What would you do if you had an Island/SIM?

From: Burke Prefect I'd rig the entire sim to reconfigure from a club, to an office park, to an evil lair, ot a giant space ship, to.... whatever.... at the flick of aswitch. Knowing me, it would be a really big switch. A.... GOD SWITCH, if you will. Mmmm... these tools exist? You can 'script' the whole Sim out ... that would be awesome. Of course I'm going to look like an idjut if it is already being done L

From: Zapoteth Zaius Hehe.. I'd try to find some non-gambling games, and see if I could hire someone to make some fairground games.. But fairgound games are as rigged as gambling? At least any RL fairgrounds I've ever been to ... Oh, hang on, now I get it ... L

Hmm walking through my sim you'd see the following:
A black hat caught in a high tree top, A flagpole rag and the wind won't stop. A fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall A dead salmon frozen in a waterfall A blue whale beached by a springtide's ebb A butterfly trapped in a spider's web A king on a throne with his eyes torn out A blind man looking for a shadow of doubt a rich man sleeping on a golden bed A skeleton choking on a crust of bread A red fox torn by a huntsmans pack A black-winged gull with a broken back
A little black spot on the sun today.... ... the same old thing as yesterday.

From: Leon Ash What do you mean with the term artisans? Ehh. . . Pretty loose actually Anyone who makes something out of sheer enjoyment. Or people who are incredibly talented. I wouldn't limit it to builds though. Photos & scripted doohickeys would also be welcome. I supposed I'd try to have it set in a pattern like beginner & intermediate level stuff on one side of the sandbox and more expertly made things on the other.

Me? I'd prolly build up an extraterestrial sim just for the hell of it. Foolish Frost beat me on the tree stakes, so it's time to start delving into some of my other ideas.

I personally see artisans as more 'practicle' and artists as more 'isoteric' Think the pattern idea is pretty good as well ... problem would be with determining level. Level is pretty subjective L

If it was free I'd create a virtual ecosystem with evolving, cell based, abstract plants and creatures. I'd work it so that aspects of the world (prim limit particularly) would form the basis of the total matter/energy of the ecosystem.
If I had to pay, and so need it to finance itself, I'd finaly create the game I've been designing and set up the sim as a good, interactive enviroment to play it in.

Do you believe you'd need a whole sim for it ... or could you do it on a little less? Because of the type of evolution I'd use there'd be problems with runaway critters if it wasn't done on an island sim. It would be possible to do it a little differently though.
What's holding me back from making the game is not having enough time to devote to it at the moment.

I'd probably spend a good month or so making custom land textures, because I've always wanted to play with those.
After that, terraforming! Weeee!
Finally, after the power rush had worn off, probably spend like 5 months making a truly gorgeous themed sim with rental housing and become a landlord so I could afford another sim where I could just mess around and make whatever I wanted.

From: Leon Ash Nice theme idea ... I like it ... shall I get the lawyers now?
L Heh. Now if I could just afford $195 a month. For now I'll just content myself with my smaller-scale ruins and my patch of forest.

From: Leon Ash That would be a massive house ... do you have a floorplan already or are you just planning on building till all the ground is covered?
What kinda house do you have in mind? Styles, materials, period etc.
L Well my long term goal is to be Queen of SL so can chop off heads of people I don;t like etc... so have to be a castle of course and a throne to match the size of my ego - giggle

Turn it into a rental sim, and get others to pay tier on it, as no way would I be able to pay $195 USD a month ever. Then sit back on my own lil 1536 and do what I normally do. And feel I was finally making something in SL

What's holding me back from making the game is not having enough time to devote to it at the moment. I very much like the idea of 'evolutionary' critters But it could seriously mess a sim up Yeah ... time, the usual problem ... we probably all struggle with! L

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but if you buy a bit of land you could still play with the custom land textures, couldn't you? I know it wouldn't be on the same scale though How much work do you think you need to do as a landlord? I'm thinking the maintenance must be horrendous, or am I missing something? Getting a little of topic here, but I'm a curious kinda person. L

I would fill the island with degrading money making things for newbies. Like the coal mine, the camping wack-a mole, newb camping sexballs, etc.
Then I would grow bored and do a big secret lair for the Carbohydrate Liberation Front, the Holy Husky Snowglobe Cabal and maybe also LoV&E.

I'd make a gathering place for the Italian community in SL, we miss one. Education material and Newbie orientation stuff. It would be mostly in my natural language, with translations of the various tutorials available around the world (if the creators allow that) about textures, building, scripting, etc. I'd host events to answer the frequently asked questions, like the nice 'Jobs in SL' event that Gwyneth hosted yesterday (in English) in Neualtenburg. Shopping area. It's a great part of the fun for many SL dwellers, so shopping definitly will have a place in my sim. Italians do love fashion and I think I'd try to stick to an high profile, inviting only topclass designers and the most promising new stars. (That would exclude myself, by the way). Club area. I'd try to hook up with real world radios, those that you can listen to in your car or home. I know a few who could be lured to enstablish a presence in-world, in particular if contacted right after the MTV show when SecondLife would have alraedy touched their "radar" - many of them look at the USA for ideas and for new trends. At the same time, it would help in-world residents listen to those radio station; there are many who don't normally listen normally to radio shows. Residendial sim. It would probably require a separate sim, or a partnership with an existing land baron. I think a national-based sim would be an ideal starting point to promote a zoned, well-organized sim where dwellers speak your own language. National holidays and events. I'd organize special events for our national holidays that do not match the international ones. I'd also make our SL-own: for example, an Italian Community Convention showing up what my fellow residents are doing here.
