Money farm, probably. This was tried about a year ago, I think; blogged in the NWN. Probably just made to take lindens from money trees.

[/B][/B] Check if you have either ATI or Nvidia graphics card in the computer, then go to either the ATI or Nvidia download pages that were given in the message (depending which one it is) and search them for an update for a specific graphics/video card. So just click either of the urls (web pages given above) corresponding to the make of your card and update the drivers there. You can also contact your local tech help from those pages if you have questions. Then try SL again

Nvidia GeForce 6200 - 6800 are OK. 7000 and above are very good. From: Son Bayliss Luciftias Neurocam You are really kindhearted,Thank you. heh... no. I just have a headache, that's all. When you try to run Second Life, does it give you an error message? If so, what exactly does it say? Us technical folks need to know the exact wording so we can tell you the correct answer to what is not working right. =)

I am running a 6800, and it works perfectly fine. I can run SL at near to full settings without any issues, however it is a PCI-Express card... my guess is that your system does not support that, since it is still somewhat new.
The absolute safest route you can go if you dont know what type of card slot you have is PCI, but it is also the slowest. Most older systems (between 2-4 years old) have AGP slots in them. You should find out for sure if you have AGP before you try to purchase a new card.
The absolute slowest card I would recommend for SL at this time is an Nvidia GeForce 5200, and that honestly, is a terrible, terrible card. It will run SL, but very poorly.
If you can afford it, go for a 6800. I bought mine about 4 months ago, and I think I paid around US $160 for it. They should be considerably cheaper now, especially if you are using an AGP version.

That question doesn't make sense. You can play this game paying nothing or very little if you are mainly into socialising and building at sandboxes, a bit more if you like to play Tringo and shop but are not into creating and need some cash injections, or from a bit to a lot more if you want to own land.
There is nothing you have to pay as such. It depends on what you want to do in the world. Start with a free account and see where your needs take you.

You can spend all your time exploring and discovering.. you will not spend any money.
many people are building wonderfull items.. you can spend your time to simply look.
when you feel happy, it's allways free to dance, and sometime, you receive a few money only to dance...
if you spend sometime to shopping, you will discover many clothes for only 1 L$, you can't say it's expensive . it's possible to dress for about nothing,
there are new games, completely free, (like "Tringo" or "Marienbad" by Shaman Shortbread) for people who likes gamble... even with empty pockets.
i did not see them, but i know there are fighting people . i already seen some weapons... but have no idea about the cost of them.
i think there are many other free-cost activities... money only helps but it's also easy to have fun without it.

Answer: None
With a bit of time and patience you can make everything you'll ever need in this 'game'.

From: Son Bayliss Can I play it paying nothing? What can I do then ? Obviously, there are the exploring and socialising aspects, although even there you might be tempted to spend some money to alter your appearance (or not if you use in-game freebies). If you enjoy the act of creating things, building in the sandboxes is free. Every texture you upload to put on your creation will cost 10$L though (a couple of cents worth of USD). There are also free textures in the game however, so that might not turn out to be a huge money sink. You can spend hours honing your creation / coding skills for little or no money. Similarly, if you attend building classes, you will do so for free and will receive basic textures, ... for free (although contributions to the class funds by those who can make them are no doubt gratefully accepted). If you do get into creating things and you become a successful SL businessman, you might even end up owning / renting land and having the sales you make in-game compensate for your costs. But that's a long term and business dependant view. If you tend to have a rounded SL experience and spend time with friends, go see places, mess around with the building tools, I don't think you need to spend much on the game at all. But if you want to spend a lot, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Wendel

Three paths that I know of...
06-19-2006 02:51
Any pay that you receive in-world is in Linden Dollars (L$). You can sell L$ at LindeX and receive US$ from residents who buy them. There are limits to how many L$ you can sell, especially if you are a new resident. You can apply to Linden Lab to have your limit raised.
None of the in-world jobs that are available pay very much in real-world terms; many pay less than US$1/hour. The most lucrative ones are forms of sex work (escorts, etc.), and even an extraordinarily successful escort makes less than US$10/hour, including tips.
The three ways that I know of to make larger sums of money:
1. Buying and selling real estate.
2. Operating private sims and renting land.
3. Creating popular products and selling a lot of them.
It is possible to make enough money to support yourself at any of these. But doing so requires a lot of work; don't expect it to be easy money. The first two require the investment of significant amounts of real cash to pay tier fees. All of them require time and energy promoting your business, as well as doing the business itself.

Adults of any age

You get out of it what you want to. This is not one game the same for all. It is a platform for many kinds of activities, and I've met active participants of ALL ages.

Making money
06-19-2006 03:00
There is one guaranteed way to make a small fortune in SL.
Start with a large fortune and watch it get smaller.
Seriously, too many journalists have been picking up on the (probably Linden inspired) aspect that some people can make a living in SL.
You probably can't. The big players have well entrenched positions, and you are unlikely to come up with anything good enough to get a real slice of their action. Xcite is probably the newest of the big money grabbers (9 months ago?), and they filled a specific niche that is now well stocked.
In any case, doing business is SL is like doing business in Haiti. No matter how hard you work, your investment can be wiped out by falling exchange rates, changes in the rules, or the extreme levels of competition.
Doing a job in SL isn't going to pay enough to make you anything in RL; it can help avoid having to buy more Lindens for shopping purposes, but you wont get much back if you convert your wages. And that assumes you can spend a lot of time online doing whatever the job is.
