From: Vlad Bjornson Same crazy-low frame rates for me. Although, It doesn't really matter what I do. The poor performance kind of comes in waves - even if I just stand in one spot. I tried deleting all of my torii with animated textures - but it didn't seem to help. Snapshot of my rendering console: http://www.wallofgray.com/pics/ouch.jpgjust for reference: I am running an Athlon 2.2Ghz with a Geforce FX5500 and 1.5 Gig of RAM. I usually get about 15 to 20 fps with my current graphics settings. today it is anywhere from .5 to 13 - mostly like 4 or 5. Yes mine is identical. PS why cant we attach images here?

Im running a top of the line AMD 64 box with Nvidia gfx. I've been running SL at 1920x1200 with most bells and whistles on, and it looks great.
I log in today and I can hardly move around my sims. It's like the graphics engine is now using software rendering instead of my video card.
Fix this quick please!! =(

Another observation - when I set my object details to minimum, it lags less/for shorter time. So I suspect it can be a LOD engine issue.

Round of applause to Linden Labs, Finally in the 21st century I can have my very own VirtualTech LindenLabs Slideshow... Complete with all my favourite av's... Indeed, something went wrong then. ANY game that causes my pc to give me 0.8fps... is one that isnt worth playing.. fair enough If I had a 486 but I forked out for a XFX 6600gt and a 2.8ghz Celly D... and Im still getting 0.8fps...just incredible The average fps has been gradually dipping lower and lower and lower over each update, and wait for it, LL's response will be... Make sure you close all other running applications... Firewall..ummm Anti-Virus , oh wait do you think our update could be bolloxed? nahhhh Right, now i've finished being sinister Do you think we could please have some real reseach going into game updates than just these dismal excuses *rant over

I don't seem to have any issues with llTargetOmega stuff, but will test more later. On the plus side, I'm getting some quite impressive framerates the times it's not bad.
Oh, and they disabled attaching images everywhere but classifieds and gallery because the forums were starting to break.

Is this looking to be Nvidia specific? I've not talked to anyone with an ATI card who has these issues.

I've got it here too. Its really crippling. It seems to be related to any textures moving with llSetTextureAnim - try disabling them for now!

I"m usually not too worried about little hiccups after an update, but this seems different - something more than just the 'settling down' period. I wouldn't be as worried if I didn't have an event planned for tonight. Guess I'll just chill for a bit... http://www.wallofgray.com/pics/meditate.jpg

It's definitely not Nvidia specific... I have a radeon 9600 as quoted earlier in the thread somewhere.
... the framerate is great up here in our sky workshop though! :/

Anyone think this might be related to my problem? Login of SL stops at Connection to region. Ive tried loading different regions up via the secondlife:// interface. I have a GeForce 6600 GT (nVIDIA related) and when i start the login it just stalls with progress bar blinking and stating "connecting to region". Odd bit tho is that SL is hogging just about all CPU i have. I have a Pentium 2 2.8GHz with 1 gig ram and i'm running windowed on dual screens. Yesterday before update i had no trouble with getting on SL, today i find myself frustrated with tufts of hair in my hands (previously attached to my skull) I'm just arrgghh right now Must get on SL .. must get daily fix .. must get ooonnnnliiinee

I have an ATI card, and I can’t even play in the new build of Second Life, like, at all. After five minutes my computer will lock up entirely, either eventually rebooting on it’s own, or forcing me to hard reboot.
I’m fairly confident what’s happening here is that the video card is being thrown in to an Infinite loop, as the last time I had this problem that was the issue. Unfortunately, that doesn’t make me any closer to fixing it.
When I first installed this video card, a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro, I had a similar problem with many games, however after updating the cards drivers as well as the chipset drivers, it was resolved and I hadn’t seen it since. Cut about a year ahead and here we are again with a similar problem, but only when I try to run Second Life.
I really hope this is something they plan on fixing, so that I can start playing once again, without having to switch out to a Nvidia card.

framerate dropped to an unplayable level with the settings i had before need to reduce viewing distance to 128, better 96 to get a playable game with my 7800gtx now... definetly a bug introduced with the new version

checked the fast timers - for me, the lag is happening here:
Idle - World Update - Geo Update - Reserve
average value not lagging: lower than 0.5 highest value i have seen there: 670
and i get those spikes pretty much every time i look in the direction of any animated texture like water, fountains, fog or steam.
it doesnt even matter if those are visible or not - a fountain behind a house will lag me down to 2 fps.
i really hope there will be a fix for this obvious bug soon.
edit: max value changed from 435 to 670 after some more observation

I called tech support and they recommended I run at a 64m Draw Distance instead of my normal 192 and that should take care of all the problems. LMAO!!!

LMAO!!! tried that as well - makes 0 difference - as soon as i see any animated texture i get a slideshow. looking past the fountain: 85+ fps looking at it (like a rotation of 30 degrees of the camera): less than 5 fps looking back straight past the fountain: 85+ fps 100% repeatable so far

From: AJ DaSilva SL always does that, it's nothing new. Not that i notice it using all that cpu, norton got dibs on most of the cycles anyhow. I did try to put the draw distance dorn to 64, still couldn't get in. Guess i'm stuck offline untill they get a hotfix out.
