That's so true Fade.

IT's a hard lesson learned by my friends but at least in the end, after some $80USD later (what he charged them to give their land back) they got it but have to rebuild everything again that was on it.

Land OWners BEWARE!!

No matter what the confirmation boxes say, if someone says they meant to sell it to their friend for L$1, any decent person would just return the land. Instead, these people are putting forward feature suggestions to make the confirmation boxes more obvious, so they can more easily justify what they are doing, so they can tell their victims "Didn't you see the bright red confirmation? Too bad". It sucks.

I'm starting to wonder if there's still a SL resident that has not heard that person's name these last few weeks...but fortunately I'm sure he made a lot more Ban lists :)

Not true. There is an inworld tutorial explaining how to sell, buy, split, joining, and managing lands. It's in your F1Help! screen. Just hit your F1 key for more details.

Ah.

What I want to see is a forced tutorial for first time land buyers. I know they should be RTFM but the swooping is just getting too much.

When I group my land, I'll have some spare tier... I'll get a cheap piece of land I'm prepared to lose, and we'll have some fun. :D

S'ok...

It's unfortunate they use the excuse, "there's a confirmation box" to their victims. Yes there's a confirmation box, but in their heads people are thinking, "yes I want to sell it, to my friend standing here". They just don't realise that it pops up instantly in land sales, and by the time you say to your friend, "here, buy it now", it can be gone. People may look around the sim, and think no one's there... they just don't realise how instantly it appears in land sales and how many are refreshing constantly.

People really need to know, always set it to sale specifically to the person you want to sell to first, and always sell for $0, because there's a safety mechanism at that price. Don't ever think, 'oh there's no one around, and we'll only be quick'. The F1 help may tell you about buying and selling land, but it doesn't tell you about how many people are prepared to screw you if you slip up, unfortunately.

I've suggested a modest delay of perhaps 45 minutes before land set for sale actually pops up in the listings. I think that that would solve a lot of problems.

I've also suggested making it an option for people to decide if they want the land to show up in the land listings at all when they set it for sale.

The problem is that most people who get their land swooped have absolutely no idea that it shows up on a SL wide listing *instantly*, and that anyone can swoop in and grab it if they make a mistake, with no time for them to change it.

This *wasn't* an issue for most land before P2P teleporting came in, because it actually took *time* to fly from the nearest telehub to an individual plot, which gave people some margin for error in terms of correcting mistakes. This is no longer the case though, and I think that that's legitimate issue that LL needs to address.

Well it's true! You're uber-evil. You're mega-evil. You're the full cream butter of evil. You're the Pepsi X of evil. A million calories, ooooh more than evil enough.

I like it.

But it's griefing ... darn :(

You're exactly right about the P2P.

Your two suggestions are good, a short delay wouldn't really bother sellers. In the past people have suggested a sale having to be confirmed by a seller, which is impractical, but a delay, yes good idea. I like the option not to put it in the land listings as well.

I agree completely, Jack. It really is something that berfore wasn't really an issue but now is needed more than ever. I have nothing against people making a living in Second Life, but there is an element that is doing it specifically at the expense of the unknowing. Even people who have played for over a year that had no prior need to know this info are now open to this scam as well. It isn't just noobs.

Lindens, catching this? Would be nice to put SOME safeguard in. SOME people would leave SL if this were to happen to them (perhaps there have been many that have because it did - I dont' know).

No... they could buy it from an adjacent parcel, unfortunately.

I would be throughly shocked if so...for simple reason..LL's stance as such, the rules they hide behind..they enjoy too much that they can gloat in everyone's faces after they do such a deed and that our retaliation can be reported if we are rude, name calling, etc. So he feels no need to hide who he is..he has done nothing wrong. Only ways to avoid it is word of mouth and telling people to be very careful. Goodness knows I wished I had realized the 0L default to a particular person rule because then he might not have gotten his bite of my club land.

Jack- I saw your delay suggestion and I do agree to an extent after seeing the feedback others left for it...a 5 min delay would not put anyone in a rush in a bind and it would give someone ample time to fight lag and correct errors!

Not really, but it does make life in SL just that bit more inconvinent for them, which is enough for me.

Hmm... what if LL put in a filter that blocks any land sale below L$1/sqm? That way a L$0 property would never sell. That should prevent accidents.

That's why you enable damage. The heart is their warning.
