I used to be an avid user of Furcadia back in the 90s, when it was new... I loved the fact that you could BUILD and SCRIPT stuff, and also CUSTOMIZE your AVATAR Sounds familiar, eh? They also had vampire cliques and a whole lot of cybering / yiffing going on Now... 10 years later, furcadia still has the same crappy isometric graphics it had on my 486... zero evolution. THOSE PEOPLE NEED TO BE SAVED! Go over to www.furcadia.com, download their stuff - it's free. You get L$2000 for every person you refer to SL, and a warm fuzzy feeling of bringing someone into the 21st century. What say you?

That would be cool, plus these people would not complain that they have to buy their AV ; they are already used to buying extras like wings, dragon form, griphon form, makes-you-look-cool form on Furc.
On the other hand, Furc is so full of bars.. I hope they wouldn't rebuild them on SL.

SL has 90000 bars as it is, 500 more won't be noticed. Be sure to mention that unless people are willing to put a lotta work and effort into it, they'll probably not see much in the way of RP.

Good heavens- I had hunt high and low for a screenshot. When I found one, I found out why.

There are tonnes of communities we could do something similar to this.

*ponders...* Spent years in FurryMUCK...they didn't even have graphics at all. Totally text based. (remember boys and girls, raw telnet is fun ) I wonder what it would take to drag THAT bunch into the 21st Century. @link me=Second Life @doing me=Vastly Amused :waves @tel me=home

Some of us are still in FurryMUCK SL hasn't been terribly well recieved there, actually. It's actually started to get kind of a bad reputation, largely because of some pics posted to VCL I think.

Heh, I haven't been on Furcadia in forever. I used to be a regular user, but then stopped a few years back when I was beta testing TSO. I've been back once or twice, but not within the past few months.

From: blaze Spinnaker There are tonnes of communities we could do something similar to this. And should. It'd be nice to have more art folks in Second Life, for their artistic talents, and more 3D folks working the scripting side of the world. Places like art and source code boards are more ripe for being tapped. That said, threads like this make it harder and harder to deny what goes on in Second Life. I keep trying to pretend otherwise.

I'm sad to hear people there aren't enthused about SL. Can you give us a bit more detail on what it is about SL they're not liking? I certainly can't see anyone on FurryMUCK objecting to naughty sexy pics.

My guess is this link which I got from googling vcl "Second Life", which actually seems rather tame comapred to some of the romps I've bee^H^H^H^H^H heard about, but as to the particular incident, I dunno.

Agreed, it is. Unfortunatly, I think it's given a lot of the tamer furs there the idea that SL is basicly a 3D version of Tapestries (A FurryMUCK-like MUCK that was much more sexually charged than standard FurryMUCK)... Something that SL is kinda getting a reputation for anyways as of late, furry or no.

Perhaps we should skip FurryMUCK and try recruiting in Tapestries. I was actually much more active on Taps than Furry, as I dropped Furry back in the bad old lag days.

And, for the non-furs out there, welcome to a Furry Politics and pseudo-nationality

There are furry areas in SL that are dongless.
One size does not fit all.
(I'm talking about areas in SL, there. Not dongs.)

(I'm talking about areas in SL, there. Not dongs.) I agree, but sometimes it's time to convince outsiders of that.

a few pictures of furry sex gave SL a bad rep on FurryMUCK? i dunno what it's like now but i played on FurryMUCK in college about 10 years ago and erotic (very very erotic) truth or dare was as big as Tringo is in SL now. maybe i only saw the bad side of town but it was sex city. but now i'm a total fursecutor so let them think we're evil perverts and stay away.

I frequent Taps as well as SL. And every time I mention SL when I'm on Taps, I get moans and groans from people. Dunno what the big stigma is, as I have a blast in both places.

Sorry if I hijack this post but I am wondering WHERE all the furries are in SL? I have been to the forest several times but I only saw maybe 10 people (overall!) and trying to get into a conversation with those was not very easy (maybe because they didn't know me and were shy ). So are there some secret underground furry gathering places? Dalea
