Hi
I would like to suggest that since we yard yale people are not allowed to post our yard sales in the event calander, that Second life have a special event calander just for us!

Yes thats right! I cant not see what all the fuss is about not to let us post too!
So please put a event calander just for yard sales , and your problem will be solved as will ours :)
thanks

Sure, as long as you make sure it fits the definition of an event... As in, have a host there at all times, a defined start and end time...

You do that, and you actually have an event.

Then again, you do that, and you don't NEED a seperate event calander, since you'd be FOLLOWING THE RULES YOU AGREE TO WHEN YOU CLICK "I AGREE"

I'll have to agree w/ Jonas, Classifieds is there for your needs. You may not want to spend the $L but that's the option.

And BTW just beacuse you build and make, indeed, lovely things, and set them in a 'yard' ie.. outside, does not a yardsale make.

But the event gets way more attention, and why be upset if i am asking for a seperate event calander?
It does not concern anyone but the people that want to post yard sales :)

Sherry

Is it a defined event, hosted, with a specific start/end time? If not, then it's not an event.

If it IS a defined event, then it's fine for the current event listings....

Just how hard is it to understand this?

If you followed the definition of an event for your sale, then you are allowed to post in the event listings...

Why are you trying to make a scene out of a non-existant problem?

*sigh* A yard sale is a commercial event... if it follows the event definition, you can post your yard sale event in the commercial part of the events listing...

Why do you need a seperate events calendar when you ALREADY HAVE ONE?

:edit: And this goes for everyone now claiming they cannot post yard sale events... If it follows the event definition, then you can post it in the events listing. Claiming otherwise is promoting a falsehood...

...if you have a host there, then what's the problem? Put it in the events list. It is an event, right? Right?

If you DON'T have a host there, then it aint' an event, is it? Hmm.

So why do we need a separate list again?

The yardsales are commerical, listed as such. we as posters of events are allowed 5 per day, the yard sale is in out yard, on our land, where we live, and where we work, Now, it is here we spend all of our time (we own 2/3 of the sim), can someone explain to me way it is called spamming?, it is an even under al lthe guidlines provided, the comments from Tiger seems to have little in them but assumptions, if it bothers the ones who post for clubs, or naked avatar contests, then why not have another area for yardsales or such, this is so petty, I have been warned about "spamming" I post no more then 5 times a day, more often 3 times only do I post, the classifieds is something that is not truly useful, it is not set-up in a manner to see what is going-on at a certian time, it appears to be sorted by who paid the most, it is not searchable by time frame, or even type.

Again, tell me what rules have I broken?, I am here, always, I do not use alts to post events, the events are on my land, and are listed as commerical, again, what rules have I broken, or has Sherry broken?

Because, 90% of the yard sales listed a) have no hosts, b) are posted multiple times a day, c) have no start/end time, and d) are just stores listing regular prices.

They clutter up the events list, making it an eyesore to read. Doubly annoying is that they aren't even fricking events. It's the SL equivilent to "b1g p3n1s n0w!" viagra spam.

As a general reply to the people crying over their "persecution" of legit yard sales:

A few bad apples ruin the bunch. Your fellow competitors, or lack thereof, have ruined, yet again, another piece of SL due to their incessent desire for virtual greenbacks. If you have a beef, take it up with them, not the Lindens.

Let me just say yet again that Linden lab told me to suggest a "yard sale event"
here in this forum, and as you can see i have done just that, so ok you say there are a few bad apples to ruin us all ...yes that may very well be the case...i post in the classifieds i pay to do so , i can pay to post or have a seperate "yard sale event calander" if it clutters up your xrated or game playing calander ,, i do not feel i am asking for much...this is becoming way too big of a deal, but i feel that it is my right as it is yours, i pay to use this program, and if i want to post an event that i or my husband is hosting
then i feel like i should be able to.

But with the bad feedback i am getting from people as yourself i do not feel it will happen, why can't you be with me and keep your event calander and give me mine?

Why so much complaint on this ?
Thank you

Your world, your imagination. Nothing's stopping you from organizing your own "yard sale event list" in-world, distributed via notecards or websites or whatever.

the comments from Tiger seems to have little in them but assumptions

The only assumption in my posts was that a properly hosted yard sale with clearly defined start and end times fits perfectly with the rules that people agree to abide by when they click the "I agree" button... (which, by the way, is what Torley has also mentioned... "Redudant postings of the same event in a single day, gratuitious and blatant ads, and fake yard sales--"fake" because there wasn't a host present, there was no start or end time, and there most certainly wasn't even a yard to begin with... so how could it be a yard sale?"
/108/7c/104756/1.html#post1024257 )

As such, Sherry is hosting yard sales in accordance with the event listing and can post her events there. Her claims that she, and others, cannot are demonstratably false.

There is no need for a seperate Yard Sale event listing... it is already covered by the existing format.
There's certainly not any need for a seperate Yard Sale event listing when they are non-events... ie. no host, no start/end times...

Once more, for those who just don't get it...

If you are HOSTING it for a SET TIME, then it is a LEGITIMATE EVENT and you can post in in the event listing as it is... it is ony the ones who want to post 24hour, non-hosted non-events that are not allowed.

I'm showing you that you can legitimately post your events in the current calendar and that we don't need a seperate calendar... How is that bad feedback?

Btw... LL told you to post it in Feature Suggest. This is General Topics... if you want to make your suggestion officially, post in the right forum.
