Stryker, Scareltt Fonzarelli, Palomma Casanova (who I knew from Activeworlds before), and Stroker Serpentine. Peace! Artillo _____________________

But then I met Schwanson Schlegel and that made everything all better. He's a good egg. ![]() There is a video floating around on the Internet of Schwanson entitled "When Good Eggs Go Bad" - you should try and find a copy, it is shocking! ![]() _____________________

Oh, Ingrid - you can't leave us dangling! We have to hear the whole story! ![]() Here's my sordid Paris Parks story. On my first day I ended up trading my 512 landless land right next to the telehub in Lozi for other land Paris had. It was a direct trade, she didn't give me extra money for it. It was only after the deal was done that I realized that it was 336 sq m and a long skinny piece of land that I couldn't even build on. I didn't know how to view the property lines or check the size of the land on my 1st day so I got pretty screwed. Schwan was around, came over, probably felt sorry for me cause I was such a dumb n00b, bought my cruddy piece of land for far more than he should have (which still might be for sale in Lozi) and let me use a chunk of his land nearby to build on and mess around with while I got my act together. He gave me a cigar, vodka and a few other rude things that I can't mention here and suddenly I felt a whole lot better about SL. Incidently, my original landless land just sold for a whole lot on the auction boards when they sold all her property. Kinda funny... |

Marcos Fonzarelli was the first person I had an actual conversation with. He gave me a ride on the hoverpad, took me to the mall, showed me his Armord vendor ... and eventually abandoned me in Luna. Yesh. ![]() Hah! Usually when I take people to Luna they get so wrapped up in the shopping I just leave them there and tell them to IM me if they need any help. Everytime I see Lash she's wearing something different, so I think you can figure out how the rest of her Luna experience went. ![]() |

Great friends forever in SL
10-15-2004 12:54
I had one personal friend that recruited me from another well known game to the world of SL. He is still the most sincere friend in RL and in SL. I know he would want to remain anonymous, but he knows who he is and if he reads this. I have so many other friends now that help me all the time. They laugh with me and at me for all the mistakes I still make. Exavier Brodie, Angel Burke, Larz Lambert, Meleena Jacob, Donovan Drago, my boyfriend in both lives now, Jonathan Bancroft, have all been very close and dear to me. They have helped me learn so much and realized that even in SL, the friends are all real. Those are only a few that I can think of at this instant, but i know there are so many more that have enhanced my life. Everyone on my calling card list has attributed some humor and some wisdom that has made me all the better SL citizen.

2 of the closest and best friends to this day....Cyrus and Juro. I remember the first day I was flying around and I ran into Cy and he was working on some evil reindeer for a client and he stopped me and we started to talk. He is such an awesome person. He also gave me my first wings to fly faster. And then from there we met Juro who is also a blessing to me. I love them both dearly.

Would have to be Evon Lament. She decided I needed to go shopping for new clothes. (Something she still hasn't gotten over - guess she thinks my swim in the ocean every day isn't good enough to clean my clothes and thinks I need to change them everyday.)
Anyway, we went shopping at Fey Brightwillow's store. I purchased a very nice suit and Evon was explaining to me how to put it on..told me to drag it from my inventory. Well, I immediately had a very nice looking box on my head. Evon then tried to explain that no...there were several things I needed to do..needed to change my clothes(I thought she meant I had to take off my clothes) ....but before she could tell me that I had to place the box on the ground and drag the clothes to my inventory first.....There I was standing buck naked with a very nice looking box attached to my head in the middle of Fey's store. The worst part was she was laughing so hard...she wouldn't tell me how to get dressed. To this day, I don't think I am allowed back at Fey's store. You would think that would have cured Evon from wanting me to go shopping. ![]() Several others have helped or inspired me in sl. Those include Drift Monde who is to blame for my texture addiction, Candie Apple for her knowledge of plant making and willingness to share that knowledge, Siggy Romulus for the great contributions to sl that a newbie could afford and the willingness to share, Magnum Serpentine for just being Mag, Az for his great builds and inspiration to others to excel, and Baccara Rhoades for her oustanding contributions to sl. |

OMG! David, I think this means you're a few hours younger than me.
*And* it means I met Alana a few hours before you. Darn, I must've missed my chance to beat you to her. ![]() Some truly wonderful stories here!! There are so many eagerly helpful folks in SL! I joined SL on New Years eve and there was no one at the Welcome Area. I was clueless, but eventually got the flying part down. I did run across one girl, working on her avatar, and she gave me some items (wish I could remember her name) and seemed very nice, but logged off and left my alone in my small corner of the world. For the first week, I pretty much bluffed it, learning as I went and exploring. I talked to a few folks here and there, but for the most part learned lessons the hard way. Then I ran across the old Elite (possibly the first versions?), and recieved help and kindness from Felicia Feaver, who showed me about attaching items, clothing, how to reset scripts, etc. I believe Germaine, Tanya and few others also gave me some much needed advise and help during those early days. The I spotted a few folks on a rooftop and landed in time to meet Myradyl Muse and she showed me such kindness, and showed me her home, which I was so shy about entering, thinking I would make some social blunder and peek into the wrong closet or break something. I was amazed. Then I ran across Alana Monde, Angel Coral and Higbee Protagonist and truly began my SL journey... _____________________

Hmmhmm. The three who helped me out when I got here were also dear friends before SL. n.n
Cienna Rand - Whom tried dragging me into SL several months back, but I was still deep into my EQ and FFXI addictions back then. ![]() Broken Prototype - Who did finally rope me in, in more ways than one. Inspired me to make a bat avatar and now we make quite a cute bat couple. n.n Belaya Statosky - Dear, dear friend whom I love to talk with: something I must do more. Funder of my first shopping spree! I must have given Torrid Midnight a fortune that night. ![]() edit! I totally forgot about Arito Cotton, who endured my initial questions about building and helped me greatly. Ari rocks. n.n _____________________

Hmmmm.
Scratches head and thinks very hard. I seem to remember stumbling upon Madame Thespian Underhill's home my first day. She was home, I wandered in and asked her several very noobish questions. She was very kind and patient and took the time out to answer all of my Q's. Later that day I happened across Shadow Weaver's rather large, complex and beautiful castle in Immaculate, he answered several texturing and building Q's for me and extended an open ended invitation to seek him out any time I had more Q's. The next day Ramon Kothari showed me how to link prims. He also let me come and play the fly on the wall, watching him build some of the best looking vehicles I have seen in SL. A big thank you to all three of you! Shortly after that, Jeff Linden approached me. He was very nice and started to ask me Q's pertaining to my thoughts on SL, what my dreams were in SL, especially about what I was going to build. I was taken aback that he stopped me, a 2 day old newbie, to ask my opinion on Second Life. By this point I was already in love with SL, and had quit both There & TSO, knowing that I had finally found an online home, and Jeff's kindness served to reaffirm that my decision to become a resident of SL was the right one! _____________________

Hey Bangme, great crew I think too!
The first to help me was Art Dillon, I wandered around for a few days alone trying to make sense of it all, my inventory was bare (quite unlike now, ugh) Art gave me some glowing red eye beams, a pair of really cool wings and some other stuff, I would have canceled my account if it wasnt for Art, the objects he gave me inspired me to make some stuff, and to this day I still hand out a lot of freebies. I remember the first event for Phobos Lounge in Diemos (before we moved to Riiki) and at the time Art and I kind of had a falling out, but he still showed up and we chatted and stuff, and realized our differences were kinda silly, we still say hi and hang out on occasion.... If it wasnt for Art there would be no Phobos Design, my animations wouldnt be here either! Everyone send Art an IM and tell him "Way to go Ferran stayed in SL" =P |

Ferran dragged me kicking and screaming into SL two days after she started. Needless to say she has been my number one source for information, cool stuff, mayhem, and general naughtiness.
A note of thanks to Xerahn VonLenard who was one of the first people I met. He gave me a cool pair of sunglasses, my first gift, and teased with me about my first clothing design: evil Catholic school girl. Thanks to Marilyn Murphy too for giving me excellent advice on starting the transformation of my avatar from insect girl. She had lots of excellent advice on designing a proportional and attractive Av. Many others since then. This has been an amazing place for developing friendships. Surreal |

I really can't remeber who I met first....
I do remeber that I had my first building class by Sio though.... so blame her... its all her fault ![]() and I think the second one I went to was Cailyn....so her fault too ![]() One think I do remeber...is the incredible help and friendliness of mentors and instructors and the support I got from all sides when this newb started building his first Mall. (don't remind me - had fun times though). Exactly that pioneer feeling is something I sometimes miss and I still try to uphold a bit.... ok, yeah so I don't make money cuz I give too much stuff away..... but I doubt that many of us would have actually stuck around if we hadn't had that and I want ot really thank all of you for your support! _____________________
