I just heard a far fetched theory from someone in SL,that it might be an attachment she wears,that was given to her that transmits the IM messages

There is no known way for LSL (i.e. a scripted attachment) to interact with IM besides simply sending a message, which does not even appear as a normal IM. It cannot recieve IM's. I would highly doubt that there is a bug or hack in the actual SL Client/Server to allow someone to gain access to other's IMs. (IM should be send via the server, and the server should not ship the data to any clients besides the recipients.) While it is possible to infest someone with keylogger software via email, I personally agree that the most likely thing is that someone is messing with your head. I would just walk away from the situation entirely.

My money is whoever broke into her account is the same person who has the ability to see what she is saying -

And she probably gave him as her trusted BF her password.

The more and more you talk on all this, the more it sounds like its one twisted person who is double boxing this and both "people" are one player who is playing a game on you.

That incident had 'key logger' jumping out at me.

This poster made the point that the bf knew what he had said in im over and above knowing wht the friend said. That would not be the case with a 'key logger", correct?

Well for a key logger to be the explanation, it would have to reside on the PC of the OP of course. So yeh, if the bf knows what the OP said in IM, a key logger is not likely. I would be inclined to look more to the BF and GF for an explanation than any software.

Well, key logger software would not necessarily show up as a virus... for that matter, in the case of an actual virus, AV software can only find viruses that are in its database... so it wouldn't surprise me to much to discover that it didn't recognize the keylogger, IF in fact that is what's going on here.

OK so independent of the technical "how is this possible" question, let me just see if I get the plot:

You meet girl. She already knows guy. Guy knows she talks to you somehow, gets mad. She's freaked out, you're freaked out.

However, how did this part happen?

She still talks to this guy after all this? What, he's her inworld boyfriend and she's been busted and doesn't want to talk to you?

Maybe I'm just confused but I don't understand to begin with how you became involved with these two and whatever their situation is. I'm even more confused by why she would be afraid of anything this guy would think or do if you messaged her.

So I admit, it's possible I don't get it. My gut reaction would be to back away from the DRAHMA of it all and run. I smell some manipulation and nonsense with or without a technical assist, lol. They could be a real life couple, he could be on the phone, they could be the same person, she could have spyware... he sounds like a possessive boyfriend to me. I wouldnt' spend any more time worrying about how this happened. You're unlikely to find out the actual truth if it's been a long time and you don't know by now.

Yeah i thought it might of been an attachment,but there is no way for an attachment to do that.I am almost convinced she was just copying and pasting,and lieing to me.

Yet,"its a little trick of mine"still throws me,makes me think it might of been what was suggested a keylogger,whatever that is.I've known this girl for quite awhile and she does seem like a drama queen.

I can't IM her in game,cause she is afraid he will see it,but i am willing to bet she just doesn't want me IM'ing her(doesn't seem likely though)

I know for a fact that some girls are immature enough to just willingly get into such situations on purpose, to make BF jealous and see what happens then.

You should send her an IM anyway, put something really incriminating (but false) in it just to see what happens.

But then there's the chance this guy is reading this forum post and would know what you're doing...

Few things to consider here...

A. they could be capturing IP transmission IE like a wire tap.

B. they could be on voice with her

C. Your being set up and its the same girl but uses the guy as an alt to attempt to gain control over you by tag teaming you.

D. They as others have mentioned have the Im set to go to email.

So many variables that are undefined here. Mainly on her end versus your end.

Remember, to truly know someones charature is to know thier face and an avatar doesnt count in that regard.

No offense, Leto , but I wanted to add some other possibilities. Leto is playing us all and none of this ever happened, but makes for a fun forum thread for him. Or, Leto is has multiple personalities, each with an alt, and he is being toyed with by himself , who knows every part of the conversations.

Either way, just run for the hills. Get youself an SL escort and have some fun without these jokers.

Another option no one has mentioned. Leto is actually the jelous BF and is trying to get us to sujest ways he can use to read his GFs messages...

Ok, I've seen this happen before, it's an act. A guy and a "girl" (not really sure if it's really a girl or a guy in on the act) go around, the girl befriends people, being all nice and cuddly. Suddenly, the guy shows up, being an asshat, saying things he couldn't possibly know unless she told him or he's hacking. It's a game they play, their whole goal in life is to stir up drama, in which they are center stage.

I THINK you've been a victim of this activity.
