invisible avatar

My avatar has been invisible for me (except for prim hair and shoes) for almost an hour. I have tried clearning cache and relogging before this current wait. It started after I was in world normally after update. I took my pants off and was going to put more on. Instead of coming off, they appeared to shrink to my body. right click "Appearances" showed that I had no pants even though my screen showed differently. I cleared my cache and restarted, and have been running around as invisible man with hair and shoes since. My shoes are different than the ones I had on previously also. When I attempt to detach the hair and shoes and relog, I come back as Insivible man with the hair and shoes again.

THIS SUCKS!!!!

I "just" now became visible again after repeated attempts... I had the "log in at home location" set.. I changed that to "last location" went to another sim and logged out. When i relogged I was FINALLY visible again. I decided to test it.... When I went back to my home area, and logged out, and logged back in, I was back at my FORMER location in the other sim, even though it should have logged me in at my home location. When I attempted to teleport home, I got a timeout error. After several more logging in and out attempts it "seems" that everything is working fine now, including teleporting home. I don't know if techs did something, or if changing the log in location option caused the gears to grind. Just thought I would detail it in case the info is of some use somehow.

Still some problems.. not always logging in at proper location when logging in and out ( tried 3 more tests) It is using former location. Additionally.. and the BIG ONE.. MY INVENTORY IS NOT THERE. I HAVE FOLDERS, BUT NO INVENTORY!!!!

also: map shows no avatars, find is not working, and although I can now see my money balance (could not before), cannot complete any transactions.


UPDATE: I found if I am in the sim next to my home property (my property borders two sims) My inventory will show. When I go back to my sim property.. my inventory dissapears or won't update. I cannot purchse anything from my own vendors on my land, but I can do so elsewhere. Find will not work either on my land, but will in the sim next door. It appears to be the happening to me in the Nadata Sim only now.

My Av is also invesable to me other than my primed stuff my inventory is not all there when i first logged on but i waited about 10 min. then it was all there but my AV still wont show i have restarted 6 times i am giveing up on it tonight but i really hope it will work tomrrow

I don't know if it made a difference, but I uninstalled SL and reinstalled from scratch. My invisible avi only lasts for less than a minute now, but I originally reinstalled because of initial login problems.

*sigh* i dont really want to reinstall the game but it looks as if i have no choice :/

Reinstalling doesn't seem to help here.

It may be region-specific.

Just wanted to let you guys know... I've seen several cases of this today. I'm not sure exactly what causes it but the gridmonkey has been busy solving some of these problems.

Please let a Linden Liaison know from the HELP menu ---> LIVE HELP or IM one directly.

Aggregating all these cases will help.

I got the same problems,av invisible, i see some kind of grid in the water, afther it finally rezzes, the water color doesnt change back, it stayes grey

Mine had to do with my region..I figured it out after going to another sim (logging into it after an exit). They restarted the SIM and everything worked fine!!

I just tryed that and still my AV wont load excpet for her hair and shoes i even waited 30min in two differnt sims

Same problem here. Tried several things:

1. Clear Cache, relog... still invisible at login. Noted that AV suddenly appears after the entire environment rezzes, particularly the Terrrain Textures.

2. TP's to different region, relog... still inviisible.

3. TP to brand new sim.... -0- Objects on sim. Clear Cache and relog. Still invisible, but AV becomes visible much more quickly. Perhaps due to essentially nothing but terrain to rez and cache?

4. Log out of SL and then MANUALLY trash contents of Cache folder. Relogged and, guess what? AV FULLY visible and clothed AV at login.

I have to assume there is a glitch/bug with the data stream and/or communications changes that were implemented with 1.9. Something is getting into the Client Cache that causes the AV to be invisible at login. BUT, is cleared when you manually trash the Cache files.

Interesting. Hope the Bug Hunters find it and fix it soon.

yes i hope they do to it can get really annoying after awhile but i know there doing there best so i am not going to complan

I've also been invisible all day, and have logged and relogged several times in several different places. So it is definitely not a Region specific problem. Have tried most things suggested in the previous posts, to no avail.
Another problem I am having is not being able to add items to prim contents, namely my SLX box. I rezzed a basic cube to test if it could have been the SLX box playing up, but I couldn't fill it either. Just curious if anyone else is having this second problem too.

For each person experiencing this: when your avatar is invisible and you logon, do you see this message?

Yes Torley, I get that msg. but nothing more than my prims (hair and jewellery, I don't wear shoes) are or have been visible all day. Thankyou for asking Logged off for dinner, I will try again later.

Good to know--looks like we may have a pattern. It seems like more Resis have been affected by this very thing but didn't report that message upon logging in! It's certainly a piece of the puzzle.

Please keep posting with any new info, and I will do the same of course.

I did. But the invisibility only happened to me once anyway, the first time I started the new release.
(but I did show up after a while)

Thanks. So far what I'm hearing are a real mixed bag of experiences: some Resis keep logging in and get the message and have persistently remained invisible, while others see it once like you, and then load properly.

I've seen it several times myself but I haven't remained invisible more than several minutes.

Still going to follow this closely, as clearly it is a concern.

Heheh.. used to be that I left my hair behind and waited for it to catch up, now its my body that is lagging behind

Yes, same problem here, same message on log in and invisible av for a few minutes. also everything else around is grey for a very long time. Tp is the same. Upon arrival at destination, my av is again invisible for a few minutes.. only hair and shoes can be seen.
is also affecting a few other people I know too.

If anyone else is affected by this--please post here with your personal experiences and details. I am keeping track of all names in this thread.

I also get that message, somethimes my av rezzes quick, last log in the av took 5 minutes to rez, at one point, i got complete invisible, even the att.ments were gone.
It looks like the loading got revesed, first the textures, than the av.

If you can't see your avatar, or hear people talking but you don't see them, try switching from one group to another. Yes, it sounds silly but ... as many things in SL things that seem unrelated to each other actually effect each other somehow. For me, this always solved the invisibility problem.

Silly but true in some case! That's one of my oddball faves--it also activates my particle watermelon splasher locally. If others change their active group, they can see the watermelons too.

Has doing this made a difference for anyone with this problem?

This is happening to me every time I login and it takes around 1-2 minutes for my avatar to show (apart from attachments, which show straight away).
