A small point over the line, there are no "ethics in Capitalism". There is and there is'nt, it is both, it just depends on who you are dealing with. Capitalism without ethics is whatever you can get away with. So if Jimbo showed up and did that to me, And I just happended to be able to apply the force to make him turn over his inventory to me, using any means available, then make him sign the forged receipt, and no one sees it, then as far as the law is concerned its all good. These are the kind of people who in RL take advantage of the weak and disadvantaged. These kind of people are the least deserving of any kind of respect. Due to the restraints of time and distance and anonymity a regular SL user is really pretty much screwed by this scam. In another thread there is some discussion of copyrights where the benefit of the doubt is given to the creator. I think the way it should be is that if a owner on record claims they did not intend to sell their land to the scamming buyer, that should be all that is required. At that point the attempted scammer should be punished or at the very least warned. This is a case that is as transparent as it gets and it is a rule that should be changed asap. I believe in legal capitalism where all parties leave a transaction having made their own choices. The response to this does need to be changed. _____________________
