Yes or No? Is that good or bad?

Yes. But I just told you that. And it's bad. Obviously.

In so much that I've never played TSO, could you give us some comparitive criteria upon which to make a judgement?

In so much that I've never played TSO, could you give us some comparitive criteria upon which to make a judgement? Turning into, no. Some culture shock? Yes. I had a new user ask me about "my guy," by which I eventually realized they meant *me*, as in my avatar. I think some people deeply don't get it; I think we should all try to spend some time in the welcome area and show these people the ropes. |

I still don't have to green (bathroom, sleep, etc..) so no...I have to do that in RL don't want to have to do that in a game.

Please send a memo out when it becomes TSO so I can cancel my account.
Last I heard TSO didn't have custom content. Or players. _____________________

Muahahaha - I converted a bunch of my Sims (pc version) textures to TGA for SL importation. So, Yup! Blame me. I am the evil Maxis interloper.

Well bring 'em on, meu homem considerĂ¡vel. ![]() You have some kinda fetish for fat men? I'll show you my boobies any time, but I don't think they would be appropriate for the forums, and under the new ban-happy linden attitude, I'm afraid of "skirting the line" with anything "creative" like that ![]() _____________________

I've never played There or TSO.... my last MMOG before SL was Everquest, so I have little frame of reference.
But - if 'Barbie & Ken's playhouse' is a good analogy, I think I understand what you're getting at ![]() So, a question... Say the statement is accurate.... SL used to be a 'techi wiki/artists' kinda place, and now its becoming more of a 'Barbie & Ken playhouse'... Is it theoretically possible to satisfy both simultaneously? - I mean - a SecondLife that is friendly to both those who prefer a Tech/Artistic experience, and those who want to play Barbie and Ken? Or are they mutually exclusive? Thoughts? ![]() _____________________

Or are they mutually exclusive? Thoughts? ![]() I absolutely think there is room for both constituencies. They may not always peaceably co-exist, but that only indicates the need to promote greater tolerance within our virtual landscape. Oh, and Eggy -- Produce the pics and let me be the judge. PM attachments are a beautiful thing. ![]() _____________________

I think its simply more new players in SL. Its much easier to notice Ken and Barbie than it is to notice intraverted Ed the techi.

Well, zoning could do it. Say you name a continent FIC land, and grant the users the power to eject anyone who is deemed insufficiently feted
![]() Then you zone something "residential" and let the TSO people ban any kewl scripterati who lags the crap out of the sim with crazy scripted physical objects... Any type of zoning, IMHO, should be entirely voluntary. Bring new sims up marked "zoned" and pop up a charter that people must click through and agree to abide by, before purchasing land. Make it clear on the map that this area is for medieval builds and that area is for futuristic cyberpunk crap. Kinda like the telehub area of influence or whatever its called. _____________________

Well considering SL is a MMPOG for some, for others its a MMPORPG for others...
and yet again its just a RPG for some. Notice the last initial in all of those is G..for GAME. Its all in what you make it. The same as TSO. Some wanted to play like Barbie and Ken, some wanted to play the Mafia GF, some wanted to be the top Pizza King. SL, by far, beats TSO for the creative content, not to mention the graphics. edited to say..no offense, but I am sooo not for the zoning idea. If I wanted to play TSO, I would play it. |

I've never played There or TSO.... my last MMOG before SL was Everquest, so I have little frame of reference. Same here. My days in both There and TSO totalled somewhere around 3 days. Is it theoretically possible to satisfy both simultaneously? - I mean - a SecondLife that is friendly to both those who prefer a Tech/Artistic experience, and those who want to play Barbie and Ken? Or are they mutually exclusive? Thoughts? I don't know why they would be mutually exclusive. I spend a great deal of my time in SL learning how to create things. I plan to produce my own clothing line and poses eventually, and now I've started a new project helping a friend build an art gallery. But I'm also a social creature. I have my favorite clubs, I love to dance, flirt, chat and shop for new clothing -- and wear it. I don't see why one aspect of my enjoyment has to be sacrificed for the other side. Wider appeal actually means better financial health for LL, which means better services to us and longevity for the world. It also means a larger market for the products the tech/artists produce. How could it be anything but win/win? _____________________

This poor pony. I wish people would stop beating it.
SL is what you make of it. If you dont like people who are playing house, guess what? You never have to seem them or be bothered with them. Thats what is awesome about SL, there is no forced interaction, you can do as you please. Stop bitching, and stop pretending you are special. This topic comes up in come lame form or another every week. It is stupid, elitist and has no point. _____________________

In TSO, if you want to build a house, you had to make sure you had a friend/alt/whatever come and "social" you up every half hour. That sucked. I never understood the logic of that. They said it wasn't a social game, but then made it so you HAD to be social. |

I'm not sure I understand the conflict. How does people playing Barbie & Ken interfere with Tekki Wiki/Artists? Or is the problem that many who used to be Tekki Wiki/Artists have started being Ken & Barbie and given up being tekki and artsy?
