I belong to the religion of "Wait and See", since no one on earth really has a clue to the afterlife, and we will all find out if there is one soon enough, and what it will be like.

I just try and lead a relatively good life, and do more good than harm.

agnostic.

which is different than atheism in that we say we dont know because the question of gods existance or lack thereof can't be answered, since there is no scientific way to do so.

atheists believe it can be answered and the answer is no.

ys, occam is kool
it doesnt change the fact that existance or lack existance of god cant be determined.
its a question that cant be answered, so i dont waste time trying to assert i know one way or teh other.
no human can.
i wont try to convince anyone tho, because i think peeps should be entitled to their beliefs, whatever they might be.
i do find it funny how passioate and evangelical some atheist are tho.
bottom line is no one can prove one way or the other
and thats the position i take, because it is the most rational to me.
others are welcome to believe as they may
they are even welcome to believe their negative assertations arent beliefs
there is a lot of comfort in believing one has the answer to an unanserable question and i wont try to take that away from any1.
itz all good.

peace.

I'm on the fence right now between Athiest and Agnostic. I was a practicing pagan for about 10 years and as I did more and more reading and became more educated about science and the world around me I have drifted away.

I would love to think that there is some guiding force or that there is something more mystical to reality than, well, reality but I'm about ready to let it go and put all my eggs into the "do everything you can to improve society and the world around you in this lifetime because after it's over you don't get a second chance and the only way you will be alive is in memory" basket.

I never wanted kids before and to this day I volunteer in organizations in RL that I think will make the world a better place but now that I'm on the verge of dropping religion all together I realize that if I want people to remember me I better become 1. rich (foundations baby!) or 2. have kids so that my values and feelings on the world will carry on and hopefully make future generations better...

Then I continue sitting here and posting messages in SL forums :^).

It's a shame you couldn't include some more mainstream religions, like Oprahism or voodoo :)

Um, you do realise scientologists are technically (ie they claim to be) Christians? And teh Church of the Subgenius was created as a direct parody of them, so the two could be considered polar opposites in many ways?
Actually, Warda...you may want to look a bit closer at what L. Ron Hubbard himself had to say about Christianity (I do believe he's on record saying that Christ was a false memory implant; here is a good link where you can not only read about it, but listen to audio of Hubbard speaking about it. Here also. There are many other places where you can read about Scientology's stance on Christianity and other religions).

So, yeah, in no way did Scientology have its roots in Christianity nor do they claim to have them. I think Scientology does, however, like to give the *impression* that they do with their symbol which resembles a cross.

I didn't know that about the Subgenius thing, though. That's pretty funny. :D

i love how people simple say 'my religeon is ....'

ive studied various religions (having various religious documentarys - attendinmg various religious events etc) and have yet to see a 'true religion'

when someone says 'i am a Christian' and goes drinking, swearing etc - they are not a christian - they are a beleiver of the formular/statis/IDEAS of that religion - they read the religion to suit them

all religions are based to interpritation - ive attended congressions/ khutba (muslim sermon)/ eagle dance (native american - deer tribe event)/ Caste (hindu teachings) and moots (various pagen religions) - even read part of the dianetics book and been to a teaching session (scientology)

even got myself apointed as a minister of the church of life (the church of all religions)

so what is my religion? all and neither of the above - my beleifs takes the parts of the above i beleive in - the parts that stand above others as 'right' in my mind

my religion is 'Kornation'

(althou i still beleive scientology is the most fictitious and downright corrupt - but that is my beleif)

I think one posting of that message was enough, baystreet. Now, it's just boring and repetitive.

"Most people, when pushed will write, Jedi."

Atheism isn't a belief system. :)

Is it a lack-of-belief system? :D

I'd love to know who the satanist are.

They're an even funnier group than the devout worshippers of god.

There are definitely a lot of people who devoutly believe that there isn't a God.
