Supposedly there will be a script call that will enable us to determine someone's "verified" status. I'm sure this will lead to more efficient, automatic forms of elitism and discrimination than those available today.

What irritated me more was that they didn't put any calls to the verified status in LSL when they implemented the current client. These calls don't exist on preview 1.11 or 1.12 as well.

Without that we can't make scripts that determine if someone is verified or not.

You are avoiding the question I asked.

You said: I think it's pretty clear that LL will limit newbie accounts before giving us better tools because they've already done so.

I said: What have they done to limit unverifieds?

I have yet to see you mention anything thats limited them.
It's actually not my premise...it's Ordinal's:

Clearly as a responsible paying resident of Second Life I believe that anyone who hasn't paid should be generally beaten on, humiliated and treated as belonging to a despised underclass as much as possible, particularly on my land, because that's the best way to deal with griefing and stalking and stuff. Or something like that. Look, I pay my hard-earned cash to LL and that means I'm a customer and the customer is always right dammit.

Perhaps, instead of having a three-tier system (almost egalitarian, like some sort of communist thing) we can have the top two tiers being called "alpha" and "beta" and non-verified non-people put in "omega".
[/i][/b]

I think that those omega avatars should be forced to wear taupe jumpsuits and be decanted from bottles liberally laced with alcohol.

"I would hate to be an Omega, thank Ford I'm an Alpha! Alphas have it best!"

Why would you do a thing like that? Ordinal is much more sensible than I.

Miss Aquitane, might I suggest that within certain contexts the omegas be relegated to serving as wet nurses for prim babies and washing flexiprim unmentionables with Jim Lumiere's wonderful washboards and tubs (never miss a chance to plug a good product, eh?).

Well, that would work for the female omegas anyway. The males? hmmm....push gun fodder perhaps? I'm told that omegas make excellent soldiers provided they are led by Alpha officers.

The problem with banning an entire class of avatars is that it won't carry that visceral satisfaction mentioned in the first post.

You really need to have some sort of unfair, highly unpredictable, socially bankrupt pecking order to make discrimination so intimate.

As far as I'm concerned, the current toolset allows for such...

I just figured out a way to house, feed and humiliate unverified newbies at the same time.

Indentured servitude. For, say, 3 months, to Alpha members. Sexual services optional. Regular beatings, mandatory.

Why not make new non-verified newbies spawn into gorean sims (instead of the WA) and have a default avatar wearing gorean silks and collars? This will help increase the number of goreans and help control the newbies movement/actions.

Make them read the forums for 30 mins before logging in untill they are verified.
That'll teach them.

Why do we need more ways to kick newbies? I find that a foot with a solid connection to their sitting implement to be quite satisfying. :p

Ordinal Malaprop used the <sarcasm> tag manymany posts ago.

I'm still waiting to see the matching </sarcasm> tag. ;)

Are we seriously having a discussion on how to discriminate against free account users?

That's like AOL users discriminating against university students who get free internet access.

How is any of this helping anything than entertaining unnecessary fears, feeding some egos, and creating more annoying ban lines, bouncers, orbitters, push thingies, weapons, and above all hate. :-(

It makes me unhappy to see us take this direction.

How about Noob Skeet?

1. enable damage on your land
2. gather all your friends with shotguns and other weapons
3. put a "special" money tree out - this tree would launch the newbie up about 40 meters when the bait money was Touched
4. blast away!

This could become the FICs' newest gaming craze, overtaking Slingo!

Jennifer you are ebil :D

Imagine the grassy knoll above the tree. Packed with onlookers while the leading Noob Skeeters checked their weaponry. The stuffy britich commentator whispering like in some chees two bit nature video (not to be mistaken for the not so cheesy ones that get Leonard Nemoy to narrate).

"Oh Look! Here comes one now. The milling of the crowd quiets and the shooters take their places. Note the halting swagger of the Noob as it approaches the Monetary Foliage... not a prim in sight. No bling for this poor souless minion...."

At risk of being, ah, uncouth, I might point out that "grassy knoll" isn't the best term to describe a shooting arena, at least to 'Merkans, Aly. ;)
