Oh good grief. I think this thread has outlived it's usefulness...

You asked, I answered. Is that why you want to close the thread?

Un, no, they said it looks blue, not that it is blue. And they explained why it "looks" blue but really isn't blue at all.

Blue Sky anyone?

1 1/2 oz Canadian Mist® whisky
3/4 oz light rum
3/4 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
8 oz pineapple juice

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well and pour everything into a hurricane glass. Garnish with a slice of orange. Add an umbrella, and serve.

Do you normally post to useless threads? I don't even read them myself.

Technically, nothing has a color :P, it only looks like it does because of it's absorbition, reflective and refractive properties.

It looks blue because it IS blue

"WHY IS THE SKY BLUE?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue. "

What do you think "Sky" is. Kevn?

What you mean to say is that the "atmosphere" isn't blue.

No, the sun is never yellow. Even if it looks yellow to you.

The Sun is not yellow. This is what's called a "Red Herring".

The Sky is blue, because that blue we see is what we call sky.

If you mean the atmosphere is not blue then you are correct.

To prove the point that because something looks a certain color doesn't mean it is that color.

Actually, being a Main Sequence, class G II star, the sun is indeed yellow.
