From: blaze Spinnaker Well, what about the free open source software that Francis Chung built that is getting sold along with these tinies? Isn't that hard work that is getting exploited? I swear man. See a cute teddy bear virtual bunny and all rational thought completely goes out the virtual window. I haven't examined them, but isn't it minutely possible that the fee being paid is NOT for the script but for the animations and the prims and the textures?

Or he could go look up what he's talking about.. Depending on the licence agreement resale is indeed possible.. For instance one of the more popular open source agreements you can indeed sell a product, so long as you provide the modifications to the source code (on request I beleive). I'll have a look at what licence the overrider is under when I get back online.. Siggy.

From: blaze Spinnaker Well, what about the free open source software that Francis Chung built that is getting sold along with these tinies? Isn't that hard work that is getting exploited? I actually use Fran's overrider. From what I've read, we are allowed to use the script in items we sell. The script is being used as it was intended. What I'm objecting to is intentionally breaking an item and then asking the creator to replace it. How is it different from pulling out all the scripts in a vehicle and then demand a new one? I tinker around myself, but if I break an uncopyable item I don't ask the creator for a new one. I take it as the consequences of modifying uncopyable items. To demand replacements for items I intentionally ripped apart is a bit unethical to me. From: blaze Spinnaker I swear man. See a cute teddy bear virtual bunny and all rational thought completely goes out the virtual window. So when you can't make a good point, you just decide to blow people off as googly tiny-groupies? Personally, I'm am thinking rationally just not by your terms. You see it one way, I see it the other. There's no need for such dismissive tripe. ^

couple of mentions

I make my own tiny AVs and items. I have a tiny version of LUKE's lightsaber for example that is great for any tiny AV. You can see it in world (do a find for f'd up or IM me) or on SLexchange.com. The only problem with the critters version of tiny AVs is they have the hands backwards for some odd reason. My own tiny avs do not use an AO. WOrk just fine with the default animations but I don't think Francis has any problems with people using the AO for that sort of thing as long as the script headers are not changed and claimed as their own work or something.

Teenie Tinys - agents of the Trilaterals and Bilderbergers!!
07-07-2005 22:22
I've figured it out, the Teenie Tinys have nothing to do with being cute! It's all a Feted plot to make the 512 m^2 plots useful again! And, and, and it's tied into the new sim-size-only auctions!! It was all revealed to me in a flash of light when I opened my McHappyMeal just now...
Write your Congresscritter! Alert the Kiwanis, Rotarians, and Shriners!! Oh for the love of all that is sacred, stop them before they bankrupt the land barons and send the Linden economy into a tailspin!!!
What's that? Oh, did I forget my meds again...? <shuffles off>

Gulliver's Travel Theme
07-07-2005 23:15
From: Pathfinder Linden I've caught the teeny tiny bug and just acquired a new avatar. If you see a little black bunny with yellow eyes running around, well...that's me. (as if my current mage avatar wasn't tiny enough!) I wonder who will be the first Residents to create a "Gulliver's Travels" themed area? I want to be a Teen Tiny and I want to offer my land for use to create a teeny tiny world. I have 1024 m2, any one interested in helping me? IM me in SL and we'll get started

If anyone knows of any teeny tiny themed areas being set up in SL, please let me know. I'd like to compile a list of such places.
I think this is a fascinating phenomenon that seems to be spreading in popularity. And best of all, Residents with skills in manipulating small prims will have a totally new outlet for their creativity!
