From: Michael Seraph At least that's what it says now, before Alberto Gonzales does a reinterpretation. this is going to go right over his head he doesn't get it yet it is much better to have big brother watch out for us than for us to have to watch out for ourselves, after all

From: Kendra Bancroft Reagan wasn't my favorite American President. But at least he was an American President.
Bush is a Dictator (or fastly pushing towards being one)
Dubya and Reagan (or Bush #1 for that matter) are world's apart. Dubya has "jokingly" expressed his desire to be a dictator on at least 3 occasions. http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/2002/10/29_Dictator.html

I think Billy's point is, if the Democrats ONLY platform is 'we hate dubya', then the Republicans will win for having a 'real' platform.

-Ghoti Bush's platform is: Big Brother Protection (from "terrorists" Lower Taxes (on the wealthy) Legislating Morality (Christian Extremist and Paternal Authority) Culture of Life (abortion, Iraq War, Death Penalty) Destroying the Environoment (Kyoto, Clean Air Act, Save Our Forest Act) Making His Cronies Richer Please let me know if I ommitted any of the Current "real" RINO* platform i know you disclaimed this as Billy's point. I am curious to see if Billy is educated enough in his beliefs about Bush and the neocon platform that he can fill me in on anything I missed (and we all know "no child left behind" is certainly nothing to brag about) What has bush accomplished? What is he trying to do? I wonder if Billy is even aware of THIS and his opinion of the plans laid out. To paraphrase something I heard once from a source I don't recall: "before, corporations lobbied the government; not, the corporations ARE the government..." and this quote isn't just for "republicans" *RINO = republicans in name only

However, drawing a parallel from Palestine and Hamas, the American people could eventually become so dis-enfranchised by the GOP that they just elect the opposition party in protest. Given that there is so much polarity in the US, though, I do agree that the Donkeys should focus on building their own version of the GOP's contract with America. Without leadership and vision, we aren't really solving any problems by just electing the opposition party.

Q. When are we (the people with IQ's of say 120+) going to stand up and stop letting the idiots run this place? A. Sigh. It's just so much easier to move to Canada.

From: Joy Honey But Canada just shifted to the right... But they are a minority government, so they'll have to be moderate in their policies if they want any support. Give them two years of that, then they'll get a majority and can turn into a GWB clone for the next four.

Wouldn't work in Canada, they have a real education system. They know that Iraq didn't attack the US on 9/11, they know that cutting taxes and increasing spending isn't fiscal conservatism, and they know that just because somebody says he believes in Jesus doesn't mean he'd make a good elected official. Maybe if the Conservatives in Canada gut the educational system and start introducing nonsense like "Intelligent" Design theory and worrying about prayer in school instead of school funding, after a decade or two Canada can sink to the ignorance level of the USA.

Take it outside!
01-27-2006 10:08
I am so SICK or seeing political threads, then looking outside of my house and in all directions are those signs. I play SL to get away from this political crap. Why cant you post it on a political Blog or BBS? Calling each other names is not going to convert anyone to your cause and it makes for a hostile enviroment as well. You loose more support than you gain in the long run. No wonder so few people vote in America. Again, take it Out of SL!

I just was pointing out the shift to the right It was not my intention to imply that Canada was going to turn into USA-lite.

From: Ranma Tardis Again, take it Out of SL! Nope. Are you at all sick of people sick of threads? or who are sick of threads and still read them? or who are sick of threads, still read them and actually post in them? This is like when I listen to certain radio shows or watch America's Next Top Model and scream and rant about how stupid they all are, how awful the shows are and question what kind of assclowns watch this crap anyway. This is followed by raised eyebrows and many suggestions to "just turn it off" and "why don't we watch something else". These are, of course, absurd suggestions and I let those people know just what I think of them and make sure to take the remote with me when I get beer so they can't turn the channel (which is also why the remote ends up in the fridge).

Think the people who make these threads just like to annoy people. Can stop reading the threads, barely glance at this thread. Problem, how do I have a peaceful view from my house without restricting my view or making a box around my property and restricting access? Some American came on my property and placed a box around my Japanese Flag. I banned the jerk from my property and muted him as well!

From: Mulch Ennui i know you disclaimed this as Billy's point. Well, it's what I think Billy's point might be... but it also holds truth. Give the people something better to vote FOR rather than vilifying Dubya (he does a good enough job of that himself). IMO, the Demicans & Republocrats are just about the same. I usually vote for the candidate that closest resembles my beliefs... unfortunately, that usually means I'm 'throwing away' my vote on a Libertarian or other independant that has little hope of actually winning. That said, I think this year, and again in 2008, I will be voting for the Democrats, if for no other reason that THIS. -Ghoti

Green Day expresses it pretty well with "Holiday" From: someone "Holiday"
Say, Hey!
Hear the sound of the falling rain Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!) The shame The ones who died without a name
Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!) And bleed, the company lost the war today
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday
Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protestor has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the money's on the other side
Can I get another Amen? (Amen!) There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!) A gag, a plastic bag on a monument
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday
(Hey!) (Say, Hey!)
"The representative from California has the floor"
Sieg Heil to the president gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
This is our lives on holiday

What is your point?
I wanted to tell my side of it.
My last posting on this subject. Calling the United States a Fasist State is STUPID. If this were true most of you would already be under arrest and in a camp along with your families. Just because your political party lost is no reason for name calling! Get over it!
