Muslim and Hindu together? Why?
Buddhist and Shinto together? Christianity, Judaism and Islam have more in common than Islam and Hinduism, or Buddhism and Shintoism. And you forgot Baha'i, Taoism, Sikhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism and countless other lesser known religions. |

Whadaya MEAN Christians AND Mormons? Mormons ARE Christians. The real name of their church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Um, you do realise scientologists are technically (ie they claim to be) Christians? And teh Church of the Subgenius was created as a direct parody of them, so the two could be considered polar opposites in many ways?

You need to split out many (most??) of the groupings you arbitrarily placed these faiths into. I'm sure any Subgenius worth their frop would cringe at your grouping them with Scientologists. Scientologists are Pinkboys and definately do not have Slack.

I am outraged and offended by your lumping together of Pastafarianism with those heretical unbelievers who subscribe to the "so-called" Church of Pie.
There can be absolutely no relation between these two belief systems, and your sloppy decision to bundle them together into one category shows an egregious and arrogant disrespect for the followers of the one true faith. The existence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is verifiable, documented fact. We have incontrovertible evidence that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe. None of his living believers were actually around to see it, of course, but that's entirely beside the point. We have written accounts of it, so it must be true. Pieists, on the other hand, are clearly deluded individuals with an entirely warped and unhealthy world view - subscribing to ridiculous dictums such as "Eating pie is sacrilegious", ffs. The FSM would never require his beloved people to refrain from munching on delicious pasta, for he is benevolent and loves us all. Join me now, raise your pasta forks in praise: All hail the FSM, for verily He is the creator of all things, including (but not limited to) a mountain, trees, and a midgit. Observe ye, always, the Eight I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts, honour thy pirate, and and may all feel the divine touch of His noodly appendage. RAmen. |

Michael Seraph Muslim and Hindu together? Why? Buddhist and Shinto together? Baha'i, Taoism, Sikhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism and countless other lesser known religions. I did think that Judaism would have a higher count by now though. Devlin Gallant Whadaya MEAN Christians AND Mormons? Mormons ARE Christians. The real name of their church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I agree... though I know some that wouldn't. (spelling out "including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" didn't fit. ![]() Warda Kawabata Um, you do realise scientologists are technically (ie they claim to be) Christians? And teh Church of the Subgenius was created as a direct parody of them, so the two could be considered polar opposites in many ways? =) I was really tempted to include satanism under Christianity as well, but figured an 'evil' side could probably be a category of it's own.... And yes, I'm aware that Scientologists would take offense at being lumped in with anyone. but I doubt there are enough present in the forums to deserve one of the ten options all to themselves. =) (No I'm not comparing scientology to satanism!)Cliffy Palmerstone I'm agnostic. I had liked this poll better. The categorization looked ok, you could make multiple choices (so I was able to choose both buddhist and atheist), it was public, and quite a few people participated in it. Perhaps someone might like to bump it. I'd be curious to see whether the 24% that the atheists had scored still holds today, given that SL (and the SL forums) have doubled or tripled in population since then. If I had to guess, I'd say that the percentage has gone down a bit. SL is beginning to resemble RL more and more, so I see no reason why these numbers should not reflect RL numbers (24% for atheists seems quite high to me).

Another subdivision

Hmmm, I'd like to see the atheist category split into:
(1) Real atheists, unafraid to live with the consequences (ethical/epistemic etc) of their world view. (2) Woolly atheists who prefer to sneak in metaphysics via the back door to keep the universals they'd really like to hang onto. Most of us who've ticked the atheist box fall, I suspect, into (2). ![]() |

agnostic.
which is different than atheism in that we say we dont know because the question of gods existance or lack thereof can't be answered, since there is no scientific way to do so. atheists believe it can be answered and the answer is no. |

I belong to the religion of "Wait and See", since no one on earth really has a clue to the afterlife, and we will all find out if there is one soon enough, and what it will be like.
I just try and lead a relatively good life, and do more good than harm. _____________________
