From: Sensual Casanova It's not that easy when you are running a business in SL... I never let customers friend me. I hate being followed around at random. I think most people will understand this if you give them the chance. Those that don't, well, it's unfortunate, but no one really has a right to expect someone to let them follow them around whenever they feel like it.

From: Kerian Bunin I file bug reports, preview on the preview grid, and have never had a problem with them listening. Sometimes it takes a while, but they do listen. Yeah they listen alright. They listen so well I never get any kind of response and when I have called, I get hung up on and called stupid. They have some really wonderful customer service to go along with thier tech service. Hell I run my pc shop better than LL is run. Now go flap your lips at someone who doesn't have a clue and leave me the hell alone. I tried to joke with you to start and you just give me crap instead. Yeah go outside in 90+ degrees with 100+ heat index at the age of 47 and have a heat stoke. Right. Have a nice day... but not in SL since you can't get in either.

I don't even try to friend business owners in SL, unless they offer first. I know how to find thier names on search if I need to im them about something concerning thier business. It would be nice if more people did things that way.

I'm outside right now thanks to wifi. Every time I've called the support line I've gotten to talk to someone, and my problems were resolved. I must be doing something right, I guess. Its ammusing you seem to be getting bent out of shape about this. And I can get into SL fine. Just use a different grid.

From: Sexy Partridge I have wondered this myself, how much does all this down time really hurt those that are in game as a business? I mean they take away traffic, incentives so money is sales. No one can buy if grid is down. ?? so does it really affect the big business ppl much.? Obviously down time affects any business or store in Sl, and also you traffic takes a dive on closure days but I find some of the bugs and rezzing isses even worse as it is hard to get anything new actually done and ready for sale or it takes double the time which an awful lot of time and means other things you want to make or do have to take a back seat.

i sit here and listen to u all, basically everyone saying the same things over and over again, complaining about grid being down all day wednesdays, i for one would easily volunteer for it down on a monday or tuesday seeing as how the majority from what ive seen has wednesdays off so they just sit around and bitch all day about not being able to log in, when in fact if LL didn't have regular updates you would sit around and complain about what they don't have and what you can't do so honestly, would u rather LL try their best to release new features work on old bugs or just work on current bugs for weeks, or months and not release new updates which prevents the grid from being down, but also increases the chances of the grid being attacked if people have time to play with exploits and features. so really either way your not going to win and linden labs isnt going to win, and if you are a person that came from TSO which a huge population did, they had DAILY maintenance and it was expected. so why is this so difficult?

I've previewed, filed reports, previewed again, filed reports, and update day guess what? If you guessed fixed wrong answer.

From: Chronic Skronski Sounds like you're being polite and civil, to me. I also release calls when a customer is being abusive. I have been polite and civil. But when I'm basically told they don't care if I kept my premium account or not and don't care if thier screw up when they changed the business they used to accept cards with didn't allow the use of certain cards that had been used before and then have the gall to hang up on me when I tried to insist something be done to help me keep my account before enough time had passed that it would have been disabled WHEN IT WAS THIER SCREW UP THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. Oh hell.. nevermind. I already know it's too much to expect for LL's customer service to treat me the way they would want to be treated and the way I treat my own customers in RL. I'll just continue to ask for the one person that does help whenever I have to call. I'm sick of people who know nothing about me or my situation telling me what the hell to do.

From: Chronic Skronski There's also no need to fill the forums with countless threads to accuse the Lindens of not listening, not testing, not doing anything, not fixing bugs, etc. This is a very massive and complex 'game' where thousands of users can write their own code. Of COURSE there are bugs! But to accuse the Lindens of not caring and not doing anything about it shows that the poster has not bothered to read the bug fix lists, not bothered to read updates from LL, not bothered to check out the preview grid (proven by someone posting that a backup grid would be a good idea). These people would rather just BITCH.
So yeah, after seeing this from the uninformed masses every time something goes wrong, damned right I am going to be insulting. Sure, it's frustrating for some when the grid is down - but how do you think it makes those of us who do know how unpredictable massive networks can be feel when we log into the forums to see endless new threads about the same goddamned thing?
Why not take this time to download the preview client. Go looking for bugs. There was the major exploit that caused people to be able to wreck sims by removing bits of it (which thankfully was repaired but too late), that had nothing to do with the scripting and that was something that someone in the Linden Labs should have looked into LONG before that got the to grid. Monday - they took the grid down to fix a bug or explot of some UNKNOWN kind, this was 5 days after the last patch and 2 days before the next one. If someone can tell me what that problem was and exactly which patch it came from I'd be happy. There are bugs that have come in over the last 4 patches that are still there - and from patches further back than that. People do go to the test grids, they do log reports, they do not get dealt with. What we are seeing is a pattern, a pattern that should not be happening and that shows a lack of competency, so no you do not have any right to be insulting to anyone. There also the fact that the only effective way to test bugs is utterly unviable because the test grids only have a few zones, and as a result everyone is crammed in a small area creating so much lag that doing anything is pointless.

"Our technicians are currently addressing and working on a resolution to the presence information issue. We will advise an estimated time for the grid to be reopened as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!" Why is this taking so EFFING LONG?!?!? The FIVE HOURS the grid was down this morning wasn't enough time to address this issue properly? It's been an issue present in the grid since the LAST PATCH. I-don't-get-it.

It's easy to say "you couldn't do better", but a lot of developers do turn out better results than this. It's not intentional, I'm sure that most Lindens feel the same way we do by now, and are well aware of how this is affecting the residents. It seems to me that what's needed most is a fundamental change in way of thinking, because paying customers aren't going to tolerate it forever. They can attract as many millions of new users as they want, but how many will stick around when things are like this all the time? The current attitude of LL reminds me all too much of that displayed by DALnet 5 years ago.
