Hi
I would like to suggest that since we yard yale people are not allowed to post our yard sales in the event calander, that Second life have a special event calander just for us!

Yes thats right! I cant not see what all the fuss is about not to let us post too!
So please put a event calander just for yard sales , and your problem will be solved as will ours :)
thanks
sherry

Incidentally, you should really proofread before you post. You said 'I can't not see what all the fuss is about.' which is the same thing as saying 'I can see what all the fuss is about.' Double negatives, mmm.

Um, you started the whole thread for the purpose of whining. It's not our fault you both can't communicate coherently and want something stupid at the same time.

Not really the wrong place... General Topics is a good place to start with things about SL since it's all general... The link they gave you though, it was to a seperate part of the forum specifically for suggestions.

On the whole, even though I disagree with the idea because of the "I can't post in events" post at the start, (and I can see why you'd get the idea, now that I've had time to think about it) maybe a seperate list in the events listing for yard sales might be an idea after all... but it might also be more work than it's worth for LL to do.

One final thing... though I might get a little intense at times, it's only because I want to help, not because I'm having a go at anyone... something I still need to work on getting across. :o

Again, each event has a start and stop time per the event function, start time you set, end time you set, it is hosted by those of us doing the event, we are there, always,
again, you assume much, you assume we are not there, you asume we have no start time you assume we have no end time, you assume you know about things you have no knowledge on.

Look in all the post for events, such as Slingo, nowhere is it listed in the the text written by the host for a start time or end time, it is taken for granted that times listed are correct, nor are they listed as haveing so and so as a host of the event most times, it is als otaken for granted that they will be there, before someone makes a general accusation about rules, make sure the group of people targeted is indeed doing it differently than the rest of the Community.

Please quote who you are replying to... right now no-one can tell. But, by what you said, I've got the idea it's me you're replying to.

If that is the case, then...

I do not assume that you are not there
I do not assume that it is un-hosted
I do not assume that it has no start time
I do not assume that it has no end time

Please show me where I have made those assumptions. (and before you do, take note of this that I said not so long ago... "As such, Sherry is hosting yard sales in accordance with the event listing and can post her events there.";)

As for slingo events and such... I host regular slingo events...

It specifies a start time, and end time, who the host is and, especcially in the case of the *ingo events, without the host being there the game will not work. No host = no event at all!

:edit to add: That is the case with all the multiplayer gamse along those lines... the host MUST be there for them to work

If they didn't comply with the rules, do you think I would have got the seal of approval from Torley? /108/7c/104756/1.html#post1024262

I'm beginning to lose sight of your problem. You advertise in classifieds, you advertise in events, and you are present during your event. You were pointed to feature feedback for something that you want included....what is the problem again?

I *think* the problem is that, due to a misunderstanding of what is now being done with the yard sales, the impression was got that you cannot post yard sale events even when they comply with the event listing rules to the letter...

End result, someone thinks there's a problem when there isn't. (pointing no fingers or saying they are to blame... misunderstandings happen. Fact of life...)

Funny thing is... no-one here is saying that you can't post hosted yard sale events... /me shrugs

my problem is that someone has reported me as abuse for posting an event, and yes i post in the classifieds as well, thing about that is ..more attention is spent on events,
anyone of you can come to my yard sale at anytime when it is posted and check it out for yourself!
I welcome you

I am making a suggestion for a seperate event calander for yard sales only so that the
people that feel their event calander is being cluttered can relax..they are having a lot of stress from the yard sales it seems

Do you see why i am pissed?

Sherry you attempted to contact me in-world about this, I still stand by the majority, not because they are the majority, but because they are right. As I told you in-world you have made many lovely things, but they ARE set out as a yardsale, I can't say if you have been there or not for your 'events' but I can say when I saw our SIM name was an area of interest for a disciplinary action I KNEW it was your place.

I can see exactly why you are pissed... and I agree with you that it isn't fair.

I think that a grey area might be if you're holding yard sale events but also leaving everything out as a yard sale after the event... I'm guessing that it's a possibility, but not assuming such. (there are a lot of places that do just that... I was at one earlier)

That kind of thing could well be reported as a non-event and upheld... not that I really think it should. If you're hosting it as an event AND haven't put anything about a 24hr yard sale in the event listing, then IMO it's fine. Unfortunately, my opinion carries as much weight as my pet cat's does around here...

yes i do leave it all out, and why not?
If i pay 125.00 a month for land..are you saying i can not leave it out?

And Nyx what do you mean? Are you the person that reported my yard sale as abuse?
And as far as me "Attempting to contact you in world" lol Why i do believe we spoke, i didnt know it was an attempt lol. we are neighhbors, i thought rather than reply to your comment here i would do so in world, i dont see what you are getting at.
I wanted to let you know that yes i do use the Classifieds, and to ask you if you were still interested in selling your land, was i wrong to do so?

you can buy the 3/4 sim i have if you like and i will move no need of my yard sale bothering you or anyone else

Sherry my dear who said that life is fair? Show me where that is written. Second Life is no more fair than First Life.

If you want to make the rules, just make your own list! I did:

http://www.slboutique.com/events/

I wanted an events list that was policed and had a stricter set of rules than Linden Lab did. Its a much smaller list, but I can read through it quickly and be sure to find actual events that I'd be interested in attending.

If you want to post on the Linden Lab events list, follow their rules... and yes, that means no yard sales. That's one of their rules, and its their list. If you want to post yard sales somewhere, why not register www.SLYardSales.com and allow any resident to post their yard sales to it?

Also, just because you're allowed to post a maximum of 5 events a day doesn't mean you should post 5 events per day - especially if they're all yard sales in the same location. :)

Regards,

-Flip
