From: Tengu Yamabushi Yep, twice in a row, for me. With Phillip sitting there, blithely typing away on the stool. Hopefully there will be a transcript at some point... I have no idea what he was trying to say.
But, at least his pants were better this time. I just got in... and just sat down... _again_ (fourth time?) and it happened _again_.

From: Falk Bergman Well I finally manage to log in, sit down, listen to Phillip say two sentences and then the screen is filled with a big swirly multicolored prim. Then the client/sim crashs. Aparently everytime some Asshat Griefer manages to log back in he brings the sim right down again. Just great! Well, I wonder how he gets away with it.

From: Metawraith Mistral the more intelligent of the griefers will have already made several accounts and loaded them with their favored tools and such. that way they'd already have the accounts setup just in case the Lindens revert back to some sort of validation. WHY! don't linden labs do something about these dang GRIEFERS already if no one likes them destroying there game fun. IF! everyone does there part and abuse reports and give detail repports to LL. They will be slowly be gone.

From: Falk Bergman Did you get an edit on the torus thing to get the owner? I've tried. By the time I get a right-click on the thing, the database is down/non-responsive. I'll try again, should things let me back in. I suspect by that time I'll be logging into an empty presentation area.

The problem with griefers is just banning them wont work unless they ban a gigantic amount of people over a long time, which would make problems of its own. Also, they cant 'fix' the scripting language to dissallow replicating prims or other forms of griefing because that would make it harder/impossible to use for legitimate uses, which would just make the griefers 'win'.
Sort of like terrorism, except you know, in a video game. And with no real goal in mind.
To end this you would need to do something out of the box. Say, hmm, maybe making every prim over 10 prims rezzed in a certain timeframe handled clientside, and if the client who is handling these new prims crashes the prims are removed and so are the scripts. Of course that has plenty of problems too but its just an example.

If I manage to get back in I'm teleporting out, screw the speech. Incidentally, 'Unable to connect. Login packet never reached login server.' That's a new one. And my login screen is all funny now! I've got the logged-in toolbar at the top that says I'm at Unknown(0,0,0) and my minimap and performance window came up. Apparently I get 0 FPS on the login screen. The chat bar also popped up at the bottom, but the regular login screen is still visible and working behind all that. Weeeeird.

But I did get a partial: Name: cool shoe left Description (no description) Creator: (waiting) Group: (waiting) 1 Object, 161 Primitives <and dead client>

Is this one of those replicating prim things?

Y'all, this is really funny.
I managed to catch Philip saying a few words about the new registration system, how it was great, how any problems would be solved by "next week" or something - "next week" is the last I heard before my ping rate went to 10,000 and SL became unresponsive again.
Anyway, this is really pretty funny. There Philip is, sitting and saying how the open registration is great - except that he can't really say it, and we can't really hear it, because WE CANT HOLD A DAMN MEETING LONG ENOUGH TO HEAR IT without these disposable alts crashing everything.
Now, I ask you. What more evidence do they need?

Naming names doesn't really matter a shit now with the new registration. As soon as you name them it's redundant and they have moved on to the next one The party has well and truly been pissed on.

Haha, I've had that happen to me before too. Once I even got disconnected due to 'Mangled network data." It's only happened a couple of times, and relogging works to fix it. I'm not sure what causes it though.
