4 canine teeth hardly make a carnivore.

But, along with knives and forks, make for omnivores.

Well it started with me wanting to eliminate excess fried foods, and then after thinking abou tit for a while and knowing what types of fat the body can and cannot breakdown made me choose plants.

There are all sorts of varying rationals. I genuinely feel better and lighter in my step. I also take multivitamins and a good dosage of B-12 and omega 3.

Well it seems to work for you then :D

I think different diets work for different people and in different ways, I don't think anyone can say "you have to do this" or "you can't do this", because it may or may not be right for you.

I was just intrested in what drew you to that particular choice of diet :)

And such exclamations like "If we werent supposed to eat meat..." is pure fallacy.

If a human doesn't eat meat, he is not healthy. Period. That means we are made to eat meat.

Now, it's possible, with work, to avoid this. Yes. You can succesfully eat a combination of vegetables and other non-meat items to provide most everything you would get from meat. However, in the wild, this would not be easily possible. There is even, I kid you not, vegetarian pet food, for vegans who cant stand to feed their pets animals either. Because one CAN avoid eating meat does not mean one is INTENDED to avoid eating meat.

So are exclamations that it's healthier not to eat meat.

Exactly how I feel Zap.

I guess another factor was when I saw this special on colonics and they said the average person dies with about 7lb's of beef still in their colon. Gross. lol.

Also, Ecoli 157H7 scares the hell out of me.

Omnivore, for the very simple reason that I really, really like meat. Especially beef. Steak. Grilled steak. Mmmmmmm!

Have you tried fried Poodles? YumMMMMmmMMMmmy..

Boiled kittens are quite nice too!!.

Oooh, what about grilled babies? MMmmmMMMmMMMMMmm. They're delicious!!

After you've had a baby burger. You'll not touch steak ever again. They're that good!!

One is not healthy if one is does not eat meat or balance one's diet with an improbable-in-nature combination of specific plants, so yes, it does.

I am a vegetarian, simply because i could never eat meat without thinking disgusting thoughts, and so i pretty much stopped altogether.

I am getting by just fine without meat, and I think the payoff is much more rewarding.

No guilty consience either ;)

My father is about 10 years older than his brother, my uncle. My uncle has been a devoted vegetarian for about 40 years now, and at a recent family gathering, my uncle looked like he just got out of a prison camp, and about 20 years older than my father, who eats everything, and has a glass of wine or two every night.
That convinced me, so I'm goin the omnivorous route. That's one reason why humanity was able to spread beyond Africa, and settle everywhere from Iceland to Micronesia. Our generalized dentition allows us to eat a variety of foods and is a genetic advantage we have over pure carnivores like the cheetah, and pure vegetarians, like manatees.

Lifelong omnivore. If cattle and pigs weren't meant to be eaten, they would have been conveniently hidden in undersea caves, like those blind, transparent fish. They pay a price for being so tasty. :D

Well actually, carnivorus creatures have a mouth full of canine teeth and herbivores have a mouth full of flat teeth... Just like humans who have only 4 canine teeth.

I said omnivore, not carnivore.

Eating meat requires no nutritional suppliment or special diet to replace nutrients. Going without meat does. Erego, by nature and genetics we were intended to eat meat, rather than go without.

edit: No guilt here over my diet either ;) Now whos bringing the steak?

I agree. I eat meat everyday and I'm lovely and healthy:

I'm vegetarian. I first became vegetarian because I did some research on water waste and discovered that agribusiness most wasted and polluted water when it raised animals for slaughter with newer land-intensive methods. I figured by going Vegetarian, I was doing my part to conserve fresh water for the next generation. And for the idiots who water their lawns when it rains, etc. ;-)

Where is your data to support this posit? Can you point me to a source that says vegetarians are unhealthy compared to meat eaters?

Good point. However, you could be making a fundamental attribution error by assuming your uncle looks gaunt and unhealthy because he is a vegetarian. For all you know he could be a meth head, or one of those vegetarians that eat junk food as a primary diet (chips, soda, candy bars, etc..).

That's very true. I was vegetarian for a couple years. I lost way too much weight, and I wasn't at all healthy. That's because I didn't know enough about nutrition to supplement my diet with vitamins or other high-protien foods. I'm sure it would be different if I tried it again now, though I'm far too addicted to meat to even try it.

As for guilt over eating habits, being an animal lover... thankfully, steak is a great comfort food. ;) And I console myself with the knowledge that were situations reversed, most animals would have no qualms about eating my flesh.
