Sending an email directly to the lindens would be a better way of "bitching" than airing your grievances on a public forum. They do read their email, you know.

What do you want me to do? Wave my feted inner core elite wand around and fix your issues?

support@lindenlab.com
cory@lindenlab.com
philip@lindenlab.com

Enjoy.

LF

I didn't ask Lordfly or anyone else to do anything to help me in any way, and I don't expect anyone to.

I have spoken to Phil about the problem of ghosting after he appeared in the Morris sandbox one day. No solution was obtained, although the lack of any packet loss problems along the way or in my network was confirmed.

I have filed hundreds of bug reports, and have received non-automated responses three times. No useful results were obtained.

I am responding to this thread in this public forum because someone else who shares my aggravation started this thread in this forum in a foulmouthed way that expressed my feelings quite well. Respondents were nay-saying him not only for his manner of expression but also for the accuracy of his perceptions and the validity of his emotions. I wanted to let Bran know I think my experience matches his pretty well. Sending email to the Linden staff would not accomplish that goal at all.

I don't understand what you mean. The original poster expressed extreme unhappiness with some aspects of the program's performance. People responded saying his problems aren't real, that his emotional response is invalid. I wanted to express my solidarity with the thread starter in this respect, to let him know that he is not alone. My response is : "I find the program's performance defective, as you do, it also makes me very angry, angry to a degree which is aptly expressed in expletives." I don't understand what you have a question about.

As for the use of foul language in the forums, it goes on all the time, with little apparent concern, so long as it is part of a personal attack on another customer. There is a convenient method of flagging posts which ones finds problematic, a little icon with an exclamation mark on the left side of the screen. This same icon can be used to request that a thread be moved to a more appropriate forum .

The purpose of these forums is, as stated in the forum guidelines, " to promote discussion and education about Second Life. " If these discussions are only supposed to include positive comments about the program's performance then a rewriting of the guidlines to make that clear would be in order.

As a practical matter, those who are disturbed by reading bad things about the program would be well advised to skip threads with titles like the one this thread has.

When bug reports come into LL, they are reviewed and new bugs are added to the list for the development team and QA. To see the most common known bugs that we're working on, you can look at the bug queue.

We don't send auto-responses to bug reports, so you won't necessarily get an acknowledgement when you file a report. However, if you have a specific question about a bug, its position in the queue, or the status of fixing it, please send your question to uncle.linden@lindenlab.com.

Expression of this sort is offensive. Not to mention unproductive. Punch a pillow it helps more.

People responded saying his problems aren't real

The problem he quoted isn't a problem.

From: someone
, that his emotional response is invalid

valid definition.
#1 Well grounded; just: a valid objection.
#2 Producing the desired results; efficacious.
It could fit #1, definately not #2. #1 is debatable because swearing at them is not justified. Satisfying maybe.

You answered my question above :). you think it's valid. I don't happen to.

unbelievable. everyone else is jumping off the bridge. See ya at the bottom. It does go on all the time. As they say, change starts with one person, but apparently not with you. or the original thread starter.

oh yes, the only two options are offensive flaming, or blind support. Very logical.

so... you don't want discussion?

Auto Responses to Bug Reports

We don't send auto-responses to bug reports, ...

The reason I think I get auto-responses to bug reports is that every bug report I file causes an email to arrive with headers as follows:

From: Bug Report via RT <bugs@secondlife.com>
Subject: [rt.lindenlab.com #XXXX] AutoReply: Bug: ghosting

" The problem he quoted isn't a problem."

The way the editor changes the rotations from what one enters to an equivalent but different set of numbers makes it hard for me to rotate things conveniently. I consider it a problem.

The emotion I am saying is valid is extreme unhappiness and anger with the way the program works. I experience this aggravation in response to a number of the programs bugs and design choices.

No need for anyone to reply to this post cause I quit.
