A vote to fix this registration mess....

I searched the voting system and didn't find where anyone else had proposed a vote on returning to a credit card system of verifying identity, so I went ahead and proposed a vote myself.

If I've made a mistake and someone else did it before and I just missed it, then I apologize.

It seems the Lindens (at least in my perspective) have been avoiding answering our questions and concerns...perhaps they'll listen to a vote. Perhaps not, but it's worth a shot.

So if you're interested go have a look please and add all the votes you can. :)

Prop: 1503 - Bring back identity verification for new registering accounts!!!!

10 votes/1 voters/10 placed Category: miscellaneous Sub: other Added: 2006-06-19

Feature Detail: We have seen the results, now lets fix it. Some form of identity verification is necessary. Go back to credit cards now! It may not be the best way but it was better than this chaos.

EDIT: And yes I confess that I created a new thread about a subject there are many threads already going about, I did it because I wanted this vote to be more noticed.
Make this the highest voted proposal on the list, that has to get their attention.

  1. voting never mattered at all, it was just a feeble effort to placate customers
  2. it certainly won't in this case
  3. I'd throw votes at it (I like bandwagons) if they weren't tied up in something that will never see a disposition thus never be released

I have discussed this matter in some depth with all my alts, and after some lengthy debate, we have all decided to apply our votes to supporting this proposition.

I've no illusions about the effectiveness of the voting itself, especially in the context of some dubious prioritization scheme that LL themselves disdain (Robin's recent description of how they look at our votes bears that out, IMO).

I _do_ think, however, that a rapid, overwhelming vote on this particular topic would lend some additional (numerical) weight to the premise that a significant number of us are unhappy with the present situation. If those votes in any way give us additional means to more effectively rub LL's collective nose in the soiled messes they've allowed others to make all over 'our world', to somehow get them to share inhaling that inescapable, pervasive aroma with the rest of us... well, all the better, say I.

Happy voting!

Ah, I hadn't even considered the use of alts(not having any alts myself ;)) to (potentially) bump the votecount up to completely absurd levels - thus perfectly illustrating one of the (many) ways to abuse the farcical situation they've created.

Such irony! Hopefully it's not lost on them ;).

having only voted very few times in the past on votes that were meaningless i have cast away all previous votes from all my alts and cast them here. I think that if enough people vote even with all the alts voting this will send a clear message to LL.

I added all 10 of my votes :)

Assuming that newly created accounts can vote, why not cast a couple hundred votes that direction?
